Training in Food Safety & Laundry and Linen Maintenance

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a Development Programme “Food Safety & Laundry and Linen Maintenance” on 17.10.2019. Ten Non teaching staff attended this training program and were taught Grooming standards, Personal Hygiene, Usage and Importance of Personal Protective Equipments, Cleaning of Work Station and Guest room, Chemical Usage, General Laundry procedure, Linen Storage & Maintenance and how to provided a safe working environment. They understood the principles of basic food safety and also how to apply knowledge to control hazards and prevent food poisoning.

Board of Studies

The Department of Commerce (Honours) conducted the Second Board of Studies Meeting for the I year B.Com (Honours) – ACCA Specialization students on 15/10/2019 afternoon at SLCS Board Room. Dr. M. Tharani, HoD(i/c) of Commerce (Honours) presented the Syllabus in front of Madurai Kamaraj University Nominee Dr.A.Mayilmurugan, Head, Associate Professor of Commerce, The Madura College, Subject Expert Dr. Karthikeyan, Dean and Controller of Examinations,  Vivekananda College, Tiruvedakam and Industry Expert CA Ayyanar. Dr. B. Ramamoorty, the Principal along with Dr.R. L. Ramnath,  NAAC Advisor, and Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics felicitated the  Board of Studies meeting.

Board of Studies Meeting

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized the Second Board of Studies meeting on 11.10.2019 at 2.00 p.m. in the Board Room. Dr. R. Kannan, Professor& Research Guide participated as the University Nominee, & Prof. S.Ramesh Raj, Associate Professor was the Subject Expert, Mr. C. Sureshkumar HoD was the Chairperson. The Department Faculty members, M.Karthick ,Alumni, a Parent and a Student participated as members in the Board of Studies Meeting. We discussed the syllabi which will be implemented for even semester (for Batch 2019 – 2022 – II semester, Batch 2018 – 2021 – IV Semester, Batch 2017-2020 – VI semester)

ALUMNI INTERACTION

On 09.10.2019, Alumna of CS & IT Department, Mrs.D.Keerthana  (Batch: 2016 – 2019),  working at TCS, Chennai  interacted with I year CS (SSS) students. She shared her experience and gave excellent guide to get job at TCS. She also motivated the students to concentrate on studies and to attend technical events to update their knowledge. I year students clarified their queries by interacting with Mrs.D.Keerthana.

International Conference on “Scientific and Social Approaches to Mental Well Being” – 2019

The Departments of Home Science, Zoology, Biochemistry & Botany organized an International Conference on “Scientific and Social Approaches to Mental Well Being – 2019 on 3.10.2019 & 4.10.2019 at V.V.V College of Arts and Science (UGC Grants Commission – Autonomy Fund). Mrs. G.S.Subbulakshmi, Assistant Professor – Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management presented a Research Paper titled “ Role of Happy Hormones in Mental Health” – A Review. on 3.10.2019.

CAREER COUNSELING PROGRAMME & WORKSHOP

The Department of Fire & Industrial Safety has organized a Career Counseling cum workshop on 04.10.2019 for Amudham Matriculation Hr Sec school Students. Mr.I.Vivek Ramkumar HOD; Department of Fire & Industrial Safety clearly explained the future growth of safety and the demand for safety professionals in various fields. He also gave useful tips for the Students regarding the job opportunities for safety in various sectors. Fire Demo was conducted in RLINS ground by the HOD of Fire & Industrial Safety to create awareness among the participants on handling of Safety Equipments. At the end of the program an Interactive session was conducted and the feedback from the Students who participated in the program was good and the program ended with Vote of Thanks.  The School Students Visit is successfully completed with a great positive impact in the minds of the students and the faculty members of the school. We have received an overwhelming Response from the school Students.

Totally 15 students got benefited through this program.

Value Added Course on “Geography for Logistics & Shipping”

ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a Value Added Course on “Geography for Logistics & Shipping” on 01.10.2019. The resource person was Mr.B.Meenakshi Sundaram, Senior Faculty, RL Institute of Nautical Sciences. The resource person highlighted the different geographical terms related to logistics and shipping management. He also mentioned the relevance of such terms in the industry and the need of knowing it.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT/TOUR

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Industrial Visit /tour for the final year students on 27.09.2019 and 28/09/2019 for two days. The students visited a Cheese factory and important tourist places at Kanyakumari and Trivandrum.

Intra college meet

ZEAL (BBA Association) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized an “Intra college meet” on 26.09.2019& 27.09.2019. Several competitions like Business Quiz, Sherlock Holmes, Phrase Hunt, Multitasking, Ad – Zap and Pitch your ideas were conducted. Students from all departments actively participated in the events. The prize winners were honored. This event helped in improving the leadership and organizing skills of the students of BBA.

Valedictory Function of the Training Programme

Department of Animation, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science & 2ADPro organised the Valedictory Function of the Training Programme: Extravaganza 2K19 on 26th September 2019 at the College Premises. Dr. B. Ramamoorthy, Principal, SLCS, Dr. R.L. Ramnath, IQAC-Advisor were the guests of honour. Mr. Ramesh, Head of Training Divisions and Trainers Mr. Murali, Ms. Chitra and Ms. Malathy were present. Mr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head, Department of Animation gave an inspiring speech for the students about the Industry. The students exhibited their talents like Silambam, Dance, Mime, Music, Song and conducted games like Tuck of war, Biscuit Game etc. The Students & Trainers shared their experience about the Training Period and the Demo reels of the I, II and III year students were shown. All the faculty members and Students of I & II Animation were also present. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Gurubaran of III year B.Sc Animation.
