BREAST FEEDING WEEK CELEBRATION

FAGAS Association from the  Department of Food Science and Processing Management and Health & Nutrition Club jointly organized a Breast Feeding Week Celebration on the theme “Protect breastfeeding: a shared responsibility“. Based on this, two competitions were conducted for the students of SLCS on 07.08.2021.

Online quiz Contest was held on the “Importance and benefits of Breast Feeding” through Google meet(https://forms.gle/6Snus5ZpggD8N89e7)& Drawing competition was also held on the theme entitled “Joy of Breast Feeding” through Google meet (https://forms.gle/1ZHjPNLTrxgfQkmM9). The main motto of these activities focus on how breastfeeding contributes to the survival, health and wellbeing of all.  Totally 26 students (22 student from FSPM & 4 from Health and Nutrition Club )participated in this program and got benefited.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

A prominent Alumna of Computer Science Department, Ms.M.S.Ragem (Batch: 2018 – 2021), Security Engineer, Ozone Cyber Security, Kerala interacted with the III year CS (SSS) students on 07.08.2021. She shared her interview experience in ozone Cyber Security and Triemp companies. She insisted the students to complete all the assigned work within the duration. She encouraged the students to develop time management skills during the college days. Also she urged the students to learn new technologies in software field. Entirely the session was an eye opening session for the students.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

On 07.08.2021, Alumnus of Computer Science Department, Mr.A.K.Aakash (Batch: 2018–2021), Operations Executive, Infosys Ltd, Bangalore interacted with III year CS (SSS) students (Batch: 2019-2022), through Google Meet. He shared his experience which he had undergone during the interview process in Wipro, Infosys and Triemp. He insisted the students to be strong in any one of the programming languages. He encouraged the students to develop the leadership skills and Time Managements skills. Also he insisted the students to learn the aptitude and reasoning skills for clearing non-technical interview rounds during the recruitment process.

WEBINAR ON “JAVA AWT,SWING & DATABASE CONNECTIVITY”

The department of Computer Science(Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “Java AWT,Swing and Database Connectivity” to the II B.Sc.CS(SSS) students for designing a GUI interface with Database connectivity using Java Language. The webinar was arranged through Google Meet on 06/08/2021 from 11.00AM to 12.30PM. This webinar was arranged for giving awareness on the latest technologies for “Java Programming”. The webinar was started with the welcome address by Mr.Jeyaram, II B.Sc. CS(SSS). The felicitation address was given by Mrs.J.Varalakshmi, Asst.Prof. of CS(SSS).

The Chief Guest Mr.Sabarinathan Muthu,Executive Manager,Gateway Software Solutions, Madurai demonstrated a live session on the importance of SWT in Java and the following:

  • Eclipse tool
  • Graphical user controls in SWT
  • How to Create a Login form
  • How to perform event handling for MouseClicks,MouseDoubleClick
  • How to make a database connection

 Finally vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.Bala Ganesh, II B.Sc. CS(SSS). The association members of TechnoFest,  Department of CS(SSS),Ms.Deepthi, II B.Sc-CS(SSS) and Ms.SivaSankari, II B.Sc-CS(SSS)  compeered the entire session. Totally 51 students attended the session and got benefitted. The students were given the feedback form to give their feedback about the session.

WEBINAR ON “SDLC IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING”

The department of Computer Science(Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “SDLC in Software Engineering” to the III B.Sc.CS(SSS) students for understanding SDLC phases in software industry. The webinar was arranged through Google Meet on 03/08/2021 from 11.00AM to 12.00 Noon. This webinar was arranged for giving awareness on the latest technologies for “Software Engineering” and “.Net programming with C# Lab”. The webinar was started with the welcome address by Mr.Naveen Kumar, III B.Sc. CS(SSS). The felicitation address was delivered by Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, Department of CS(SSS) and the felicitation address was given by Mrs.J.Varalakshmi, Asst.Prof. of CS(SSS).

The Chief Guest Mrs.Nirmala Devi, Trainer, Abservtech, introduced their company, history of Abervetech and the latest trends in Software Industry. The Chief Guest Mr.Suriya Narayanan, Senior Software Developer, Abservetech, Madurai elaborated on the importance of SDLC phases in software engineering and also briefed about the following:

  • .NET Framework and their supported languages like C#,Pascal
  • Latest Frameworks in PHP like Laravel,Codeigniter, Symphony,Yii,Smarty, CakePHP, Zend Framework

ALUMNI INTERACTION

On 03.08.2021, an alumnus of Computer Science Department, Mr.Suriya Narayanan (Batch: 2016–19), Senior Software Developer, Abservetech, Madurai interacted with III year CS (SSS) students (Batch: 2019-2022), through Google Meet. He emphasized the students to be updated in upcoming technologies in software development domain. He encouraged the students to develop the self learning skills and problem solving skills. He encouraged the students to utilize the resources offered by college in an effective manner. Also he informed the students to contact him if they have any clarifications regarding UI development.

SLCS – Samaaj seva – Extension Activity -“Share the Meal”

The Department of MC&HM inculcates social values and responsibility among the students community by involving them to participate in various extension activities on the title “Share the Meal” at various places in and around Madurai city.

Nine final year students from Marine Catering and Hotel Management has taken part in the programme they prepared and distributed two different variety of rice (around 40 packets of food) to the needy people. They also distributed free face mask and hand sanitizer at a nominal cost of Rs 20 to the nearby Thirupparankundram Panchayat, Madurai on 03.8.21.

The volunteers have been taking necessary hygiene precautions by wearing gloves and face masks and using hand sanitizers during food distribution.
We feel that as human beings, it’s our responsibility to help the most vulnerable amongst us in their time of need.

Webinar on “FCP Boot camp: Go From Beginner to Advanced”

The Medius Coronet Association of Visual Communication department conducted a webinar, FCP Boot camp: Go From Beginner to Advanced for its students on 02.08.2021. Totally 40 students (II B.Sc-12, III B.Sc-25, II M.Sc-3) participated in this event.  The inaugural session was started by 10:00 am. Ms. Susmitha from II B.Sc Visual Communication delivered the welcome address. Mr. Dhas Thanikachalam, Chief Guest of the day gave a lecture on Editing techniques. Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Head incharge, department of Visual Communication delivered the key note address. Ms. K A Sujatha of final year B.Sc Visual Communication proposed the vote of thanks and the event concluded with the National Anthem.

Editing techniques was the topic of the session, Mr. Dhas Thanikachalam gave an illuminating lecture on Editing techniques using FCP. The session was very beneficial to the students. They enthusiastically participated in this event and asked technical oriented questions, which were answered by the guest. The program was a grand success.
