SLCS Samaaj seva – Extension Activity on Planting saplings

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department conducted an Extension Activity at Eliyarpathi on 07.04.2022, Thursday, between 09:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. Totally 30 students from I& II Year B.Sc., Animation and 2 Faculty members participated in this event.The students were informed about how trees and plants are linked to our basic needs for good food to eat and clean air to breathe. The following points were shared to the students

  1. Trees give us clean water to drink, air to breathe, shade and food to human beings, animals and plants.
  2. Tree provide habitats for numerous species of fauna and flora, firewood for cooking, materials for buildings and places of spiritual, cultural and recreational importance.

Each student was given with one sapling and asked to plant it. The students enjoyed and eagerly participated. Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar, Asst. Prof., and Mr.S.Saravanan, Asst. Prof., accommpanied the students. Totally 30 different varieties of saplings were planted by the students.

Seminar on “Evaluation of Nutraceutical foods in active packaging”

         To commemorate “World Health Day – 7th April”, FAGAS  Association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management& Health and Nutrition Club jointly  organized an seminar  on “Evaluation of Nutraceutical foods in active packaging “on  07.04.2022 between 11 am  and 12 pm at SLCS Seminar hall .Ms.Shivpoornima Freelance Nutritionist was the resource person of this session briefly explained  the spirit of world health day and our students  gathered the information about the importance of nutraceuticals food in relation to health .Twenty six students (13 students from I year & 13 students from II year) of  our department  actively participated  interacted with the expert.

SLCS Samaaj seva – Outreach Programmeon “Feed the kids”

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Departmentconducted an outreach programme “Feed the kids” on 06.04.2022, Wednesday at vision school (schools for differently abled students) at Perungudi, Madurai. The students of I & II Year B.Sc., Animation and PG Diploma in Animation Techniques students came forward to provide the lunch for 30 students studying in the school. Mr. N. Naveendra Kumar and Mr. S. Praveen kumar Asst. Professors of the department accompanied the students.Students were provided with nutritious food.

Seminar on “Thinking Outside the Shell”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management conducted a Seminar entitled “Thinking Outside the Shell’’ on 06-04-2022 between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm. Ms. M. Velammal, Quality Assurance Executive, Rebel Foods, Chennai delivered the lecture about the processing, packaging and preservation techniques in various marine and meat products . The students gathered clear information about the different methods of processing and preservation of Fish, Meat and Poultry. Totally 22 students (11 students from I year &11 students from II year FSPM) from our department participated. At the end of the session, students clarified their doubts with the expert.

Value Added Course on ‘Digital Banking’

The Department of B.Com (Banking and Insurance) conducted Value Added Course on ‘Digital Banking’ to the II Year students. Dr.D.Abraham Pradeep of MBA Department conducted the course from 01.04.2022 to 06.04.2022. The expert covered topic related to concepts, theory and practices in Digital Banking.  The entire session was very interactive and effective. 64 students of II B.Com (B&I) benefitted from this program.

SLCS Samaaj seva – Outreach Program on “World Autism Day”

Students of I & II Year B.Sc., Animation and PG Diploma in Animation Techniques along with the students from vision school (schools for differently abled students) at Perungudi, Madurai Organized a rally on “World Autism Awareness Day”, as an outreach programme on 06.04.2022, Wednesday between 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. The main purpose of this rally is to educate the people about Autism as “Always Unique Totally Interesting Sometimes Mysterious”. Totally 20 students participated in this event and 2 Faculty members accompanied them.

Career Counselling Session on “Insights and Opportunities in Food Industries”

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management & Career Counselling cell jointly organized a Career Counselling session on “Insights and Opportunities in Food Industries” on 06.04.2022 at SLCS seminar hall around 2.30 pm. Twenty two students (11 students from I year &11 students from II year FSPM) of our department participated and got benefited from this session. Ms.M. Velammal, Quality Assurance Executive, Rebel Foods, Chennai addressed in detail about various career opportunities, skills and competencies needed for food processing industry both in public and private. The Government schemes and technological developments related to food processing were also narrated in detail. This session would definitely help our students to get an idea about start – ups through effective knowledge transfer. On the whole, it was interactive and the resource person answered the participant’s queries related to the career

Seminar on “Networking – Dynamic Routing Protocol”

The department of Computer Science (SSS) organized a webinar on “Networking – Dynamic Routing Protocol” for the students of II B.Sc CS (SSS) on 05-04-2022 from 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM at seminar hall. Ms.A.Subashini & Ms.N.Sivashankari of II B.Sc CS (SSS) compered the entire session.

The programme was started with the welcome address delivered by Mr.S.Visagan of  II B.Sc CS(SSS). Mr.Michael, Senior Trainer Professional in Elysium Academy Private Limited, Madurai was the resource person for this session. Special address was delivered by Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department,CS(SSS). Chief guest was introduced  delivered by Mr.S.R.Aathithyan of II B.Sc CS(SSS).Mrs.V.Gayathri, AP,CS(SSS) in her felicitation address explained the purpose of organizing Networking – Dynamic Routing Protocol” seminar.

Mr.Michael, the resource person, explained   the concept of ad-hoc network, dynamic routing protocol and various metric standards for network routing.He explained about the  various routing algorithms such as link state , Djikstra algorithm, Bellman-Ford routing algorithms and Ford-Fulkerson routing algorithms, global routing algorithms,decentralized routing algorithms and its real time implementation.He further demonstrated the routing protocols and its working with the help of cisco packet tracing tool.Totally 86 students from I & II B.Sc CS(SSS)  particiapted in the seminar.

Finally the session was ended with a vote of thanks rendered by Ms.Tharuni of I B.Sc CS(SSS).

   

Hospitality Education Network Association Meeting

On 5.4.22, the Hospitality Education Network (HEN) association of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized a meeting to discuss on conducting various activities in the department for the month of April. 31 students actively participated. The programme began with a prayer song.  Mr.C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the department delivered a keynote address and he has elected a new office bearer such as President, Vice President, Secretary and members of the HEN Association. Mr. Prabhu.T was elected as a President, Blesson.R was elected as a Vice President, and Mr. Jeevanandham S.P was elected as a Secretary of the Association. During this meeting, the association president selected various members and spoke about the association’s forthcoming activity, and discussed the development of the department. Mr. R.Blesson delivered a Vote of thanks at the end of the program.

Training Program on “Professional Ethics and Human Values Enshrined in Bhagavad Gita”

A Training Program On The Topic “Professional Ethics and Human Values Enshrined in Bhagavad Gita” was organized by the IQAC of SLCS on 02.04.2022. Dr. S. Priya, the Dean Academics welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sujatha, the Principal delivered the Presidential Address.

Mr. Vamsidhari Dasa, Youtuber, BVKS Pravaha was the Chief Guest for the training program. The guest shared about the ethics that should be followed by the professionals and values that one should possess towards humans. He insisted the members to read the Bhagavad Gita to develop the Personality in all the aspects.

As a motivation, all the participants were given Bhagavad Gita at the end of the session. Dr. K. Archunan, the Vice Principal proposed the Vote of Thanks. Totally 70 members (52 faculty members and 18 Non – teaching staff members) have attended the program and got benefitted.
