Objectives of the activity:

 

·        To gain knowledge about Linux kernel mode, user mode and differentiate Kernel structuring methods

·         To demonstrate internal file system structure with device drivers and file operations using system calls.

·         To summarize the principles of Virtual memory as applied to paging & caching techniques.

·         To gain knowledge for various OS case studies.

 

Outcome of the activity:

At the end of the session, the participants were able to:

1)      Classify Linux Kernel mode with user mode & contrast between Kernel structures.

2)      Implement different system calls for various file handling operations

3)      Determine paging and Caching techniques related to Virtual Memory.

4)      Debate various case studies.

Exposure Visit to Incubation Centre – PSNA College of Engineering and Technology – Dindigul”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA along with the Institution’s Innovation Council – SLCS, organized “Exposure Visit to Incubation Centre – PSNA College of Engineering and Technology – Dindigul” on 17.04.2023Dr. Vincent, Convener, Institution Innovation Council, PSNA College of Engineering and Technology, welcomed our students. The students visited incubation centers of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab. They had an exposure on establishing incubation center with innovative ideas and also had idea of converting incubation into a successful business model. In total, 3 Students from II BBA and 49 Students from I BBA participated in the exposure visit.  Dr. B. Meenakshi Sundaram, Assistant Professor, Department of BBA, assisted students for this visit.

Industrial Visit to Palmar Spinning Mills, Sempatti, Dindigul”

On 17.04.2023, ZEAL Association of the Department of BBA organized an Industrial Visit to Palmar Spinning Mills, Sempatti, Dindigul.  This company deals with spinning of threads from Cotton and Polyester. The purpose of this visit is to learn the process of production and logistics in textile industry. They have sophisticated automated machines with the state of art technology for production process. They have blow room machine, carding machine, draw frame, lap former, comber, roving frame, spinning frame and winding frame. A dedicated team of 600 employees engaged in different shifts. Our students learnt the process of cleaning, combing, roving process, spinning process and also stacking of materials in warehouses.  They got aware of the equipments and machineries used in the above process.
In total, 49 students from I BBA and 3 students of II BBA were benefited through this visit.

Seminar on “Basic Traits of Entrepreneurship in the Current Business Era”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA along with the Institution’s Innovation Council – SLCS, conducted a seminar on “Basic Traits of Entrepreneurship in the Current Business Era” on 16.04.2023Mr. J. S. Dhilip Chandran, Product Negotiation Specialist, Corporate Vendor Management Services and Mr. R. Saravana Kumar, Managing Director, Sentersoft Technologies, Virudhunagar, were the speakers. The first session was handled by Mr. J. S. Dhilip Chandran. He explained the nature and key role of entrepreneurship and also the details regarding the traits and skills required for an entrepreneur. The second session was addressed by Mr. R. Saravana Kumar. He discussed on the role of Innovation and Digital transformation in developing entrepreneurship. In total, 6 Students from II BBA and 36 Students from I BBA took part in the event. In addition to this, 10 HSC students along with their parents eagerly participated and got benefitted through this program.

Value Added Course on “Food Safety Course Level 2”

                          Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Value added course on “Food Safety Course Level 2” from 07.03.2023 to 13.04.2023 at Zoom meet. This course was presented to the students which included theoretical and hands-on-training programs with food safety aspects. Mr.Venu Vinayagam – Director AVT Academy for Professional Education has been invited as the trainer for the value addition program. The session was started with an activity which elaborated the essentials of food safety and contamination associated with the production of food. It further focused on identifying the root cause and controlling and managing the preservation of food in the food industry. Towards the end of the session, students were able to gather an appreciable level of knowledge in the food safety and its strategies and the risk in food safety measures posed by specific micro-organisms. Totally, 37 (I, II &III year) students from the department of FSPM have actively participated in this program.

Promoting Health from Climate Change Observing “World Health Day”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, organized an Outreach Activity on “Promoting Health from Climate Change” Observing “World Health Day” on 12.04.2023 at Kalikapann, Sivagangai Road, Madurai. The theme line of WHO (World Health Organization) “Protecting Health from Climate Change” towards World Health Day was explained to the people of that village. Students of I and II BBA promoted the importance of maintaining health. They also raised slogans and displayed posters for promoting health. Totally, 40 students from I BBA and 4 students from II BBA eagerly participated in the program.

Inter-departmental “Dumbsharade” Competition

The Hospitality Education Network (HEN) Association of the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management conducted an inter-departmental “Dumbsharade” competition on April 11, 2023. Students from various departments (totaling 32 students) actively participated in the competitions. K.R.TRISHIKA and SK.SHATHISHRI, II B.Com. B&I, took first place, and SOLAIAPPAN SIVABALAN.S. and P.ILAKKIYA RAJA, II FSPM, took second place; S.GOKULAKANNAN and G.PRASANNA, II B.Sc. (SSS), took third place in this competition..

Value Added Course on “Nutrient Analysis”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a Value added course on “Nutrient Analysis” from 06.04.23-11.04.23 at Tamilnadu Food Grains Yard, Madurai. This course was presented to the students which included theoretical and hands-on-training programs with experimental aspects. Dr.K.Singaravadivel, Director, Tamilnadu Food Grains Yard Madurai has been invited as the trainer for the program. The session was started with an activity which elaborated the significance of nutrient analysis in various foods.  Towards the end of the session, students gathered an appreciable level of practical knowledge on nutrient analysis techniques with much interest. Totally, 13 (III year) students from FSPM have actively participated in this program.

Workshop on Data Driven Business Decision

A Workshop on Data-Driven Business Decision was organised by the Lakshya Association of the MBA Department on April 11, 2023 at 9 a.m. in the Seminar Hall.

Dr J K Sharma, Executive Director, IIMT University, Greater Noida, spoke on the objective of decision-making, better insights on data mining, cost reduction, competitive advantage, and improved customer experience.

 

Totally, 123 students (68 I- MBA, 9 – Anna University, 46 – BBA)and 8 faculty members participated in the workshop, Dr R Sivajothi and Dr K S KarthikBabu were the coordinators.

 

SLCS-Samaaj Seva – Extension Activity on “SWACHHTA HI SEVA”– Cleanliness is service”

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a SLCS-Samaaj Seva—Extension Activity on “SWACHHTA HI SEVA”—Cleanliness is Service, as a one-day cleaning activity at Nedumadurai Temple, Madurai, on 10.4.2023. Totally, 23 students and 1 faculty members from Marine Catering and Hotel Management took part in this program and created awareness among the rural people  about importance of green environment in their surroundings. As a part of the program, they started walking along the street, collected plastic waste, and cleaned the temple. Students actively participated in the program by giving it their full support, which made it a great success.
