International Literacy Day 2021: September 8 was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO in 1966 to remind the international community of the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies, and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies. The Department of Languages in association with IQAC and Shyamalavani Community Radio had done an extension activity by broadcasting an awareness program for International Literacy Day 2021. Totally 4 students Ms.Devadharshini and Ms.Saraswathy of III B.Sc Computer Science and Ms.I.Swetha and Ms.C.Hemalatha of III B.Sc Animation explored how literacy can contribute in building a solid foundation for a human-centered recovery, with a special focus on the interplay of literacy and digital skills required by non-literate youth and adults. The students also remind the international community about the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies, and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies.
The program was broadcast to the nearby community to motivate the Technology-enabled literacy learning. By doing so, ILD2021 will be an opportunity to re-imagine future literacy teaching and learning, within and beyond the context of the pandemic.
