Extension Activity

From the Department of Networking, seven students and one staff went to government higher secondary school, Parapathi on 28.11.18.

The students  assembled and shifted  the systems in the new computer laboratory. With the help of airblower they cleaned the internal component of the system and checked the hardware and software configuration.

Our students Troubleshooted systems and had done the complete setup of the laboratory for the computer science students. They established the network connection between the systems and performed testing.

It was good exposure for the students  and also hands on experience for their career growth.

Career Counselling on Licentiate Coaching

Department of Commerce organized a Guest Lecture on Practice of Life Insurance on 24.11.2018, to II  B.Com (B&I) students. Mr.Arumgam,  Executive committee member, Madurai Institute of Insurance delivered the lecture on Practice of Life Insurance and Mr.Seenivasan, Secretary, Madurai Institute of Insurance, explained how the students must approach Licentiate Examination. Around 65 students participated and got benefited.

Extension Activity

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management have organized an extension activity in Avaniyapuram  rural village people on 22/11/2018. Our Department faculty members (Mrs G.S. Subbalakshmi, Mr Perumalkannan, Mr.P. Anand ) have delivered the speech and create awareness in the community about  food habits and food hygiene in their day- to -day life.

We have planned the program in terms of the strategies they wanted to adopt and to create awareness on the day – to – day issues related to health and hygiene and facing challenges on their food habits within the community. 25 peoples have participated and got benefitted in this program. We spoke to the Avaniyapuram Rural Village people and received a very positive feedback. Our campaign was successful in creating awareness on the food habits and hygiene.

Article Writing

             MUSE INDIA is a UGC Approved Journal and is a literary e journal.

Our MC &HM Department Student Mr. Gogulakrishnan, I year was written an article and uploaded in MUSE INDIA on the heading “Learning a (English) Language is Fun” on 22.11.2018.

Placement

s an outcome of various departmental activities like workshops, seminar, guest lecture, career guidance programmes and value added courses, department of CS & IT organized placement drive on 19.11.2018 at 10.30 AM for III B.Sc CS & III B.Sc IT students at Academic Lab II.

Two companies have conducted online test during that day namely Metro Labs, Hydrabad and Elint System, Salem. Both companies conducted online examination on general aptitude, language aptitude and technical aptitude. Mr.V.Lakshmi Kanthan, MD, Falconn Systems conducted online test for the students.

Outcome Based Education

A one day workshop on Outcome Based Education for the faculty members of  Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of science and R. L. Institute of Management Studies was conducted on 17th November 2018.The workshop began by 10.00 am and  Dr.M.G.Sethuraman, Professor of Chemistry, The Gandhigram Rural Deemed University, Gandhigram  was the chief guest for the meeting. More than 60 faculty members attended the meeting.

Principal, Dr.P.Saravanan welcomed the chief guest and the gathering for the workshop. The Honorable President of the college Dr.R.Lakshmipathy said that he also hailed from a chemistry background and was happy to invite Dr.M.G.Sethuraman as the chief guest for the workshop. He extended a word of honour and welcomed the chief guest to instigate the workshop.

Dr.M.G.Sethuraman started his presentation by congratulating the management and faculty for the NAAC, B+ Grade acquired. The work shop was initiated by Dr.M.G.Sethuraman briefing about Curricular Design and Outcome Based Education. Grand Goals of Education, NAAC’s metrics on outcomes, Cos’ consistency with Pos’ & PSOs’ and the Rubrics for performance indicators were the main areas of discussion.

Faculty of CS, BCOM, BBA, Viscom, MBA, Food Science, MCHM and English actively participated in the session by presenting the Course Outcome for one of their courses. It came to an end by the faculty being able to formulate CO’s, PO’s and PSO’S for their respective departments. The Management Executive Shri.R.Ramkumar and the Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan actively participated in the Workshop. The workshop wound up by 3.30 with Dr.Navarathinam, Associate Professor of MBA presenting a feedback. She said that, the workshop was very useful and all doubts were cleared regarding OBE. NAAC adviser, Dr.R.L.Ramnath delivered the vote thanks.

Children’s Day Celebration

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management celebrated Children’s Day on 15th November 2018 by inviting students of 9th standard of Krishnamal Ramasubbaiyer School, Madurai for ‘Health and Fitness Huddle’. The programme commenced with prayer, followed by welcome address by Dr. K. Amrutha Veena, Head of the Department. R. Sweakha and P. Sarumathi of I BSc. FSPM conducted an interesting interactive session named ‘FOOD FUNDA’ on ‘Nutrients and their Functions’. This was followed by a skit titled ‘Good Food to keep you Fit’. C. Sasi Prabha of I FSPM then conducted a picture quiz session named ‘Say NO to Junk Foods’. During the course of the programmes, the children were asked several questions posted on projector screen and children who gave correct answers were given gifts. All the children were very enthusiastic and the whole session was informative and fun filled. At the end of the session, an animated video show was shown on Balanced Diet. The session ended with Vote of thanks delivered by Ms. D. Subhashree, Assistant Professor followed by National anthem.

Orientation Programme

On 09.11.2018 Department of Animation conducted orientation program for the I, II, III Animation Students. Faculties explained about their subjects. Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Department urged students about the Discipline. He also advised students to clear their arrears as soon as possible. For III year students need for internship was explained and instructions to be followed during internship period were given.
