EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE -MIME COMPETITION

Extra Curricular Activities Committee of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, organized a  Mime competition on the  theme ‘Impact of covid 19’ and ‘Women empowerment’. It was  held on 15.03.2021 in the seminar hall of our College. In this competition there were three teams  participated. Students various  departments  registereed  their  names  for  this  Event  Successfully.

Conveners of this event were Mrs.N.Selvi, Assistant professor ,Department of Tamil welcomed the Participants and explained the rules and regulations for the Mime competition.

Mr.K.Perumal kannan, Assistant professor, Department of MCHM also represented the event and evaluated the Mime performance of the Students. Score sheet was also given to the evaluators, the conveners and members who awarded  the marks based on the theme.

Finally the competition ended  and the participants were appreciated for their wonderful performance. Around 15 students participated in the competition.

Deworming Day

National Service Scheme and Red Ribbon Club of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and Primary Health Centre of Valayankulam Jointly organised an extensive programme. This programme was organised to commemorate the Deworming day on 15-03-2021. Mrs.V.Shanthi, Chief Nurse of Valayankulam handed over the Deworming tablets to the Principal and initiated the programme. Totally 257 students were the prime beneficiaries.

OUT DOOR CATERING (ODC) at COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT

Seven second year students from the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management were given an opportunity at Courtyard by Marriott Madurai, to be a part of outdoor catering (ODC) on 14.3.21. They were able to gather knowledge about outlet operation procedures, Buffet Setting, Table setting for Banquet Hall and many modern techniques. This opportunity motivated and gave hands- on experience to the students.

OUT DOOR CATERING (ODC) at Madurai Drive Inn Restaurant, Madurai

Twelve second year students from the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management were given an opportunity at Madurai Drive Inn Restaurant, Madurai , to be part of outdoor catering (ODC) on 9.3.21 and 12.3.21 to 13.3.21. They were able to gather knowledge about outlet operation procedures, Mise en Place work, Buffet arrangement, Table setting for Banquet Hall and many modern techniques. This opportunity motivated and gave hands- on practice to the students.

EXTENSION ACTIVITY-“Online Games vs Vintage Outdoor Games”

The Department of CS, as a part of their Extension Activity recorded and aired a progreamme “Online Games vs Vintage Outdoor Games” through SLCS’s Community Radio Shyamalavani on 13.03.2021 at 02.30 PM. Six students from II B.Sc CS (SSS) performed a skit “Online Games vs Vintage Outdoor Games”, a play about the importance of playing outdoor games. This play disseminated the message to interact with society by playing out door games instead of playing online games.

MENTOR MEETING

On behalf of the department of CS, the third mentor meeting for the Even semester 2020 – 2021 was conducted on 12.03.2021 from 3.00 PM-3.50 PM in the Academic Labs and in the shade of trees. All mentors of the department met their mentees separately. Students shared their talents and areas of interests to their mentors. They, also, shared their grievances and personal problems. Mentors also appreciated their talents and encouraged them to participate in the annual day events.

INTERNET CLUB- BRAIN GAME COMPETITION

                The members of Internet Club conducted the competition “Brain Games” on 12.03.2021 in Academic Lab. All I, II and III year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

                   Totally 64 students participated in this event. Two students participated per team. This event was a memory based one which includes speed maths, fast paced exercises. These games cultivate fast thinking skills of the students. Finally three teams had been shortlisted for awarding prizes. It was really an entertaining and informative event for the participants.

The Readers Hub – Aringargalai Ariga Competition

The Readers Hub  of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized “Aringargalai Ariga” competition on 11th , March 2021,   in the Seminar Hall  of our college. In this competition  7  students  participated . Students from various departments registered their names and participated in the event successfully.

Convener of this event  Ms.R.Sailakshmi, Assistant professor, Department of  Tamil welcomed the Participants and explained the rules and regulations of the Aringargalai Ariga competition.

The Team member of this event ,Mrs.N.Selvi, Assistant professor, Department of  Tamil  represented the Event and Evaluated the event “Aringargalai Ariga” . Score sheet was also given to the evaluators, the conveners and members  awarded the marks based on their knowledge , body language , level of confidence  and their presentation style.

After the successful completion of the events, the convener and members of the competition awarded the  marks on the basis of  their performance.

Finally the competition ended  and the participants were appreciated for their wonderful involvement. 07 students participated in the competition and the names of the winners were declared. Students were motivated to take part in larger number in future.

ART & MEDIA CLUB – FACE PAINTING COMPETITION

The Art & Media club organized a Face Painting Competition on 11.03.2021 at Animation Drawing Hall. The students of SLCS had a chance to participate in the “Face Painting Competition” in the Drawing Hall held on 11.03.2021. Mr. Deepan Chakravarthy, Assistant Professor, Department of Networking invited as the Judge of the Competition. The topic was “Preserve Nature”. Colorful faces which were beyond recognition were a delight for the students and teachers alike. One could hear peals of laughter even though the message that the student teams tried to give were serious in nature. 14 students from all the departments participated in the competition and showed their creativity using the face as their canvas.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB-PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The Photography club has organized a special event 10.03.2021 for the students from various departments. The student coordinator of the club Ms. K. K. Subashree, II B.Sc Computer Science and the member of the club had organised the event. The event was held through Google Meet and Google classroom from 3.00 PM to 4.30 PM. Students of I & II year have actively participated in the special activity.

          First, a Google form was created for the students and circulated among them. Students those who are willing to participate in the event had to register. The club has received a maximum registration of 75 participants for the event. After that, students were assigned a topic to shoot and given time to do so. The photographs were reviewed by the judge. We had invited Mr. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Assistant Professor, Department of Animation, SLCS to choose the best photographs. The photographs were reviewed based on the various criteria. Finally the judge picked up three photographs which were best. The list in presented below. The competition was a grand success with the help of student coordinators and members of the club. The participants were provided with a certificate.
