HANDS-ON TRAINING ON “DATA SCIENCE USING PYTHON”

Netkings Association of Networking Department organized Hands-on Training on “Data Science Using Python” on 28.10.2022. The session started with the prayer song. Ms.A.Harshitha, I B.Sc Networking, welcomed the gathering. Inaugural address was given by our Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal, Dr. K. Archunan. Our Head of the Department, Mr. M. Athigopal, introduced the Guest, Dr. L. S. Swasthimathi, Assistant Professor, SIES College of Management Studies, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. Our Chief Guest clearly explained the concept of Data Science, its process of gathering actionable insights from raw data that involves various concepts which include statistical analysis, data analysis & modeling, machine learning algorithms, preprocessing of data, etc. and gave hands on training using Spyder IDE (Python) with a sample dataset and demonstrated how to split training and testing data with logistic regression. Totally, 26 students got benefited by this hands-on training. The Vote of thanks was given by Mr. P. Prasanth, III B. Sc Networking, and the session ended with the National Anthem.

National Level Workshop and Competition “Blend Beyond”

Our II B. Sc. Marine Catering and Hotel Management students participated in National Level Workshop and Competition, conducted by the Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management, Kongu Arts and Science College, Erode on 27.10.2022. Four students of II B. Sc. MCHM participated in various competitions like Quiz, Mixologist, and Role Play. Our student, Mr. A. Divyadharasan, won first prize in Quiz competition and Mr. K. P. Karthick babu, won Third prize in Mixologist competition.  This helps the students to  motivate and encourage themselves to make a memorable experience.

ISDC Orientation Program for ACCA (UK) Course

An exclusive Orientation Program for ACCA (UK) course was conducted for the First year students of B.Com. (Honours) ACCA (2022-25 Batch), Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. The program was organized by the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Bengaluru scheduled on 27.10.2022 at 11. AM. The Speaker of the Session, Ms. S.Subathra, Academic and Operation Support Associate, International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Bengaluru presented the keynote address enlightening the students with various aspects of ACCA and its integration in the syllabus. She discussed different modules in the ACCA program like, Ethics and Professional Skills Module while highlighting the key features. She projected a clear understanding of the Awards that can be won from ACCA on completion of papers. She discussed the Registration requirements and other documentation procedures to be followed. She gave instructions regarding the examinations and the period within which they are conducted. She provided details on the fees and the mode of payment. She emphasised various ways through which the student can reach out to them and receive their full fledged guidance and support. The event concluded with an interactive question and answer session in which the students had actively participated and got their doubts clarified. Finally, our Head of the Department, Dr. D. Selvaraj expressed his gratitude towards the ISDC committee for their valuable time and energy to put forth such a knowledgeable and informative session. He further thanked them for their exemplary efforts in providing support to the students and helps them reach great heights of success. Totally, 18 students of I ACCA participated and got benefited through this program.

 

ALUMNI INTERACTION

Department of Networking organized an Alumni interaction session for I year Networking students on 26.10.2022. Our alumnus Maheswaran (2019-2022 batch), stressed the importance of pursuing certificate courses in areas of their interest. He created awareness about Linux (OS) and the opportunities available in the IT sector and also shared his work experience based on Linux (OS) environment. In total, 37 students benefited from this alumni interaction session.

23rd Graduation Day

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and R L Institute of Management Studies, Madurai, organized 23rd Convocation Day on 22nd October 2022. Dr. R. Lakshmipathy, the Honorable President, commenced the ceremony with an invocation and declared the opening of the ceremony.     Dr. R Sujatha, Principal, delivered the welcome address.

Shri. CA. T. N. Manoharan, Founder Partner Manohar Chowdhy & Associates Chartered Accountants, Chennai, as the Chief Guest, delivered the Graduation Day Address. In his speech, he mentioned that the job oriented courses offered by the college would immediately provide job to the students. He emphasized the students that curiosity towards education leads to success. He insisted on developing values like, self confidence, hardwork, perseverance and intelligence. He impressed the audience with the story of “French Revolution and the Three Cook” highlighting distinctiveness of working for wages, quality and contribution.  He enhanced on the point that, graduates should be disciplined which will help them to identify their talents and build their career. Totally, 423 candidates have been awarded with the degree.  Dr. R. Lakshmipathy, President of the college insisted the motto of the College ‘Learning for Better Living’. He reinforced that an employer looks beyond the Degree Certificate that an employee holds.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

      Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science conducted an alumni interaction session for the 2020-23 & 2021-24 batch students on 21.10.22.   Our alumni Ms. Amirthavarshini and Ms.Aparna (2019-22 Batch), who got placed in RRSK & Associates, Bangalore addressed the session. The session focused on current market expectation from fresh commerce graduates. They shared their start to end placement experience and work experience in RRSK & Associates. They also motivated the students by giving tips on preparing for interviews in Auditing firms. It was an interactive session among the students and the alumni. The students eagerly participated and gathered information from the alumni. Totally, 48 students participated in the session and got benefitted. The session ended up with a vote of thanks by the students.

AWARENESS ON FIRE CRACKERS & FIRST AID

Department of Fire and Industrial Safety & Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized an OUTREACH ACTIVITY on “AWARENESS ON FIRE CRACKERS AND FIRST AID” at KovilangulamVillage, Viruthunagar on 20/10/2022. Totally, III year students (8 Nos) and PG diploma students (5 Nos) along with Mr. R Brameshwaran, Assistant professor, FIS conducted the activity. They created awareness on safe handling of fire crackers and first aid, safer cracker holding techniques, basic first aids, etc. This activity created the awareness among the children to maintain their health and safety and to know about the precautions to be followed. The volunteers insisted the school students to follow the do’s and don’ts in handling crackers. During this activity students explained the causes and effects of the fire crackers among the children.

The aim of this campaign is to emphasize and highlight about the need of following the safety measures during the festival. The children rendered their cooperation & ensured us that they will follow the safety measures. Nearly, 60 children got benefited through this activity.

Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – Awareness Programme on “Safe Handling of Fireworks During Festive Season”

Lakshaya Association, Department of MBA, organized an Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Safe Handling of Fireworks During Festive Season” on 20th October 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at CDS Middle School, Kovilangulam Village, Virudhunagar. The event was organzsed to create awareness on safe handling of crackers. Mr. R. Brameshwaran, Fire & Industrial Safety expert, briefed the preventive measures to be taken while handling fireworks. The students made poster presentation. Totally, 20 MBA students participated in the activity. Dr. R. Sivajothi and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

 

Outreach Program (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) on “Step Up For Bone Health”

To commemorate “World Osteoporosis Day – 12th October 2022” FAGAS association and Health and Nutrition Club of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management celebrated World Osteoporosis Day on the theme of ““Step Up For Bone Health”, organized an outreach program (SLCS-Samaaj Seva) on World Day on 20.10.2022”, Our students explain the importance of calcium to prevent osteoporosis and also slow down the bone density loss associated with osteoporosis. Totally thirteen students of II year FSPM students participated in this outreach program and 10 members got benefited from this activity.
