TOTEM 2023- A State level Cultural Meet

On 17.02.2023, students from Marine Catering and Hotel Management competed in the “TOTEM 2023- A State level Cultural Meet” Competition hosted by Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College and Theni-Anantham, Madurai. Mr. A. Kasinathan, II MCHM, actively participated in the Vegetable Carving competition. He received II Prize and a participation certificate. This competition motivated and encouraged the students and also made it a memorable experience.

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY

Department of Fire and industrial safety organized a Demonstration session on “Fire Fighting Techniques Observing National Science day” to the KRS School Students and Staff members on 17.02.2023. The objective of the program is to create awareness to the students on how to control fire accidents and rescue operation and its procedure to reduce the intensity of future disasters. Mr. I. Vivek Ramkumar explained the fire hazards in the workplace and how to act safely in the event of an emergency fire situation; including selecting and using the correct fire extinguishers. He also insisted on ensuring whether the emergency assembly area is accessible and safe for the  school children and staff. Totally, 165 KRS School students benefited through this session.

Exposure Visit to Understand Innovative Strategies adopted at Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited

ZEAL Association of the Department of BBA along with the Institution’s Innovation Council – SLCS, conducted an Exposure Visit to Understand Innovative Strategies adopted at Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited, Kattur, Lalgudi Taluk, Trichirappalli District on 15.02.2023. Mr. V. Ramachandran, Senior Manager – Technical, Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited, acted as a guide. He explained the various steps including crushing, extraction of juice, clarification, evaporation, crystallization, centrifugation and refining involved in the processHe explained that through innovative double refining methods, they get clear crystals of sugar with premium quality.  In total, 2 Students from II BBA and 38 Students from I BBA eagerly participated in the program.

Seminar on “Budget Talk”

ZEAL Association of Department of BBA organized a Seminar on “Budget Talk” on 13.02.2023 at Seminar Hall. Dr. Wajahat Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Thiagaraja School of Management, was the guest speaker. The guest explained the salient features of Union Budget, which was presented in the Parliament by Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Seetharaman, for the financial year 2023 – 2024.  In total, 9 students of I BBA and 8 students of II BBA presented papers on budget of different sectors of India. Totally, 70 students of BBA attended the seminar. Through this lecture, the students gained an exposure on Union Budget.

TVR Memorial Inter Department Tournament (Kabaadi, Throw Ball)

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Intra College TVR Memorial Inter Department Tournament for students (Kabaadi for male and Throw Ball for female) on 02.02.2023, 06.02.2023 and 09.02.2023 in the college playground with great fanfare and success, much accentuated by the glorious presence of the Principal. A total of 160 players from various departments participated in this mega intra-college tournament. This generated a lot of enthusiasm among participants and spectators. The match was very high on skills and strategy. Members from various teams showed some exhilarating skills and temperament to make the finals very entertaining for the spectators. In the intra-college Kabaadi (M) tournament, B.Sc. (MC&HM) took first place, and B.COM (ACCA) took second place. B.COM (B&I) secured the first position, and B.COM (ACCA) secured the second position in intra-college Tournament of Throw Ball (F). The principal distributed the trophies among the winner and runner-up teams. Consolation prizes and certificates were also distributed to all the participants. In her special address, the Principal praised the efforts of the Sports Committee of the College for holding the event and also appreciated the players’ performances.

Seminar on “Benefits of Ayurvedic Treatment”

Consumer Awareness Club & Department of BBA conducted a Seminar on “Benefits of Ayurvedic Treatment” on 08.02.2023. Dr. Sindhana, B.A.M.S, Medical Officer, AVN Arogya Ayurvedic Centre acted as the guest speaker. The students of Consumer Club and II BBA attended this program. Dr. Sindhana explained the source of Ayurveda in India and the various factors that help in Ayurveda. She briefed on the various benefits of Ayurvedic treatment such as absence of side effects, healing the root cause and cost effectiveness.  The queries raised by the participants were clarified by the speaker. This activity was organized by Dr. B. Meenakshi Sundaram, Assistant Professor, BBA & Coordinator, Consumer Awareness Club. In total, 10 students of consumer Club and 29 Students of II BBA eagerly participated in the activity.

 

Students Discussion on Union Budget 2023-24

Department of B.Com (B&I) organized a session for Students discussion on Union Budget 2023-24. Mr. Nagarjun Nallasamy N, III B.Com B&I, initiated the discussion on Union Budget 2023-24 with very important points as follows:

India’s Fiscal Estimations and its impact, Changes in Direct and Indirect taxes, Growth of Agriculture sector, Development of Education, Health Care, MSMEs, Start-ups, Infrastructure – railways, roadways, logistics, green growth and energy, Basic Amenities and Housing. Students interacted enthusiastically well on the pros and cons of union budget and its impact. Totally 159 students from I & II year B.Com (Banking and Insurance) participated in the session.

Alumni Interaction session on “Sharing Guidance to Upcoming Professionals”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management and the Alumni Cell jointly organized an Alumni Interaction session on “Sharing Guidance to Upcoming  Professionals” for our I&II year students on 06.02.2023 at 10:00 a.m. in G13 hall of our college premises.SAbinaya and M. Poornima Devi (Batch: 2019-22) acted as the speakers for the session.  The speaker spoke on the positive impact of food and nutrition field and explained the variety of fields, careers in Food Science network. It inculcates vast knowledge and experience. Students can be benefited through the opportunities and experiences provided for building additional professional connections. Totally, 22 students participated in this interactive session.

 

 

“Quiz Bites”

On 06.02.2023, 2 students from Marine Catering and Hotel Management competed in the “Quiz Bites” Competition hosted by Anjali and the South Indian Culinary Association (SICA) in Chennai. Mr. C Gokul and Mr. K B Karthick Babu, from second year, actively participated in the competition. The students received a participation certificate. This competition motivated and encouraged the students with a memorable experience.
