Report: Alumni Interaction Session – Industry Insights & Production Pipeline

On June 30, 2026, the Department of Animation and VFX at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized an interactive session for the first-year B.Sc. Animation, VFX, and Film Production students. The session featured our distinguished alumnus, Mr.G.Niranjan, who provided valuable insights into the current animation and film industry landscape and detailed the technical production pipeline.

Provide students with a realistic overview of the professional animation and VFX industry. Explain the end-to-end production pipeline, from pre-production to post-production. Motivate first-year students by showcasing the success journey of an alumnus. Mr.G.Niranjan engaged the students with a comprehensive presentation covering several critical
areas:
Industry Overview: He discussed the evolving trends in the global animation and VFX markets, emphasizing the growing demand for skilled professionals who understand both creative aesthetics and technical workflows. The Production Pipeline: Mr.G.Niranjan provided a detailed breakdown of the industry-standard production pipeline:

Pre-production: Concept development, storyboarding, and animatics. Production: Asset creation, modeling, rigging, and animation. Post-production: Lighting, rendering, compositing, and final color grading. Skill Requirements: He highlighted the importance of mastering software tools while maintaining a strong foundation in artistic principles like timing, spacing, and storytelling. Q&A Interaction: The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where students cleared their doubts regarding career paths, internship opportunities, and the importance of building a robust
portfolio early in their academic journey.

The interaction was highly informative and served as an eye-opener for the first-year students. By sharing his real-world experiences, Mr.G.Niranjan helped the students align their current learning goals with the requirements of the industry. The department extends its gratitude to Mr. G.Niranjan for his time and for contributing to the professional growth of our students.

FRESHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

Department of B.Sc. Animation (VFX and Film Production) The Freshers’ Day Celebration for the first-year students of the Department of B.Sc. Animation (VFX and Film Production) was held on 2nd July 2026 from 8:40 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event was organized by the second-year and third-year students to warmly welcome the incoming batch of creative talent.

Department Introduction: The program began with an engaging overview of the department. Seniors highlighted the creative landscape of the industry, showcasing the department’s achievements, ongoing film projects, VFX laboratory activities, and the diverse career opportunities available in the field of animation and post-production. Talent Showcase: The event featured a vibrant talent showcase where first-year students enthusiastically displayed their artistic skills—ranging from digital sketching and character design concepts to performance art—demonstrating the creative potential of the new batch. Interactive Session & Games: The celebration included ice-breaking games and an interactive session designed to foster collaboration. These activities allowed the freshers to connect with their seniors in a fun, relaxed environment, bridging the gap between batches.

Feedback & Conclusion: The event concluded with a feedback session, where the first-year students expressed their excitement and appreciation for the warm, inspiring welcome. Overall, the Freshers’ Day celebration was a highly successful event. It provided a perfect platform for the new students to feel comfortable, motivated, and deeply connected with the
department, setting a positive tone for their upcoming journey in the world of animation and film production

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & MACHINE LEARNING DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

The Department of Computer Science (AI & ML) celebrated Artificial Intelligence Appreciation Day on 16/07/2026 at TVR Hall. The event was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about the significance of Artificial Intelligence, its evolution, and its impact on modern society through interactive and engaging activities.

The programme commenced with a Welcome Address, followed by an exciting activity titled “AI Detective: Find the Fake”, where participants identified AI-generated and real images, voices, and text samples. This activity helped students understand the rapid advancements in Generative AI and the importance of distinguishing AI-generated content from authentic content.

A Presentation on the “Evolution of Artificial Intelligence” was delivered by Kisshore T J – III B.Sc CS(DSA), explaining the journey of AI from its early development to the latest advancements in Generative AI. The session highlighted the milestones, real-world applications, and future scope of Artificial Intelligence across various domains.

An interactive game, “Guess the AI Model/Tool,” was conducted by third year students. Participants from first year identified popular AI platforms and tools from their logos. The activity enhanced students’ awareness of widely used AI technologies and their practical applications.

