Herbert William Henrich Association, Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, along with Environmental Health and Safety club, celebrated the World Pollution Control Day through an awareness program on 02.12.2022. Dr. N. Somasundaram, Principal, Rukmini Shanmugam Polytechnic College, Madurai, gave the guest lecture on World Pollution Control. He explained the theme of World Pollution Control Day for this year and the important methods of controlling the pollution. He highlighted pollution prevention should be a motive of an individual’s life and it should be encouraged in the society to segregate the waste from houses and other places and reduce the usage of plastic products to protect the Environment from the disposal of waste and other activities. He emphasized that Resources should be used with care and economy. Totally, 98 students and 5 faculty members got benefitted through the seminar.
Alumni Interaction on Developing Career Skills
In association with Alumni Cell, Department of Computer Science (SSS) conducted a session – “Alumni Interaction on Career Skills” for II B.Sc. CS (SSS) on 02.12.2022. Mr. N. Aashiq Ahamed, Associate Security Engineer, Crossbow Labs, Bangalore, was the Alumni of 2017 – 2020 batch. He interacted with the students on his experience in the Industry. He shared the knowledge that is required to develop their skills in cyber security domain. He explained how to do bug bounty in IT field for gaining knowledge. He advised the students to learn domain related courses with their tools and techniques. He described the importance of Value Added Courses (VAC), Workshop and Guest Lectures offered by our college. Totally, 34 students got benefited.

Workshop on“Concept Art”
D.P.Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation organized a Workshop on “Concept Art”on 02.12.2022 from 10.00 a.m.– 05.30 p.min the Animation Academic Lab.
Mr.P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation, welcomed the gathering. Mr.Jeeva, Freelance Concept Artist, Chennai,acted as the chief guest of the event.
The main aim of this event is to know the role ofConcept artists at present. He addressed that they are playing a vital role in conceptualizing and developing a wide range of creative assets in several circumstances. These artists are extremely good at what they do and must possess various abilities to succeed. He also stated that a concept artist is responsible for creating everything you see in a video game or film. Weapons, props, vehicles, characters, clothing, buildings, interiors, and every minute detail of the character fall into this category. He advised the students that concept art is a rapidly rising area, yet it is also fiercely competitive. Therefore, you will require expert-level art principles like perspective, anatomy, composition, light, and tone to get started as a concept artist (among other things). To captivate the realistic details that pitch, you will need to spend a lot of time practicing from scratch.
The programendedsuccessfully and received a positive feedback from the students. Totally,94 students from I, II, III UG& PG Animation were benefitted through this event.
WORKSHOP ON WEB DEVELOPMENT USING AN OPEN SOURCE ANGULAR
Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized Two days workshop on “Web Development using an Open Source Angular” for III B. Sc CS (SSS) students on 01/12/2022 & 02/12/2022 from 09:00 AM to 04:30 PM. A. Yuvashree, III B.Sc CS (SSS), Compeered the session. V.Nivedha, III B.Sc CS (SSS), delivered the Welcome address. The chief guests, Mr.Subash, Team Leader and Mr.James, Angular Developer, Amizhth Techno Solutions, Madurai, was introduced by S. Badri Narayanan, III B.Sc CS (SSS). Mrs. D. Padmapriya, HoD, delivered special address on the importance of web development.
The resource person started the session with the introduction of an Open Source Technology Angular. He elaborated the importance of Angular of web development in IT industry. Trainers interacted with the students and clarified their doubts. At the end of the second day session, the students were advised to develop a project by following the software engineering life cycle using the topics they learnt during the workshop. Students learnt several advanced concepts in Angular for developing their Mini Project. Totally, 43 students participated in the workshop.
Industrial Visit to “Menorah Stationery Pvt. Ltd., Madurai”
D.P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, organizedan Industrial Visit to Menorah Stationery Pvt. Ltd., Madurai, on 01.12.2022 for III B.Sc. Animation &I P.G. Diploma in Animation Techniques students.
The main aim of this trip is to witness the manufacturing of the stationery products.In a systematic manner, they have witnessed the various stages involved and the role that the employees play.
