52ND NATIONAL SAFETY WEEK CELEBRATION

Department of Fire and Industrial Safety celebrated 52nd National Safety Week in the college campus on 06.03.2023 through the following events- Flag hosting, Safety equipment exhibition, seminar and planting of saplings. The President and Management Executive of the college hoisted the flag and   Dr. R Sujatha, Principal, inaugurated the safety equipment exhibition. Our department combined with  Vishnu industrial product showcased the various safety equipments used in industry and commercial places. The seminar was conducted on the topic- “Innovative Technology to Improve Safety in Construction”. The resource person, Mr. Prabhu, Director, NRP Industrial Safety Service, explained various hazards in construction. After the seminar, the planting of saplings activity was conducted.  Totally, 69 students got benefited through this event.

Green initiative – Sapling Plantation in College garden

Department of Commerce (B&I) was involved in Green initiative – sapling plantation in the college garden on 03.03.2023. The students showed their interest towards planting of Jasmine, Keshavardhini, Cat whisker, Menthol & Solanum Trilobatum, Pomegranate, Guava, Indian Blackberry and few other medicinal saplings. They understood the importance of planting saplings. They voluntarily undertook the responsibility of caring the saplings planted in the college garden. They shared the information on the importance of planting saplings, creating a natural eco system through planting of saplings in different places.  Trees represent nature, life, peace etc.; they produce oxygen, clean soil, improve physiological, mental and spiritual health. They took pledge to plant as many trees as possible near their areas, so as to create healthy environment. Totally, 159 students from I and II year B.Com (Banking and Insurance) and 4 faculty members participated in this event.

Seminar on “Innovation in Food Product Development”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management and Institution’s Innovation Council jointly organized a seminar on “Innovation in Food Product Developmenton 03.03.2023 at Seminar Hall. Mrs. J. Saranya – Project Associate, TN Regional Hub, Madurai, acted as the chief guest. The resource person clearly explained the thematic area of innovation in food product development. She also focused on the product being unique and superior, good understanding of consumer needs and preferences, careful planning at the concept stage of product development, top management support, involvement of senior personnel, thorough market research, effective product marketing and launch. Totally, 22 students actively participated in this seminar.

Professional Development Program on “Steps Involved in Developing an Innovative Product”

A professional development program on “Steps involved in developing a Innovative Product” was organized by the Department of Food Science and Processing Management on March 3, 2023 at 2 p.m. Ms. J. Saranya, project associate at Startup TN-Madurai Regional Hub, served as the resource person and provided an overview of the product development process, which is regarded as an essential component and even the lifeblood of sound company strategy. She explained that the focus should be on the values like the product being unique and superior, good understanding of consumer needs and preferences, careful planning at the concept stage of product development, top management support, involvement of senior personnel, thorough market research, effective product marketing and launch. The program was concluded successfully to the greatest satisfaction. Totally, 3 faculty members were benefited through this program.

Expert Talk on Process of Innovation Development

ZEAL Association of Department of BBA organized an “Expert Talk on Process of Innovation Development” on 03.03.2023 at Seminar Hall. Mrs. J Saranya, Proprietor, Next Gen Sprouted Health Mix, Madurai, was the guest speaker. The guest explained the various methods of Innovative Development in Business Process. The above activity was conducted to enhance the MOU signed with Next Gen Sprouted Health Mix, Madurai. In total, 46 students of I BBA attended the program. Through this lecture, the students gained an exposure on Innovative Development process in business ventures.

Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) – Distribution of Stationery and Personal Grooming Kit to School Children

Lakshaya Association, Department of MBA, organized an Outreach Activity (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on 1st March 2023, at N.M.R.Subburaman Memorial Primary School, K.K. Nagar, Madurai.

Stationery, personal grooming kits and groceries were contributed by our students.

Totally, 56 Second Year MBA students participated in the activity. Dr. S. Sekar and Dr. D. Abraham Pradeep were the coordinators.

REPORT OF FREE TANCET COACHING

R L Institute of Management Studies in association with Dinamalar conducted a two-day free TANCET Coaching Class for the final-year UG students on 25.02.2023 and 26.02.2023 at The Madura College. The curtain of the program drew open with the prayer song following which Dr.M.Subramanian, HOD, RLIMS welcomed the TANCET aspirants.

Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the inaugural address by underscoring the paramount importance of managing time effectively to attain goal in one’s life. Dr. V. Joseph Paulraj, Professor and HOD of MBA, Anna University Regional Campus, Madurai, enlightened the participants on how to scrape through the TANCET examinations at ease and about the various strategies the participants must employ to secure good score in the exam. The technical sessions were handled by the faculty members of RLIMS.

The coaching enabled the participants to acquire a great deal of insight into the TANCET examination and its various aspects. In order to access the understanding level of the participants, quiz programs were conducted during the sessions. Around 220 Under Graduate final-year students from different colleges across Madurai participated in this program.

Filed Trip-Keezhadi, Sivaganga District

On 25.2.23, the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management went on a field visit to Keezhadi, Sivaganga District, with the second and first-year students (40 students). The students are aware of the Keezhadi excavation, which was carried out by a team of archaeologists from Tamil Nadu and Kerala and discovered a Neolithic burial site dating back to 4900 BC. The excavations were carried out in Keezhadi village near Madurai in Tamil Nadu between 2013 and 2015. The excavation also revealed human habitation during the Sangam period (Sangam-age settlement). There are evidence of burial under mounds or cairns containing pottery vessels and other objects made from stone slabs or clay, and they found several cemeteries with human remains and animal bones, besides other artifacts such as beads, pottery, and stone tools. Students will gain a better understanding of Tamil civilization and have a memorable experience as a result of this field trip.
