v The speaker narrated the qualities of successful entrepreneur, SWOT Analysis, and the various government funding agencies that promote students entrepreneurs.

v The students were accompanied by Dr.Kumaran Thayumanavan, HoD, Dr. B. Meenakshi Sundaram Assistant Professor and Mr. B. Vairamuthu, Assistant Professor – Department of BBA.

Outcome(s) of the activity:

v Students were able to understand the concept of Startup ideas.

v The Students showed keen interest in generating business ideas They also obtained the knowledge and guidance from the speaker to become an entrepreneur.

Career Guidance Program on ”Importance of Art in Animation and the Opportunities behind”

D.P. Roy ChoudhuryAssociation, Department of Animation, organized a Career Guidance Program on “Importance of Art in Animation and the Opportunities behind” on 18.08.2022 at 11.00 a.m. in theAnimation Academic Lab.

Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering.  Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Lecturer cum Eminent Artist, Govt. college of Fine Arts, Chennai, was the chief guest of the event.

He owned the stage and enthralled the enthusiastic audience with his illustrations.He said that,‘Art is an appearance of illustration where the focal purpose is to express a visual demonstration of a design, thought, or mood for applying in video games, films, animation, or comic books before it is put into the ultimate creation. The upcoming junior artists like you need to have understanding of brainstorming, concept mapping, and aesthetic issue in all kind of Art domain’.

The animation industry as it has developed a strong hold over TV content, movies, gaming and advertising. As the entertainment, education (e-learning) and gaming industry is increasingly becoming dependent on special effects, a career in animation offers concrete and lucrative prospects globally.

The program concluded with a positive feedback from the students.
Totally, 85 students were benefitted through this event.

·        The expert spoke about the newest innovations in the pre-booking stage, guest pick-up, fast check-in at the front office area, as well as technological inventions in guest rooms such as Panels, One Touch, Environment, Mini Bar, Wi-Fi, Dockets, TV facilities, etc., and also the importance of Digital Feedback mechanisms, Innovation in Energy Saving, and Technology in Safety and Security Systems.

·        The expert explained the digital marketing, its growth in sales sectors, and the use of social media in hotel promotion.

Outcome(s) of the activity:

Students were able:

1.      To understand the Innovation in Hotel Industry

2.      To apply  Digital Marketing  in Hotel Promotion

3.      To utilize the social media for Hotel promotion.

Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Be Part of the Solution, Not the Pollution”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Be Part of The Solution, Not the Pollution” on 17.08.2022 between 10.00am-12.00pm at Town Hall Road, Madurai on the theme “Plastic Free Environment”.  This program is arranged to enable the students to examine the role of product packaging and resources and identify the packaging materials and its hazards. The main aim of “Anti-Plastic Abhiyan” is to create awareness on banned single use plastic products among the sellers and buyers in order to protect the environment from the harmful effect caused by the same. Our students created awareness among the people to avoid plastic use and start using Paper Straws and Cloth Carry Bags. The students spread awareness not only on the harmful effects of plastic but also on the effect of chemicals present in it and also on bottles, which can cause health hazards. They encouraged the benefits of using eco-friendly products in order to reduce the pollution. Students were able to inculcate eco-consciousness among the young generation which would contribute to the benefit of the society for a healthy life.Through this activity, students made the people aware on the limitations of different packaging materials, when it comes to direct contact with various food items. Totally 13 students participated and 20 members got benefited from this activity.

Workshop on “Value addition in millets”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a workshop, a session on Value addition in millets on 16.08.2022 at 2:30 pm in SLCS Galley of our college premises. Mrs. M. Ramyasivaselvi, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), KVK Theni, acted as a chief guest. The resource person gave very good information about different types of millet-based products and their scope in value addition. The students were trained to make value added millet products. Overall, this session gave a good knowledge and exposure on individual talents. Totally 31 students of FSPM actively participated in this workshop

Seminar on Achieving proposition fit and business fit through innovation in millets

A seminar on “Achieving Proposition Fit and Business Fit through Innovation in Millets”  was jointly organized by the Department of Food Science and Processing Management and SLCS Institution’s Innovation Council on  16.08.22 at Seminar Hall .Mrs. M. Ramyasivaselvi suject matter specialist (Home science), KVK, Theni, acted as the chief guest. During this seminar, the resource person clearly explained the thematic area for food processing. She gave information about various innovated millet products and its benefits. She discussed what the ICAR schemes for value addiction are & Bio fortified agriculture products, and job opportunities. Overall, the seminar was highly beneficial for students and they gained a good knowledge on food products, especially for millets.  Totally, 31 students from I, II & III years actively participated in this seminar.

Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Promoting Wellness and healthy lifestyle through locally available Natural Foods”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Promoting Wellness and Healthy Lifestyle through Locally Available Natural Foods on 15.08.2022 between 08.00am-10.00am at Jeeva Nagar, Madurai on the theme “Eat a healthy meal out of Nature”.  This program is to create awareness among the public about health and fitness and inculcate the importance of informal education and also to understand the community in which they work. Our students promoted wellness and healthy lifestyle through the preparation of various food products that is available locally, which is nutritious and safe for consumption emphasizing our tricolor flag. They explained the role of each and every citizen in the development of our nation through a song. It helped to improve the general standard of living for both students and the public. This program developed a sense of social and civic responsibility in them, gained skills in mobilizing and community participation. Totally 13 students participated and 23 members got benefited from this activity.

v To give a practice about the risk management among the students’ entrepreneurs.

Key Highlights:

The expert speakers elaborated the following major points to the participants

v Dr. G.R. Balakrishnan explained the basic concepts of marketing and gave several ideas to develop entrepreneurship skills and advised the students to have knowledge about the product and financial feasibility and Break Event Point analysis while developing entrepreneurship skills.

v Dr. S. Sriram, being an entrepreneur, shared his experience and highlighted the advantages of becoming an entrepreneur. He further explained how to get strong knowledge about the supply chain management and advised to develop more start-up entrepreneurship in future.

v The students promoted and sold various products including stationeries, consumer eatables, and mobile accessories and were able to obtain more than 35 percent profit through sales day.

Outcome of the activity:

The participants were able to

v Promote their products and services which created an enthusiasm towards entrepreneurship.

v Exhibit their promotional skills through banner display and  product display which created a basic idea of entrepreneurship skill and implement various strategies to sell their products.

v Acquire basic idea of developing a relationship with the customers and demonstrate a passion towards start-up entrepreneurship.

Field Visit to Print-n-Pack Expo

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organized a Field Visit to“Print-n-Pack Expo- 2022” on 13.08.2022 atIda Scudder Auditorium, Velammal Hospital Campus, Madurai.

Print-n-Pack Expo – 2022 is an annual printing and packaging expo organized by Madurai District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA). In this fair, 130 stalls were displayed. Machinerymanufacturers, inks, chemicals and services of printing and packaging field, from all over India participated in the fair. To add more significance, Seminars and Workshops on various hot topics were conducted.

The main objective of this field visit is to gain access to the latest trends and technology in Printing Sectors and also to imbibe knowledge from the experts’ talk on emerging pressure-sensitive labels, requirements, basics of colour in printing, maintenance of machines, etc. The Students interacted with the dealers in the stalls and clarified their doubts.

Totally, 85 students were benefitted through this visit.

v To motivate the students to be a responsible citizen of India.

Key Highlights:

The following competitions were held between 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

v The essay and drawing competition on the theme “Vision for India” was conducted in the drawing hall of Animation Department at 11.00a.m. Totally, 11 students from various departments participated in the essay competition and 5 members participated in drawing  competition.

v Faculty members from different departments visited the drawing hall and encouraged the students.

v The singing competition on patriotic theme focused on Achievements @ 75 was conducted in the Audio Lab of Viscom Department at 11.00 a.m.  Totally, 9 students participated in the competition under the encouragement of 14 faculty members.

v The slogan competition on the theme Actions @ 75 was conducted in the drawing hall of Animation Department. Totally, 5 students participated in slogan competition under the encouragement of 12 faculty members.

Outcome of the activity:

v The students participated enthusiastically in various competitions conducted in the mentioned two days and exhibited their patriotism through their performance.

v The essays, drawings and slogans exhibited the essence of patriotism for India, and also the honor that they pay for our country.

v The winners were awarded for their performance in various competitions.
