Faculty Induction Program

The Faculty Induction Program at SLCS was organized under the guidance of the College Secretary, Dr. Ramasubbu L., whose commitment to faculty professional development is reflected in the institution’s vision and policies. Though not directly present, his emphasis on discipline, innovation, and continuous learning shaped the program’s orientation, ensuring that
the sessions aligned with the broader goals of academic excellence and holistic faculty growth. A five-day Faculty Induction Program was conducted from 15 June 2026 to 17 June 2026 to familiarize newly appointed faculty members with the institutions academic practices, administrative procedures, and professional responsibilities. A total of seven faculty members
participated in the program.

The Principal introduced the participants to Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and highlightedthe current trends and expectations in higher education. The Dean delivered an informative session on the Curriculum Development Cell, explaining the processes involved in curriculum planning, revision, and implementation.

The Vice Principal briefed the participants on the college rules and regulations, institutional policies, and the professional responsibilities expected of faculty members. Dr. M. Subramanian conducted a session on research, emphasizing the importance of scholarly publications, research ethics, funded projects, and continuous academic development. A session on the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was handled by R. Suganthi Hepzibha, who explained the role of IQAC in maintaining quality standards, academic documentation, accreditation processes, and institutional best practices. Dr. Pavitra addressed the
Mentor–Mentee Relationship, highlighting the significance of effective mentoring in supporting students academic progress and personal well-being.

28th Graduation Day on 27.06.2026

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and R L Institute of Management Studies, Madurai, organized 28th Graduation Day on 27th June, 2026. Dr. L. Ramasubbu, the Honorable Secretary, commenced the ceremony with an invocation and declared the opening of the 28th Graduation Day. Dr. R Sujatha, Principal, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest.

Shri. R. Seshasayee, Chairman, Asian Paints, Executive Vice-Chairman Hinduja Group | Former Chairman Infosys & IndusInd Bank, Former Executive Vice Chairman Ashok Leyland, Advocate for Humane Leadership, Social Impact & Lifelong Learning, Author, as the Chief Guest, delivered the Graduation Day Address.

In his speech, he emphasized that the graduates should take pride in earning their degrees from Madurai, a city of great historical significance and a renowned center of learning. He encouraged the students to view the future as a dazzling light whose opportunities may not always be immediately visible. He also highlighted that we are living in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world, where everyone must continuously adapt to and grow alongside emerging technologies. Furthermore, he urged the graduates to be fearless, remain curious, and embrace lifelong learning to achieve success.

Totally, 433 candidates have been awarded with the degree. Chief Guest Shri. R. Seshasayee,, Dr. L. Ramasubbu, the Honorable Secretary, Dr. R Sujatha, Principal, Shri. R. Ramkumar, Management Executive, Er. A. Lakshmipathy, Management Member, Er. R. Lakshmipathy, Management Member and Dr. T.Guru Baskar, Vice Principal cum Controller of Examination i/c have issued the Degree Certificates to the Graduates. Dr. S Priya, Dean, Mrs. Maheswari, Additional Controller of Examinations, HoDs, faculty members and Management Family Members have participated in the Graduation Day ceremony.

Student Induction Program (SIP) – Orientation Program

An Orientation Program for the first-year students was organized at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the college auditorium. The program was conducted with the
blessings of the College Chairman, Dr. R. Lakshmipathy, and under the guidance of the College Secretary, Dr. L. Ramasubbu.
Dr. S. Priya, Dean of the College, delivered the welcome address. The Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, highlighted the institutions growth journey, achievements, and distinctive features. Dr. T. Gurubaskar, Vice Principal, introduced the chief
guest.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Varalotti Rengasamy, Auditor and Writer, delivered an inspiring address to the students. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of continuous intellectual growth and stated that qualities such as honesty,
discipline, ethics, attitude, and approach play a crucial role in determining ones success. He further explained that obtaining a degree without developing skills is a barrier to achieving ones dreams. Drawing from his own life experiences,
he encouraged students to pursue their goals with determination and confidence, emphasizing that a strong mindset and perseverance would inevitably lead to success.
Mrs. V. Padmavathy, Head Department of Commerce, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was attended by all Heads of the Departments, faculty members, administrative staff, and more than 420 students along with their parents.

Department of B.Com. (Honours) Memorandum of Understanding Signed at SLCS College

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the B.Com (Honours) Department of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathi College of Science and S.N. Auditor Associates, Chennai, to provide coaching for CA Foundation and Intermediate courses.

The event was attended by College Secretary Dr. Ramasubbu, S.N. Auditors Associates Executive CA Nagaraju, Vice Principal Gurubaskar, Dean Priya, College and Head of the Department Selvaraj.

Under this agreement, students will receive structured training for the CA Foundation and Intermediate examinations. Regular model tests will also be conducted alongside full-time classes to help students successfully clear the Chartered Accountant examinations.

CERTIFICATE COURSE ON “ADOBE INDESIGN”

The School of Animation and Media Studies (SAMS) at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science has successfully conducted a Value-Added Course on Adobe InDesign from October 23 to October 28, 2025. This certificate program, held daily from 8:50 AM to 1:30 PM in the Animation Academic Lab 1, was specifically designed to enhance the technical competencies of students in the field of digital publishing and layout design. Under the expert guidance of Mr. B. Venkatesh, Assistant Professor at SAMS, 23 dedicated students engaged in a rigorous curriculum that balanced theoretical principles with practical, industry-standard applications.

