Key Highlights:

The expert speakers elaborated the following major points to the participants

v Dr. G.R. Balakrishnan explained the basic concepts of marketing and gave several ideas to develop entrepreneurship skills and advised the students to have knowledge about the product and financial feasibility and Break Event Point analysis while developing entrepreneurship skills.

v Dr. S. Sriram, being an entrepreneur, shared his experience and highlighted the advantages of becoming an entrepreneur. He further explained how to get strong knowledge about the supply chain management and advised to develop more start-up entrepreneurship in future.

v The students promoted and sold various products including stationeries, consumer eatables, and mobile accessories and were able to obtain more than 35 percent profit through sales day.

Outcome of the activity:

The participants were able to

v Promote their products and services which created an enthusiasm towards entrepreneurship.

v Exhibit their promotional skills through banner display and  product display which created a basic idea of entrepreneurship skill and implement various strategies to sell their products.

v Acquire basic idea of developing a relationship with the customers and demonstrate a passion towards start-up entrepreneurship.

Field Visit to Print-n-Pack Expo

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Field Visit to“Print-n-Pack Expo- 2022” on 13.08.2022 atIda Scudder Auditorium, Velammal Hospital Campus, Madurai.

Print-n-Pack Expo – 2022 is an annual printing and packaging expo organized by Madurai District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA). In this fair, 130 stalls were displayed. Machinerymanufacturers, inks, chemicals and services of printing and packaging field, from all over India participated in the fair. To add more significance, Seminars and Workshops on various hot topics were conducted.

The main objective of this field visit is to gain access to the latest trends and technology in Printing Sectors and also to imbibe knowledge from the experts’ talk on emerging pressure-sensitive labels, requirements, basics of colour in printing, maintenance of machines, etc. The Students interacted with the dealers in the stalls and clarified their doubts.

Totally, 85 students were benefitted through this visit.

v The essay and drawing competition on the theme “Vision for India” was conducted in the drawing hall of Animation Department at 11.00a.m. Totally, 11 students from various departments participated in the essay competition and 5 members participated in drawing  competition.

v Faculty members from different departments visited the drawing hall and encouraged the students.

v The singing competition on patriotic theme focused on Achievements @ 75 was conducted in the Audio Lab of Viscom Department at 11.00 a.m.  Totally, 9 students participated in the competition under the encouragement of 14 faculty members.

v The slogan competition on the theme Actions @ 75 was conducted in the drawing hall of Animation Department. Totally, 5 students participated in slogan competition under the encouragement of 12 faculty members.

Outcome of the activity:

v The students participated enthusiastically in various competitions conducted in the mentioned two days and exhibited their patriotism through their performance.

v The essays, drawings and slogans exhibited the essence of patriotism for India, and also the honor that they pay for our country.

v The winners were awarded for their performance in various competitions.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Kapilan Ramarajan, shared his experience to the students about the importance of labor law, ESI policies followed in the hotel industry, ways to apply for provident fund and benefits of the PF account, FSSAI Process, Law for covering to give a star classification, GST filling process, and NOC Process for getting the star hotel approval. This webinar motivated and encouraged the students, besides making it a memorable experience.

Know the Unknowns of Mathematics”

D.P.Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Workshop on “Know the Unknowns of Mathematics” on 12.08.2022 at 09.00 a.m. in the Animation Academic Lab-I of our college premises.

Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Siva Subramanian, Head & Asst. Prof, Dept. of Mathematics, SLCS,acted as the resource person.

He started the workshop with a series of basic mathematical functions such as, Basic arithmetic’s, geometry etc.The Animation characters’ movements functionswith translation, rotation and scaling in the animation studios, which needs calculation in every aspect. In regard to the area of Graphic Design, the mathematics plays a vital role in the creation of designing materials like banners, posters, advertisements, packaging etc.

The workshop concluded efficiently and receivedpositive feedback from the students. Totally, 85 students were benefitted through this event.

·         He passed over the Bridge course manual, lesson plan, time table and attendance log sheet to the class representative. An Entry level Test was conducted for the students to test their level of understanding.  The respective staff members started their bridge course according to the schedule prepared by the Head of the Department. A few parents and Alumni interacted with the students. Finally, an Exit level Test was conducted.

Professional Development Program on “Women Entrepreneurial Avenues in Food Industry”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Professional Development Program on “Women Entrepreneurial Avenues in Food Industry” on 10.8.2022 at 12.00pm at KVK, Theni. The Home Science Subject Matter Specialist, Mrs. R. Ramya Siva Selvi, was the resource person.  She  provided hands-on-training to the faculty on honey processing with the equipments such as, honey storage tank, honey sachet packing machine, handy induction sealing machine and honey filling machine. She also highlighted the working principles of some food processing and preservation equipments such as, vegetable cutting machine, pulverizer, grape seed oil extraction machine, solar dryer, shade drier and various types of nutritious garden. Faculty members gained a practical knowledge through interaction, industrial exposure, and employment opportunities. They procured the entrepreneurial skills to develop new food products and marketing strategies emphasizing the women entrepreneurship and also understood the role of younger generations in the development of rural community. Totally, 5 faculty members were benefited through this program.
