Department of CS (SSS and DSA) organized its department association inaugural ceremony on 01.07.24. Initally, the programme started with Prayer, welcome address performed by Ms. J. S. Divya Dharshini, III B. Sc CS SSS. Presidential address by Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, Feliciation by Dr. S. Priya, Dean Academics and Dr. T. Guru Baskar, Vice-Principal. About the department and introduction of association of names TECHNOFEST and DATA NEXUS to the first year students was performed by Dr. P. K. Manoj Kumar. Introduction to chief guest was given by MS. M. S. Kavya Devi, II B. Sc CS (SSS). The chief guest day was Ms. Sindhu Manivannan (2008-2011), Full Stack Developer Lead Mentor, Entri App, Cochin gave more how to discover our self through some activities. Students get involved in the activities and made the session more meaningful. Vote of thanks was delievered by Ms. V. S. Darsita, III B. Sc CS (SSS)

GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Department of Computer Science and Networking jointly organized seminar on Generative Artificial Intelligence on 19.07.24. Welcome address was given Ms. M. Vishnuvarthini, II B. Sc CS DSA. Introduction to chief guest was given by Ms. A. Harshitha, III B. Sc Networking. Mr. Rajagopal Venkatraman, Fouder and CTO, Star Systems Private limited, Commusoft private limited was the chief guest for the day. Chief guest discussed on generative artificial intelligence (AI), it’s important to cover its capabilities, applications, and implications. it’s a subset of artificial intelligence focused on creating new content rather than just interpreting data or making decisions based on existing data. Types of Generative AI is Text Generation, Image Generation and Music and Audio Generation.  Applications are Creative Industries, content creation and Scientific and Technical Fields with behind the technologies are Machine learning models. Challenges in quality control and advancements. Vote of thanks was given by Ms. S. Preethi, III B. Sc CS (SSS). 286 students got benefitted through this event.

                                              The Department of Computer Science organized a Seminar on “Become an IT Specialist – 2024” on 24.1.24. Mr.Srinivash, Business Development Manager,  Mr.Aswin, Technical Trainer, Ms.Sowmiya, Technical Trainer, GTech IT Solutions,  Madura has been invited as the resource persons. Ms. S. Sasiregha, III B. Sc CS (SSS) welcomed the gathering. Mr. S. Gokula Kannan, III B. Sc CS (SSS) introduced the chief guest. Resource person of the program delivered a speech on the evolution of Artificial Intelligence. He further explained the current scenario of IT industry and how to become IT specialist. 90 students got benefitted through this program. Mr. K. Dharnesh Kumar, III B. Sc CS (SSS) proposed vote of thanks.

  3. Practice, Practice, Practice: Rehearse common interview questions and practice your responses. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers and showcase your accomplishments effectively.

Awareness on Road Safety

(Security System Specialization and Data Science and Analytics)

Department of Computer Science (SSS and DSA), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – Samaaj Seva), organized a program “Awareness on Road Safety” on 13.01.2024 from 09:30 AM to 03:30 PM at Periyar bus stand and MGR bus stand. Students were allowed to spend their one day with traffic police officers at the respective places. Students participated in the activity and gave awareness to the public on pedestrian crossing, wearing helmet, over speed and footpath travelling.

 

Outcome: The people were supportive to the SLCS students and cooperated for the day. If the same is practiced throughout the entire process on road safety will be fulfilled.

Purpose: To gain industry insights, learn about Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

Introduction:

The industrial visit to Elsiyum academy was an enriching experience that provided valuable insights into the industry sector. Our group of 60 students had the opportunity to explore the company’s facilities, learn about their operations, and interact with their team.

Key Takeaways:

Understood about the basic concepts of AI Machine learning, Text Mining and Deep Learning.. Those who are interested can Kick start their career by learning Machine learning.

Seminar on “Data Security and Privileges”

The Department of Computer Science organized a Seminar on “Data Security and Privileges” on 27.1.24 in view of celebrating “Data Privacy Day”. Mr. S. Harisuthan, Senior Security Engineer, Cyber Warfare Labs, Bengaluru has been invited as the resource person. Ms. S. Sasiregha, III B. Sc CS (SSS) welcomed the gathering. Mr. S. Gokula Kannan, III B. Sc CS (SSS) introduced the chief guest. Resource person delivered a speech on the importance of data security in the present cyber world. He further explained the different types of attack and how to defend them with tools and technologies to the students. 92 students got benefitted through this program. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. K. Dharnesh Kumar, III B. Sc CS (SSS).

Career Development Program on “How to crack Competitive Examinations”

The Department of Computer Science organized a Career Development Program on How to crack Competitive Examinations on 12.02.24. Mr.R.Vinoth Kumar, (Alumnus 2007 – 10 B.Sc., CS Batch), Specialist Officer, Union Bank of India has been invited as the resource person. Ms. B.Bhargavi, II B. Sc., CS (SSS) welcomed the gathering. Mr. Maneesram, I B. Sc CS (DSA) introduced the chief guest. The resource person shared the techniques to clear the competitive examination. He advised the students to practice consistently to reach their goal. He also shared the benefits of becoming a bank employee. 90 students got benefitted through the program. Ms. Dharini, II B. Sc., CS (SSS) proposed vote of thanks.

Alumni Interaction

Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) Technofest association organized an alumni interaction programme on 15.07.27 between 11.00 am to 1.00 pm at F – 17C Academic lab. Mr. S. Gokula Kannan, Technical Associate, Qspiders, Chennai was the resource person for the session. He shared the difficulties faced during the internship and the placement. He also added that students should be equipped during the  V semester itself so that it will give confidence during the internship and placement drives. He insisted on to develop the communication skills and also on soft skills development. The session was so interesting for the current final year students and received more valuable points. All the students thanked the resource person for the resourceful sharing.

Career counseling program on “Changing Perceptions of Career choice among Hospitality students”

Program objective:

  • The objective of this seminar is to explore and understand the evolving perceptions of career choices among students pursuing hospitality education.

Session Report:

              The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management conducted a career counseling program on July 11, 2024, focusing on the topic “Changing Perceptions of Career Choice among Hospitality Students.” The program featured Mr. Mohammed Sheriff, General Manager of GRT Hotel, Madurai, as the resource person. He interacted with 89 students, creating awareness and providing insights into the factors influencing career decisions in hospitality. He emphasized the importance of considering diverse career paths beyond traditional roles to enhance students’ career prospects. The seminar facilitated networking opportunities among students, faculty members, and industry professionals, fostering potential collaborations and partnerships within the hospitality sector. The career counseling program successfully addressed the changing perceptions of career choices in hospitality. It provided a platform for students to broaden their understanding and aspirations within the industry.

After completing this counseling program students will be able to