The event also featured an AI Debate on the topic “Will Artificial Intelligence Create More Opportunities Than It Replaces?” Two teams from I B.Sc CS(AI&ML) and           III B.Sc CS(DSA) presented their views supporting and opposing the statement. The debate encouraged critical thinking, effective communication, and a balanced understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with Artificial Intelligence.

 

 

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Management, Principal, faculty members, and all participants for making the celebration a meaningful and successful event. The programme successfully inspired students to appreciate Artificial Intelligence, understand its responsible use, and explore its future potential in education, industry, and society.

Totally 79 number of students attended the program.

DEPARTMENT OF BBA(L&SM) NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY CELEBRATION ON 29.06.2026

The Department of BBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) organized the National Logistics Day Celebration on 29th June 2026 from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.” The programme was conducted with the active participation of 39 students, and the session was led by the III BBA (L&SM) students, who shared their knowledge and perspectives on the logistics and supply chain industry. The primary objective of the celebration was to create awareness among students about the significance of logistics and supply chain management in the economic development of the nation. The session also aimed to educate students on the latest trends, technological advancements, government initiatives, and the wide range of career opportunities available in the logistics sector. In addition, the programme encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship, startups, and self-employment opportunities in logistics and allied services. During the session, the student presenters highlighted the vital role of logistics in connecting production, transportation, warehousing, distribution, and customer satisfaction, emphasizing its contribution to national and global trade. They also discussed the growing demand for skilled logistics professionals, the impact of digital technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics, and the importance of sustainable logistics practices in the modern business environment. The programme successfully created awareness among participants regarding the importance of logistics and supply chain management in supporting economic growth and infrastructure development. Students gained valuable insights into emerging career paths, higher education opportunities, industry expectations, and government initiatives related to the logistics sector. The interactive discussions motivated students to consider careers in logistics, supply chain management, and logistics entrepreneurship with greater confidence and enthusiasm. Overall, the National Logistics Day Celebration was highly informative and inspiring, enriching students’ knowledge and strengthening their interest in pursuing successful careers in the rapidly expanding logistics and supply chain management industry.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE-BANKING AND INSURANCE ECO Club-Inauguration-11.07.2026

The event was inaugurated by Mr. N. Arunkumar and Dr. A. Devi, who shared valuable insights on the vision, objectives, and activities of the ECO Club. Through their inspiring addresses,they highlighted the importance of developing environmental consciousness among students and encouraged active participation in initiatives aimed at protecting nature. They also emphasized the club’s commitment to promoting “Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Future” by creating awareness, adopting eco-friendly practices, and contributing towards a greener and more sustainable planet.

Outcome of the Inauguration:
The ECO Club inauguration created awareness among students about the importance of environmental protection and sustainable practices. The program motivated students to actively participate in eco-friendly initiatives and understand their responsibility towards conserving natural resources. It also encouraged students to develop innovative ideas and involve themselves in future activities of the club aimed at promoting “Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Future.” The
event successfully inspired students to contribute towards building a greener and more sustainable environment.

TRADE CLUB Trade Club Inauguration (2026–27) on 11.07.2026

As part of the departmental initiative to promote commerce awareness and student engagement, the Department of Commerce (Honours & ACCA) inaugurated the Trade Club on 11.07.2026 at S1 and S2 Halls, Subbalakshmi Block. The programme aimed to introduce the objectives and activities of the Trade Club and encourage students to actively participate in its
future initiatives. The faculty members welcomed the students and highlighted the importance of trade and commerce in developing practical knowledge, analytical skills, and professional competence. To make the session interactive, a scrambled commerce words activity was conducted. Students were divided into teams and asked to rearrange scrambled letters into
meaningful commerce-related terms such as Trade, Market, Profit, Cost, Bank, and Money. After each correct answer, a brief explanation of the respective commerce concept was provided, enabling students from different academic backgrounds to understand basic trade-related terminology in an engaging manner. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation, with
students actively collaborating and enjoying the activity. It successfully created awareness about the fundamentals of commerce while promoting teamwork, interaction, and communication skills. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by the faculty coordinator, who appreciated the students active participation and encouraged them to take part in the upcoming Trade Club
activities.

