CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

Art & Media Club &D. P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, celebratedthe“International Human Rights Day 2022” on 06.12.2022 at our Animation Academic Lab.

As a part of the Celebration, a Drawing Competition was conducted in the Topic: All Humans…All Equal. The main aim of this competition to exhibit the student’s talents and also to create aware of the Human rights and responsibilities. The students created magnificent sketches on paper with colors. It was related to the present scenario, where students could engage in skillful learning through the medium of Art.

Students participated with great enthusiasm and zest. Indeed the competition provided a platform for theircreative expression.

TotallyXX students from all the departments were participatedin this event.

Outreach Program (SLCS Samaaj Seva) on “Importance of Health and Fitness for Adults”

Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Outreach Program SLCS Samaaj Seva on Importance of Health and Fitness for Adults “on 3.12.2022 at 3.00 in Paramakudi. Students explained the importance of Physical activity which improves one’s ability to live healthier and longer (especially during adult period). Regular physical activity can positively impact multiple dimensions of one’s life which can decrease the risk of developing chronic disease and improve health benefits of those living with a chronic disease.  Totally, 13 students participated and 10 members got benefited through this activity.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT VENUS HOME APPLIANCES PVT. LTD. FACTORY, TUTICORIN

Department of Commerce (Hons) ACCA visited Venus Home Appliances Pvt. Ltd., Senthilampannai, Thoothukudi – 628103 on 03.12.2022 (Saturday). It is the leading manufacturer of water heaters in India. Venus provides a wide range of water heaters in India that include electric instant water heaters, electric storage water heaters, gas water heaters, solar water heaters and heat pump water heaters. It also strives to design, manufacture and supply water heaters and accessories to national and international standards. Then, all students were taken to the factory to see all the operations of Water Heater Manufacturing, Raw material section, Quality checking unit, packaging section and accounts department. Totally, 38 students from I, II and III ACCA along with 3 faculty members visited the factory.

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM ON-CAMPUS DRIVE

Department of Computer Science (SSS), Department of Networking, & Career Counseling Cell in association with Placement Cell jointly organized an “On Campus Drive” for Networking & Computer Science final year students on 03.12.2022. Our Principal, Dr. R. Sujatha, led the “On Campus Drive”. Our Vice Principal, Dr. K. Arjunan and Dr. S. Priya, Dean Academics, delivered the keynote address. Mr. Nanuswamy, President Maxeleator Foundation, Madurai and the team conducted the recruitment process with different rounds. Totally, 53 students participated in this drive.  Totally, 20 students got selected for the final HR round with 15 shortlisted students.

Retail Bazaar Sodh Yatra

Retail Bazzar Shodh Yatra was organised by Lakshya Association of MBA department on 02/12/2022 and 03/12/2022 at 9 a.m at Masi Street, Madurai.

Retail BazzarShodhYatra outcomes:

  • Identification and documentation of grassroots innovation and traditional knowledge.
  • Exchange of ideas and knowledge among the participants from different regions and backgrounds.
  • Raising awareness on the importance of imbibing local knowledge and innovation
  • Creating opportunities for innovation to showcase their ideas and products to customers.
  • Totally 75, students and 6 faculty members participated in the Retail BazzarShodhYatra, Dr Sivajothi and Dr K S KarthikBabu were the coordinators.

Internship Guidance Meeting

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Internship Guidance Meeting on 03.12.2022 to orient the students for their internship program. Totally, 32 students from III MC&HM actively participated. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the presidential address. Mr. C. Suresh Kumar, Head of the Department, guided the students and their parents regarding the importance of Log book for students, Hotel information and accommodation availability for students. He also spoke of the training reporting date, dress code during the training programme, importance of the Training Certificate, and prior necessities to join their respective Hotels.  Through this program, the students and parents will be able to understand their roles and responsibilities during the internship program. This guidance meeting helped the students to understand the importance of internship and made it as a memorable experience.

A Workshop on “Innovative Digital Marketing with reference to YOUTUBE”

ZEAL Association of Department of BBA in association with SLCS’s Institute Innovation Council (IIC) organized a One-day Workshop on “Innovative Digital Marketing with Reference to YOUTUBE” for the students, Faculty and Research scholars of various Institutions in the auditorium on 02.12.2022.    Mr. J. Keerthi Vasan, Assistant Director and VFX Artist, TALENTWOOD, Madurai, was the resource person for the workshop. Mr. J. Keerthi Vasan explained on creating a Business Plan, creating a YouTube channel and how to keep our channel relevant. He finally explained the YouTube business model and the scope of starting a channel on YouTube.  By this one-day workshop the faculty and students had a great idea on Digital Marketing. Totally, 57 students of I BBA, 31 Students of II BBA, 18 Students from various departments of SLCS, 46 participants from various engineering colleges eagerly participated in the program.

Seminar on World Pollution Control day

            Herbert William Henrich Association, Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, along with Environmental Health and Safety club, celebrated the World Pollution Control Day through an awareness program on 02.12.2022. Dr. N. Somasundaram, Principal, Rukmini Shanmugam Polytechnic College, Madurai, gave the guest lecture on World Pollution Control. He explained the theme of World Pollution Control Day for this year and the important methods of controlling the pollution. He highlighted pollution prevention should be a motive of an individual’s life and it should be encouraged in the society to segregate the waste from houses and other places and reduce the usage of plastic products to protect the Environment from the disposal of waste and other activities.  He emphasized that Resources should be used with care and economy.  Totally, 98 students and 5 faculty members got benefitted through the seminar.

Alumni Interaction on Developing Career Skills

In association with Alumni Cell, Department of Computer Science (SSS) conducted a session – “Alumni Interaction on Career Skills” for II B.Sc. CS (SSS) on 02.12.2022.  Mr. N. Aashiq Ahamed, Associate Security Engineer, Crossbow Labs, Bangalore, was the Alumni of 2017 – 2020 batch. He interacted with the students on his experience in the Industry. He shared the knowledge that is required to develop their skills in cyber security domain. He explained how to do bug bounty in IT field for gaining knowledge. He advised the students to learn domain related courses with their tools and techniques. He described the importance of Value Added Courses (VAC), Workshop and Guest Lectures offered by our college. Totally, 34 students got benefited.