The course commenced with a deep dive into the fundamental role of design principles, where students explored the complex structure of professional brochures, including various fold types and specific print requirements. Participants moved beyond basic software usage to master layout planning through the strategic implementation of grids and guides, ensuring a disciplined approach to whitespace and alignment. Significant emphasis was placed on typography hierarchy and visual balance, teaching students how to direct the viewer’s eye and communicate information effectively through structured page design.

Throughout the week, the Animation Academic Lab 1 served as a hub of creativity and technical problem-solving. The 23 student participants transitioned from conceptual sketches to finished digital assets, gaining a thorough understanding of page sizes and the nuances of preparing files for professional printing. The hands-on nature of the workshop allowed for real-time feedback and troubleshooting, ensuring that every participant could confidently navigate the Adobe InDesign interfaces to create high-quality media products.

The successful completion of this course marks a significant milestone for the participating students, who now possess a specialized skill set that is highly sought after in the media and animation industries. By bridging the gap between creative vision and technical execution, the program achieved its goal of preparing students for the demands of modern graphic communication. This initiative reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to providing value-added education that empowers students with professional tools, ensuring they remain competitive and proficient in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

 

SLCS – SAMAAJ SEVA – EXTENSION ACTIVITY Mobile Phone Usage awarness– 16.02.2026

P. Roy Choudhury Association organized an Extension activity programme for rural area people at Solankuruni on Febrauary 16, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm on Mobile phone usage awareness. It was organized by School of Animation and Media Studies, the event aimed to promote the importance of Mobile Awareness and to create awareness about the responsible use of mobile phones among village communities. Mobile phones have become an essential part of daily life, even in rural areas. While they offer many benefits such as communication, education, and access to information, improper use can lead to problems like addiction, misinformation, and health issues. This extension activity was conducted to create awareness among rural people about the safe and effective use of mobile phones, to encourage the use of mobiles for educational and productive purposes. Totally 10 students from SAMS and 1 faculty members were participated in the event.

SLCS – SAMAAJ SEVA – EXTENSION ACTIVITY-Awareness Programme on Child Education & Mobile Usage – 04.10.2025

D.P. Roy Choudhury Association of School of Animation and Media Studies has organized an Extension activity programme for the rural area people at Solankuruni on October 10, 2025 between 12:00 to 1.30 PM. The event aimed to promote the importance of child education and to create awareness about the responsible use of mobile phones among village communities. Conducted interactive sessions explaining the importance of schooling, Explained government schemes supporting free and compulsory education, Motivated children through storytelling and real-life success. Explained both positive and negative impacts of mobile phone usage. Highlighted issues such as addiction, health problems, and distraction from studies. Demonstrated educational uses of mobile phones (learning apps, online classes). Advised parents on monitoring children’s screen time. Totally 6 students from II & I year Animation and 1 faculty members were participated in the event.

Digital Art Competition

The Digital Art Competition organized by the Art and Media Club was a vibrant and innovative event that highlighted the creative potential of students in the field of digital design. Held at the Animation Academic Lab II on 13th December 2025, the competition aimed to promote artistic expression through modern technology while enhancing students’ digital skills and imagination. Participants, including 21 students, created visually compelling artworks using various digital tools and software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other creative platforms. The artworks reflected diverse themes and unique perspectives, showcasing the students’ ability to blend creativity with technical proficiency. The event encouraged originality and creative thinking, providing a platform for budding digital artists to present their work and gain recognition. Mr. S. Naveen Kumar, Assistant Professor, SAMS the resource person, oversaw the event, with entries being judged based on creativity, composition, and the effective use of digital techniques. The competition fostered a spirit of healthy rivalry and inspired students to explore the evolving world of digital art. Overall, the event was a great success, emphasizing the importance of integrating art with technology and paving the way for future artists to thrive in today’s digital creative landscape.

Drawing Workshop

The Drawing Workshop organized by the Art and Media Club was a highly engaging and enriching experience for students, held at the Drawing Room on 10th January 2026. The session aimed to enhance basic drawing skills while encouraging creativity and self-expression among 21 participants. Guided by Mr. R. Arul Yograj, Assistant Professor, SAMS the experienced resource person, students were introduced to essential techniques such as shading, sketching, and composition. The workshop provided a supportive environment where both beginners and skilled artists could explore their artistic potential. Participants actively engaged in hands-on activities, creating impressive artworks and gaining confidence in their abilities. The session emphasized the importance of observation and imagination in the drawing process, encouraging students to tap into their creativity and express themselves freely. It also served as an excellent platform for learning, interaction, and idea-sharing among fellow art enthusiasts. Overall, the workshop successfully fulfilled its objective of nurturing artistic talent, inspiring students to pursue their passion for art, and fostering a deeper connection with the world of drawing and creativity.

 

 

Art and Media Club Inauguration

The Art and Media Club aims to foster creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression by blending traditional art forms with modern media tools. Held at the Drawing Lab on 26.07.2025, the inaugural event saw active participation from 21 students, who engaged in a variety of creative activities. Through art forms like origami, portraiture, and painting, students explored the intersection of Art and Media, enhancing their skills in both visual expression and digital communication. Mr. S. Naveen Kumar, Assistant Professor, SAMS the resource person, guided the participants, emphasizing how traditional art can be reimagined through digital mediums such as photo editing, digital painting, and video storytelling. This approach allows students to connect with a broader audience and innovate in the realm of visual media. By incorporating media literacy into the exploration of artistic expression, the club creates opportunities for students to engage in diverse forms of creative communication, promoting artistic innovation and technological fluency. Ultimately, the club seeks to empower young minds by cultivating an environment where traditional and modern creative practices converge, fostering both artistic excellence and media-savvy skills for the future.
