Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a one day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)” in collaboration with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) for the Commerce faculty members working in the college on 03.01.2020. Resource Person, Mr. Madesh Kuppusamy, ACCA-UK Certified Faculty & a registered Faculty with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India delivered a talk on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for an effective student centric teaching and learning. The FDP is designed so as to upgrade the teaching, training, and research skills of commerce faculty members in the field of Accounting.
Guest Lecture
Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a Guest Lecture on Accounting Standards for the I & II year B.Com (Honours) and the I year B.Com (Honours) ACCA students on 03/01/2020 afternoon. Mr. Madesh Kuppusamy, ACCA-UK Certified Faculty, Registered Faculty with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, addressed the students. He shared his work experience in the accounting field. He enlightened the students on the applications of accounting standards in real business scenario. He highlighted the important differences between the International Financial and Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Indian Accounting Standards (IndAS).Totally, 61 students participated and got benefitted through the session.
ANITALKS
The Department of Animation organised a three day workshop on 2D Animation, Storyboarding, Digital Matte Painting and 3D Animation for I and II year Animation Students on 25.12.2019 (Wednesday), 26.12.2019 (Thursday) and 28.12.2019 (Saturday). Industrial Experts Mr.C.Alagappa, 2D Animator, CHU CHU TV, Chennai, Artist Mr.Ravi Pallete, Madurai, Mr.Gopi, Digital Matte Paint Artist and Mr.Jeyabalan, 3D Animator, Knack Studio, Chennai were the Chief Guests. Ms.J.Nivetha, II B.Sc. Animation, Student Executive, DP Roy Choudhry Students’ Association delivered the Welcome Address. Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Department, Introduced the Chief Guest & spoke about the importance of Workshop. The Principal Dr.B.Ramamoorthy, delivered the Presidential Address. IQAC Advisor Dr.R.L.Ramnath delivered the Felicitation Address. Dr.S.Priya, Dean – Academics, delivered the keynote address. Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator of the Department, spoke about the Salient Features of the Workshop. Guest Lecturers shared their industrial experiences and taught the students about Basic Perspective concepts, Background designing, Character Turn around & Animation, Story Boarding, Matte Painting Techniques and also clarified the students’ doubts. Ms.B.Swetha, I – B.Sc. Animation, delivered the Vote of thanks. Department Faculty Members Mr.M.Purushothaman, Mr.P.Kishore Kumar and Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim played a key role in conducting the workshop.
Alumni Interaction
Alumni of the Department of MC&HM Mr. Rahul Mahadev Dhole and Mr.Shubham Sunil Shedge (2014-2017 batches) had an interaction with our students on 23.12.2019. They shared their experiences in the Shipping and Hotel industry. They spoke on the duties and responsibilities of a General Steward, the documents required for joining a Shipping Company and the opportunities available in the Shipping industry for catering students. They also spoke of the Safety Drill practices followed in ships.

SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL DEATH ANNIVERSARY (20:12:2019)

Dr. Ramamurthy has spoken about the history of Indian independence and explained clearly about how the India was united by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Second year student Anand Raman, Venkadesh spoke about life history and achievements of Sardar Vallbhbhai Patel. Finally first year student Dhanush gave vote of thanks and we conclude the program with Quiz interaction to student. The students felt that the program was very useful to them.
Value Added Course – Python Programming (MTA)
The Department of Networking conducted a Value Added Course “Introduction to Python Programming (MTA)” for the II B.Sc Networking students from 18.12.2019 to 20.12.2019. Senior Trainer, Mr.N.Shaliya, Founder and Managing Director at Zerame Infotech, Chennai, trained the students.
Extensional activity
As part of the extensional program the students of the Department of Commerce B.Com (B&I) went to the Govt. School, Nedumadurai. Through this program the students of B.Com (B&I) created awareness on ‘Road Safety’ to the VIII students, who in turn, were asked to educate their parents on road safety. The awareness was created through Skits, Charts and interaction. Nearly 50 students benefited through this program. Prof.R.Damotharan coordinated the program. The Head master of the school appreciated the students of B.Com (B&I) for their tremendous effort.
Exposure Visit to VOC Port Trust
ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an Exposure Visit to VOC Port Trust on 07.12.2019. The students understood the various operations related to marine logistics. The port operations were also explained in detail. The students also had the opportunity to visit a vessel on shore and witness the functions of the control room.

The Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a one day Guest Lecture for the I &II year B.Com (Honours) and I year B.Com (Honours) with ACCA students on 12/12/2019(Thursday). CA Ayanar, a practicing Chartered Accountant (CA), addressed the students. He highlighted the opportunities available for Company Secretaryship (CS). He also emphasized through his interaction with the students that basic concepts of subjects should be understood well in order to gain strong knowledge.Totally, 42 students participated and got benefitted through the session.
