SLCS Samaaj Seva – an extension activity on “Mobile Banking” was organised by the “Lakshya” the Department Association of MBA Program on 03rd Feb 2022, at 10.30 am in the SBI Bank, Valayankulam, Madurai. The event was organised to facilitate the awareness and various aspects of Mobile Banking for the customers who visited the Bank. Dr. S. Sekar was the program Co-ordinator and our 12 MBA students (I MBA-6 Nos & II- MBA 6 Nos.) organised this program. Totally 15 people from the valayankulam surroundings got benefited out of this program.
“Preventing the people from the infected Community Dogs”
The I & II year students of Animation Department in the SLCS –Samaaj Seva-Extention Activity of “Preventing the people from the infected Community Dogs” on February 02, 2022 between 10.00 A.M to 01.00 P.M in the areas like Avanyapuram, Chinnaudappu, Valayangulam, Perungudi. Students of I year Animation prepared food for the activity for feeding the dogs with medicines and V.Suganeshwaran, P.Surya,B.M.Mathan Kumar and R.Balamurugan of II year Animation provided tremendous support on feeding the medicines for more than 40 Dogs.Along with the food ,tablets like Neomee and Praziplus were mixed to treat the Infected community dogs in order to prevent the further spread of any viral disease from these dogs to the people residing in the community. More than 500(200 Families) people benefited from this activity and totally 6 students participated in this activity.
Career Guidance Programme on “Corporate Expectations from a Fresher”
The Department of Animation organized a Career Guidance Programme on “Corporate Expectations from a Fresher” on 02.02.2022 (Wednesday) between 03.30 PM and 04.30 PM through Google Meet. Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person, Ms. Uma, Client Service Executive, Deolite Digital, Chennai. The purpose of this event was to enlighten the students about the important expectations from the industry when they enter into the Corporate Sector.
She advised the students to absorb the things whatever they see, adapt to the things in the market and also always be smart in doing things. The Company always expects from the freshersCommunication skills, Knowledge beyond textbooks, confidence,ability to lead,knowledge of foreign language(niche technology), ability to travel to different location, versatile and ability to engage people, ambitious about achieving things, team player. They collectively called it a RAINBOW factor.Overall,thesessionwasfilledwithknowledgeandvaluewhichcouldbeseenintheappreciationwegotpost-sessionfromparticipants.
Totally 55 Students from I & II year participated in this event.
SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – AWARENESS ON DREADFUL DISEASES
The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety & Hebert William Henrich Association jointly organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA – an extension activity on “AWARENESS ON DREADFUL DISEASES” at Viradhanoor Village & Kusavapatti Village on 31/01/2022. Totally 2 faculty members HoD i/c Mr.I.Vivek Ramkumar & Assistant professor Mr.B.Satheeshprabu along with III year students (11 Nos) have conducted the activity. They created awareness on dreadful diseases like Covid-19, AIDS, Dengue, Malaria etc. This initiative created the awareness among the people to maintain their self cleanliness and to know about the precautions to be followed. The students insisted the village people to wear mask and do their vaccination without fail. During this activity students explained the causes and effects of the diseases among the people.
The aim of this campaign is to emphasize and highlight about the need of following the safety measures during the pandemic periods. The Village people render their Cooperation & ensure us they will follow the safety measures. Nearly 45 villagers got benefitted through this activity.
SLCS – SAMAAJ SEVA Extension Activity- Awareness on Media Literacy
On 29.01.2022, the Department of Visual communicationconducted an extension activity (SLCS SamajSeva)visitingSamaam NGO women self-help group in Kaariyappatti. Ms. Catherin Esther Roselin along with nine students took part in it. They gave a lecture and PowerPoint presentation on Media Literacy. The people in the self-help group found the session was very useful.
SLCS Samaaj Seva -“Share a Meal”
SLCS Samaaj Seva – an extension activity “Share a Meal” was organised by the “Lakshya” the Department Association of MBA Program on 29th January 2022, at 1.10 p.m. in Maduri District. The event was organised to share a meal with the homeless. 20 MBA students distributed 37 packs of food to the homeless people.
Awareness on “The importance of thrift in family”
ZEAL, an Association of BBA Department, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an extension activity, “Awareness on the importance of thrift in family” on 29.01.2022. 13 underprivileged women from Nedumadurai, Valayankulam and Eliyarpatti (neighboring villages) participated and got benefited through the event held in the institution. Dr.B.Meenakshi Sundaram, AP – BBA coordinated the event with the support of Mr.B.Vairamuthu, AP – BBA. This activity was conducted as a part of the Samaaj Seva initiative promoted by the institution. The beneficiaries learnt the importance of thrift and the means of achieving it in the family. A questionnaire was also distributed to the participants and responses were generated to study their current awareness status towards thrift.
Student Achievement in CMA Exam
Ms. K.Sneha, Second year student of B.Com., (Hons’) ACCA, successfully passed the Foundation level examination conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (CMA) on 28.01.2022. She is also appearing for ACCA papers and CMA intermediate papers. Her academic performance is highly appreciable and career guidance is given by our Professors and Principal. The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA appreciated the remarkable performance of Ms. K.Sneha in the CMA Courses.
INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM ON “INTERCONNECTION OF MULTIDISCIPLINARY FACTS – AN APPROACH”
An International Program on “Interconnection of Multidisciplinary Facts – An Approach” was organised by the IQAC of SLCS 28.01.2022.
Mrs. K. P. Maheswari, Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) cum Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering. Honorable President Dr. R. Lakshmipathy graced the program with his presence. Principal Dr. R. Sujatha, delivered the Presidential Address. Vice Principal Dr. K. Archunan and Dean-Academics Dr. S. Priya delivered the Felicitation Address. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) cum Assistant Professor introduced the Resource Person to the Forum.
Mr. Baskar Madasamy, Senior Backend Engineer, Mashreq Bank, Dubai was the Resource Person. The resource person during his session insisted the students about the 10,000 hours concept in order to do things differently instead of doing different things. He also stated to have new ideas which have no formulas to achieve. All the students and faculty members enjoyed the session.
Totally 43 students and 26 faculty members attended the session. Mr. C. Suresh Kumar, HoD MC&HM and Mr. Vivek, I MBA student raised few queries to the resource person and their doubts were clarified with nutshell answer by the resource person. Ms. Padmini, II BBA Logistic & Shipping Management, proposed the Vote of Thanks and Ms. Madhu Bala, II B.Sc., Animation mastered the ceremony.
Extension Activity Through Smaaj Seva-Creating Awareness on Economic Empowerment of Rural Women Positively and Strengthen Food Security
The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized, an extension activity under the name of Smaaj Seva on “Creating Awareness on Economic Empowerment of Rural Women (40 members) and strengthening food security” on 27th January, 2022 at Avaniyapuram, Madurai. This activity was organized with the support of 6 faculty members and 7 students.
Mr. C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management stated that the rural women who are one-fourth of the world’s population play a critical role in the development of rural areas. He has explained how the food securities meet the satisfaction of nutrition needs of rural women. At the end of the session the teachers and students demonstrated the variety of millet foods to the rural women.
