The Board of Studies meeting for the academic year 2020 – 2021 Even Semester was held on 30-12-2020 at 2.00 pm, in F33 MBA Hall. In this meeting, modifications were made in the existing syllabi for 2018-2021 batch and 2019 – 2022 batch students. A new course, “Cultural Heritage” has been introduced for the 2020-2023 batch students. Similarly, minor changes were made in the other Syllabi. These changes will be followed from the forthcoming Academic Year. In Indirect Tax subject the 3rd and 5th units are changed as theory for 2018-2021 batch students and these changes will be followed in the current semester.
Internship Guidance Meeting
The objective of the final internship is for the students to develop the necessary skills to function as an entry level manager in the Hospitality Industry. In continuation of the same, the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Internship progamme for the III year students. The training programme was conducted from January 5, 2021 to May 15, 2021. The department organized an Internship Guidance Meeting on 12.12.2020, 14.12.2020 & 19.12.20(3 days) to orient the students about the internship programme . Mr.C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the Department, guided the students and their parents regarding the below mentioned points

Through this programme the students and parents will be able to understand their roles and responsibilities during the internship programme. Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal i/c, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science delivered the presidential address and Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics delivered the felicitation address. Students and parents eagerly and actively participated in the programme.
Course Committee Meeting Minutes
The Department of Computer Science conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 17-12-2020 at 11.00 AM to get the feedback of the students regarding academics, before the conduction of the II and III year Semester Exams. In this meeting, wherein 15 students and 5 faculty members participated, the syllabus coverage of each course was discussed through Google meet and Google class room. The II and III year students informed that they were satisfied with the completion of the syllabus. Students gave valuable feedback and were assured that their inconveniences will be taken care of and academic standards maintained through Management decisions.
women Empowerment cell: Awareness Program on “Inhale The Future and Exhale The Past Through Yoga”
The women Empowerment cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy college of science Madurai, conducted an awareness program on the topic “Inhale the Future Exhale the past through Yoga” for the faculty members on 15.12.2020. The faculty members were motivated to undergo the session by performing Yoga on the spot. The event was started with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr.S.Gurupriya, Assistant professor of Commerce.
The Presidential Address was given by the Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal Dr.S.Priya, Dean Academics felicitated. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head Department of Computer Science,introduced the Chief guest. MR.Ramalingam, Founder of ‘Sivanandha Yoga Center ’ kariapatti,Virudhunagar District was the chief guest.During the event ,the Chief Guest shared his valuable thoughts regarding the benefits and the importance of acquiring the yoga technique. The faculty members were also taught many yogic postures and techniques that would help in regulating the body in a healthy condition and keep the minds calm .The program ended with a vote of thanks proposed Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha , Assistant Professor of English. Totally 25 teaching and non-teaching members attended the program.
FDP on E-Content & MOOC Development
The Department of Computer Science, Department of Networking and ICT Committee of SLCS together organized a one-day FDP on E-Content & MOOC Development for all staff members in F40 hall at SLCS on 15th December, 2020. Mr N. Ramkeerthi, Producer, EMRC, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai was invited as the chief guest for the event.
Mr. M/ Athigopal, HoD, Department of Networking gave a warm welcome to the chief guest and everyone present there.

Mr. M. Ramkeerthi, the chief guest, spoke about his attachment with the former Principal of SLCS, Dr. R. Ramamoorthi and started his session by explaining the teaching aids that a teacher employs to pass on knowledge to a larger group. He, then, explained various aspects of e-content, e-learning, different learning styles, incorporation of instructional designs, forms of e-content elements, components of e-content and voice cadence for educational communication. His speech was so enlightening and beneficial that everyone could create e- content and use them in an effective manner.
Finally, Dr. P. Joe Arun Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of Networking, proposed the vote of thanks.

Placement drive
City Union Bank conducted a Campus Recruitment drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 12.12.2019. Six panel members from City Union Bank, Head Office, Kumbakkonam tested the potential of the students. Around 30 students participated in the recruitment. The selection process consisted of Descriptive test, On-line aptitude test and Personal interview. The recruiters were happy and satisfied with the performance of the students. Three students, Mr.V.S.Vijay Pravin, Mr.S.M.Prasenjith & Mr R..Bathrinath were selected as associates.
ODC at The Gateway Hotel Pasumalai Madurai
Ten II year students from the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management were given an opportunity at The Gateway Hotel Pasumalai, Madurai to be part of outdoor catering (ODC) on 11.12.2020 to 12.12.2020. They were able to gather knowledge about outlet operation procedures, Mise en Place work and many modern techniques. This opportunity motivated and gave hands- on practice to the students
BHARATHI VIZHA VERSE WRITING COMPETITION
The Department of Tamil celebrated 139th birth anniversary of Maha kavi Bharathiyar on 11.12.2020. The verse writing Competition was conducted through Google Meet. The Students were asked to write the verses on their own topics and were informed to Post it through the google meet link. The competition really benefitted the students to enhance their verse writing skills. The assessment was done by the members of the Tamil Department. Totally 7 Students participated in Verse writing competition. First prize was won by S.Kousik, III B.Com M.Sasira Insana, III B.Com got II prize and A.Padmini, I BBA got III prize.
BHARATHI VIZHA ELOCUTION COMPETITION
The Department of Tamil celebrated 139th birth anniversary of Maha kavi Bharathiyar on 11.12.2020. Elocution Competitions was conducted through Google Meet. The students were asked to record a video and were informed to post it in the link. The students were able expose their speaking talents through the competition. The assessment was done by the members of the Tamil Department. Totally 5 students participated in the Elocution competition.The first prize was won by S.Koushik,III B.Com(Honours),C.Abinaya,I B&I got the II prize.