REPORT ON INAUGURATION OF AI CLUB

The Inauguration Ceremony of the AI Club was successfully conducted on 11.7.2026 at 12.40- 1.30 pm in F-6 and F-20 hall. The AI Club Coordinator introduced the club's vision, mission, objectives, and the roadmap of activities planned for the academic year. The proposed activities include technical seminar, coding contests, project, research discussions and competitions. Students were invited to register as club members and actively contribute to organizing and
participating in these initiatives. The interactive session with the students to clarify their doubts regarding AI technologies, higher education, research opportunities, and career prospects.The AI Club Inauguration was a grand success and laid a strong foundation for fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in Artificial Intelligence within the institution. Totally 57 students participated in this program.

DSA & AI&ML – Alumni Interaction and Freshers Day

The Department of Computer Science (Data Science & Analytics) &  Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) organized a Freshers’ Day Celebration on 02 July 2026 (Thursday) to warmly welcome the first-year students of B.Sc. Computer Science (Data Science and Analytics) and B.Sc. Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning). The programme was conducted with the objective of helping the newcomers feel comfortable in their new academic environment, fostering interaction between senior and junior students, and creating a sense of belonging within the department.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of the students of II B.Sc. Computer Science (Data Science and Analytics) and III B.Sc. Computer Science (Data Science and Analytics), who played an active role in organizing and conducting the programme. The seniors warmly welcomed the first-year students and shared their personal experiences of college life, highlighting the academic and personal growth they had achieved during their years in the department.

During the interaction, the senior students introduced the newcomers to various opportunities available in the college. They explained the importance of participating in technical events, seminars, workshops, coding competitions, hackathons, paper presentations, certification programmes, internships, and placement training activities. They also encouraged the freshers to actively engage in clubs, sports, cultural programmes, and other extracurricular activities, emphasizing that these experiences contribute significantly to personality development, leadership skills, teamwork, and self-confidence.

The seniors also shared useful tips on effective time management, maintaining a balance between academics and extracurricular activities, preparing for university examinations, and building strong technical skills throughout the course. Their guidance helped the first-year students gain a better understanding of college life and inspired them to make the most of the opportunities available on campus.

To make the programme lively and enjoyable, the senior students organized a variety of fun-filled games and interactive activities. The freshers participated enthusiastically in these games, which helped break the ice and encouraged them to interact freely with their seniors and classmates.

The programme concluded on a joyful note, with the freshers expressing their happiness and appreciation for the warm welcome extended by their seniors. The Freshers’ Day celebration successfully strengthened the bond between senior and junior students, promoted a positive learning environment, and made the newly admitted students feel confident and excited about their journey in the Department of Computer Science. Totally 94 students participated in the session.

 

Alumni Interaction- B.COM (Computer Application and FinTech)

The Department of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) & Department of B.Com (Computer Application and FinTech) organized an Alumni Interaction Session on 30 June 2026 at Chola Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The session was conducted by Mr. Prakash, an alumnus of the 2014–2017 batches, and Ms. C. Abinaya, an alumna of the 2020–2023
batch.
The programme was organized for the first-year B&I students to provide valuable insights into the Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF), its curriculum, the courses offered, and the diverse career opportunities available in the banking and finance sector. The speakers shared their academic experiences and professional journeys, motivating students to enhance their knowledge and career readiness.A total of 125 students from the first and third years participated in and benefited from the interactive session.

Alumni Interaction Life of a Food Product Developer

Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Alumni Cell jointly Organized an Alumni Interaction session on “From Kitchen to Carton: Life of a Food Product Developer” for the students of I N&D on 30 June 2026 in our college premises. Ms. K.M. Kanmani (Batch: 2020-2023) acted as the speaker for the session. The alumni briefed on the challenges in the food product development. She highlighted the essential role of R&D Associate, QA Executive and better employment opportunities
for student in the Research and Development. The alumni also interacted with the students and gave career paths available to Nutrition and Dietetics graduates. Finally, valuable guidance was given personally to the students who interacted after the discussion. Totally, 10 students participated in this interactive session.
