Value Added Course on “National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health”

         The Department of  Fire and Industrial Safety organized a training program on NEBOSH for the students of PG Diploma in Fire and Industrial Safety from 13/09/2021 to 30/09/2021. The Resource persons were Mr.M.Krishna Moorthy and Mr.K.Senthi Nathan from Green World Group, a leading training Institute. Mr.K.Senthil Nathan, HSE Trainer explained the importance of NEBOSH and gave training on element of NEBOSH IGC1and IGC2.  He demonstrated various IGC1 and IGC1 elements with Industrial based scenario for the students to got training in writing the online examination. The students understood the proactive & reactive health and safety management system. He also gave career guidance and detailed Job opportunities available in the field of safety. The students were highly satisfied with the training program and requested for more such programs.

Workshop on “Surfacing – Substance painter”

D.P Roy Choudhury Association of Department of Animation along with IMSK, Chennai organized a two days “Webinar on Surfacing – Substance Painter” on 28th & 29th September, 2021 from 10:00 A.M to 05:00 P.M. through the Google Meet to improve the student’s skill for placement. Mr. Hariharan, 3D Artist and Mr. Pugazhendi, Junior Developer from Madras Mind Works were the Chief Guest. Mr. M. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Assistant Professor, Department of Animation welcomed the gathering. Mr. P. Kishore kumar, Head (i\c) cum Assistant Professor delivered the key note address. The following topics were taught to the students.

Day – 1

  • 3D Asset pipeline (3D modeling, UV Unwrapping, Texturing)
  • Substance painter Introduction
  • How Substance made texture easy
  • How to texture in substance painter
  • Texture task for students in substance painter

Day – 2

  • Create Depth and realism using textures
  • Texture & Maps, Adding materials and textures to 3D model
  • Techniques for texturing
  • Exporting texture for Game engine to work
  • Asset Rendering pipeline (Material and Textures)
  • Industry Use cases

INDUCTION PROGRAM 2021-22

B.Com. (Honours) ACCA first year students attended the induction program on 29th September, 2021 between 09.30 am and 12.30 pm at Seminar Hall and in the college campus ground of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. Our respected Principal Dr. R Sujatha has engaged with freshers and conducted various events to motivate them. She also threw more light on required skills which need to be developed.

World Tourism Day – 2021

The Readers Hub and Library Managing Club jointly organized a Competition to celebrate the World Tourism Day on 27th September, 2021 and 28th September, 2021 at 1.30 pm  in the Library. Around 25 students participated  in the competition. Prize Winners names were also announced.

 

SLCS – Samaaj seva – EXTENSION ACTIVITY – AWARENESS ABOUT E-SEWA KENDRA

The Department of CS (SSS), as a part of its Extension Activity recorded and aired a programme on “Awareness about E-Sewa Kendra” through SLCS’s Community Radio Shyamalavani on 28.09.2021 at 01.00 PM. Four students from II B.Sc CS (SSS) performed a skit “Awareness about E-Sewa Kendra”, about the awareness of E-Sewa Kendra. This play disseminated the importance of E-Sewa Kendra to the rural people. Students explained various facilities available in the E-Sewa Kendra.

Hospitality Career opportunities in Middle East country

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Alumni Interaction for the first year (40 students) on 28.9.2021. Naganarayanan.R, an alumnus of the department, presently working as   Chef de partie, four seasons Hotel and Resorts, Burj Alshaya, Kuwait, was the resource person. He created awareness among the students about the “Hospitality Career opportunities in Middle East Country”. He spoke to the first year students about selection process, Migration Process, Documents required for travel and Work culture in Middle East County. He also explained the job responsibility of an individual. This programme boosted the confidence of the students.

SLCS Samaaj seva – Awareness Programme on “Consumption of low cost nutritious foods”

FAGAS an Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity at NeduMadurai through “Awareness Programme on Consumption of low cost nutritious foods” on 28.09.2021.  The students of III BSc FSPM conducted a survey among the rural people an d concluded that there is a minimum intake of millets and pulses in their daily dietary pattern. Ms.R. Gunalini student of III BSc FSPM enumerated the overall benefits of using millets and pulses in day today life. Finally to create awareness we provided Green gram incorporated ragi laddu to all the participants. Totally 14 students participated in this extension activity.

SLCS Samaaj seva – Extension Activity : World Tourism Day Rally

The World Tourism day is celebrated on 27th September every year by the United Nations World Tourism Organization located in Madrid, the Capital of Spain. The travel establishments such as travel agencies, airlines offices, tour operators etc. and hospitality establishments such as Hotels, Restaurants etc and educational institutions   also celebrate on the occasion of world tourism day..

The Department Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a tourism awareness rally involving the students from second and third year MC&HM.  They ran across Nedu Madurai Village accompanied by the community children, who took part in an enthusiastic way and shouted the slogans along with the Group. The students carried posters and banners with slogans and created awareness about the significance of tourism.

World Tourism Day Seminar

The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management students have participated in World Tourism Day Seminar. It was held on 27.09.2021 on the occasion of world tourism day. The Seminar was organized by Travel Club, Madurai and Fortune Pandiyan Hotel, Madurai. 10 students from final year MC&HM actively participated in this Seminar. The chief guests from various Hotel and Travel Industry have effectively delivered their speech on the current scenario in Travel and Tourism Industry and the effect of Hotel and Tourism Industry after Covid-19 Pandemic. This Seminar motivated and encouraged the students, who had a memorable experience.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

In association with alumni cell, a prominent Alumnus of Computer Science Department, Mr.M.Vijaya Kumar (Batch: 2007 – 2010), Team Leader, TCS, Chennai, interacted with the I year CS (SSS) students on 27.09.2021. He shared his industry experience with the students. He insisted the students on developing the communication skills such as Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. He also encouraged the students to work continuously to improve their technical skills. Totally 35 students participated in this alumni interaction session.
