The Department of Visual Communication has given Media Support to the “Charity Film Festival & Short Film Competition” a fund raising program for the medical treatment of Cancer Children Organized by the Meenakshi mission Hospital, Madurai on 03,04 & 05th November 2017. Our department students have videographed and photographed the entire event. Multicamera technique was used for both video and photo Coverage Rs.30,000 worth of work has done by the department as service.
Students Achievements
Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, Madurai had conducted a Charity Film Festival and Short film Competition on 3 , 4 and 5th November 2017 at Madurai Medical College Auditorium with over 700 students in attendance.
Nearly 150 short films from various colleges in the State had nominated for the short film competition.
K.Subasree, the final year student of Visual Communication won the ‘Best Content Award’ for her short film titled “Cuckoo”.
J.K.Anubhav Krishna, M.Sc first year student of Visual Communication won two awards namely ‘Special Jury Award’ and “Best Child Artist Award” for his short film titled “Yellow Rose”.
R.Shanmugapriyan, M.Sc final year student of Visual Communication won the ‘Best Documentary film Award’ for his Documentary titled “Keeladi”.
Extension Program – Kombadi
The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized an Extension Program on food habits and hygiene to the Kombadi Village people on 3.11.2017, around 57 village Women’s and 30 students of MC&HM have participated in this program. The department faculty, Mr. Perumal Kannan (Asst. Prof), gave the welcome speech and Mrs. G.S.Subbulakshmi (Asst. Prof) has explained the knowledge of food safety and hygiene through Power Point Presentation. The topic covers the issues of Poor Personal & Food Hygiene, sanitation; Environment issues in our day-to-day life style .Mr. P.Anand, Asst Prof gave Vote of thanks. They all were very happy and satisfied for that program. At last we got feedback from the participants.
Campus Interview – CUB
As a premier institution of Madurai, SLCS continued to enjoy immense confidence of the recruiters for placement for the batch of 2015-2018. Initially the City Union Bank conducted the campus recruitment drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 02.11.2017. Six panel members were from the City Union Bank, Head Office, Kumbakkonam. Around 35 students participated in the recruitment. The recruitment drive consists of essay writing test, On-line aptitude test and personal interview. Each and every student performed well. The recruiters felt happy and also were satisfied about the performance of the students. The department felt really happy that all the students participated with confidence and enthusiasm.
Orientation Programme
Our department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management, have organized orientation programe for the department students on 1.11.2017 at 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. Our Head, Mr. C.Sureshkumar, have addressed all our students and informed about the College/ Department new rules and regulations, Academic details, Syllabus, Attendance, Internship program, Departmental Activity for the Even semester, performance of the students and the steps to be taken for the weak students, Discipline, to the students, STCW, INDOS, CDC, Outdoor catering etc.
Orientation Programme
On 1st November, 2017 in MBA Hall, Orientation Programme for I, II & III B.Com Students was organized by the Department of Commerce on 01.11.2017. The programme commenced with Prayer followed by the Key note was delivered by Mrs.V.Padmavathy , HOD of Commerce Department of SLCS. Dr.S.Gurupriya and Ms.B.Shanmugapriya, Asst. Professor conducted the Ice Breaking Session.
Campus Recruitment Training
As Part of Campus Recruitment Training, The Department had given special training for two days from 31-10-2017 to 01-11-2017 to the students who have to be attended the City Union Bank interview, in the three area of specialization which are Communicative English by Mr.Sivakumar, Aptitude by Ms.Vichitra & Subject oriented by Mr.Eswaran.