The in-house printing and finishing products supported by their
product development and designing team helped them to create economy & premium stationary items for essential purposes.Through this visit, the students understood production efficiency and supply chain management and got an insight about the manufacturing of the books and other products and their safe storage in the warehouse.
It is an absolute productive way to observe, understand and learn something outside the college premises, which paves the way for their better future.The Visit ended fruitfully and totally17 students were benefitted through this visit.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON “MAKING HANDICRAFTS USING WASTE MATERIALS”

Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation,organized anExtension Activity – Skill Development Programme on “Making Handicrafts using Waste Materials” on 01.12.2022 at Eliyarpathi Village. Totally, 20 Students from II Year Animation participated in this event.Mr.Arul Yogaraj, Asst. Prof., Dept of Animation,acted as the resource person for the event.
The Main aim of this event is to impart short duration skill development trainingto rural people of the village on “Recycling of Waste Materials into Hand Crafted Product”. He also addressed that the state and central government is trying to enhance the income of traditional clusters of the country and towards making India a $5 trillion economy. Ministry is implementing various schemes for skill to improve the productivity of skilled people, which leads to enhance the earning capacities to ensure sustainable livelihood.He demonstrated making an Artistic Handicraft Material with some of the Waste Products available there. Heastonished the people of the village with his artistic skills.
The People thanked and appreciated the department to bring this activity to their village. Totally, 50 people got benefitted through this program.
SLCS-Samaaj Seva – Extension Activity on “SWACHHTA HI SEVA”– Cleanliness is service”
Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a SLCS-Samaaj Seva—Extension Activity on “SWACHHTA HI SEVA”—Cleanliness is Service, as a one-day cleaning activity at Nedumadurai Temple, Madurai, on 1.12.2022. Totally,27 students and 2 faculty members from Marine Catering and Hotel Management took part in this program and created awareness among the rural people by providing pamphlets to them and suggesting them to create a green environment in their surroundings. As a part of the program, they started walking along the street, collected plastic waste, and cleaned the temple. Students actively participated in the program by giving it their full support, which made it a great success. The people in the village appreciated the efforts made by the students and the coordinator.
Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Emphasizing the Importance of Immunization”
To commemorate “World Immunization Day”, FAGAS Association of Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Outreach Program SLCS Samaaj Seva on “Emphasizing the Importance of Immunization” on 30.11.2022 at 3.00 in Kariapatti. This day aims to spread the incredible health benefits of getting vaccinated and how it can prevent many diseases and disorders. Vaccination has become the need of the hour in today’s world. A breakthrough in helping to eradicate many illnesses, such as measles, mumps, rubella, polio, smallpox, and the latest pandemic, COVID-19 that has been infecting millions of people over the past few years. The importance of vaccination cannot be stressed enough, since age-old times. Our students created awareness on the power of immunization, as it is one of the best health measures that a human can take for his own good. Vaccines, not only control infectious diseases and major outbreaks but also it is a primary tool in providing anti-microbial resistance to all the people, especially lactating mothers. Totally, 13 students participated and 20 people got benefited through this activity.
Seminar on “CYBER AWARENESS”
The IQAC & Students’ Council and Welfare Committee of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, jointly organized a Seminar on “Cyber Awareness” on 30.11.2022 at 11 am in the College premises for the welfare of the students. Mrs. Muhil, a leading Psychologist from Madurai, was the Resource person. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Assistant Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, delivered the Presidential Address. Followed by her the Dean Academics, Dr. S. Priya, introduced the Chief Guest to the Forum.
Mrs. Muhil, in her enlightening session, described and clearly stated the issues faced by today’s generation because of the Social Media. The Chief Guest initiated her speech with an ice breaker session which motivated the students to concentrate. She also projected some clippings how social media is manipulating & triggering the young generation. The session was really an eye opener for all the students. Totally, 262 students and 10 faculty members participated in the seminar. Dr. R. Bhagavathy Lakshmi, Assistant Professor of CS cum Students’ Council & Welfare Committee member proposed the Vote of Thanks.
