Netkings, an Association of Networking Department organized a two day “Workshop on Server Configuration using AWS” on 27th and 28th December, 2021 for I and II Year Networking students. The session started with the prayer. Welcome address was given by Ms.R.K.Harilakshmi – II Networking. Inaugural address was delivered by our Principal, Dr.R.Sujatha and felicitation address was given by our Vice Principal, Dr.K.Archunan. Dr.S.Priya, Dean Academics delivered special address. Mr.M.Athigopal, Head of the Department, introduced the chief guest. The Resource person of the workshop was Mr.Nantha Kumar Rajasekaran, Founder & CEO of NervyGrid, Madurai. He explained on Cloud Computing and its opportunities in the Cloud Platform. His brief explanation made everyone aware about Cloud industries and AWS-EC2 Computing configuration, SSH using PuTTy Tool with hands on approach. He also focused on today’s industrial needs in the IT sector. He shared his experience as an Entrepreneur. At last he cleared all the queries raised by students. At the end of the session he gave advice on the prospects of the career to every student. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.E.Ponsakthi,II B.Sc Networking . Finally the program came to an end with the National Anthem. Totally 27 students were benefited through this workshop.
CULFEST 2021
Royal Chartered Association of B.Com (Honours) ACCA organised CULFEST 2021 on 28th December at Audio Video hall, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. The program started with a prayer. After the prayer we had many events such as Paper presentation, Storytelling, Elocution, Debate, Quiz and Musical Chair. We also had a few cultural events like Dancing, Singing, Antakshari and Dumb Charades. Paper presentation was held on various topics like Crypto Currency, Addiction, Depression, Social Media etc. The storytelling competition was held on various topics like Honesty, Patience, Equality and Hard Work. In the elocution competition topics of problems related to Empowerment of Indian Economy, Brain Drain and Migration of Skilled Labours, etc. were discussed, which helped our students to understand the significance of education and responsibities of its citizens. Students exhibited their talents in the above mentioned events. At the end, Prizes and certificates were given to the winners by Dr. D.Selvaraj, Head Incharge of the Department and Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. A.Raja, Assistant Professor. A total of 45 students participated in this association program.
SEMINAR ON “ELECTRICAL SAFETY IN PROCESS INDUSTRIES”
The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety organized a Seminar on 27th December 2021 on the topic “Electrical Safety in Process Industries” for the students of B.Sc Fire and Industrial safety & PG Diploma Fire and Industrial Safety (29 students). Our Department faculty , Mr.B.Satheeshprabu welcomed the resource Person and gave an introduction about him. The resource person was Mr.G.P Parani kumar, Deputy Manager – Maintenance, from Sundaram Fasteners Limited,Madurai. He explained the importance of Electrical Safety and gave the information about Hazards due to Electrical faults. He also discussed the hazards happened in his experience and how he rectified it. The students actively interacted with the resource person and gained the knowledge on Electrical Hazards and Safety Measures to avoid it. Finally the session ended by giving Vote of thanks.
Value added course on “Basic safety audit and ISO 45001”
The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety has organized a value added course on “Basic safety audit and ISO45001” for the students of IInd and IIIrd year Fire & Industrial Safety (29 Nos) from 22.12.2021 to 25.12.2021. Mr. Mr.K.Vengateshan, HSE, from Global Safety Solution was the trainer for the program. He explained clearly about the need for the safety audit and the auditing techniques. He also gave useful tips for the Final year students for their career and Higher education. The students of F&IS felt very happy for undergoing the Value Added Course which will really support their career enrichment.
Christmas Eve & New Year Celebration-2021
The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management celebrated “Christmas Eve & New Year Celebration -2021” at the Training Restaurant, on 24.12.2021. The restaurant was decorated with Christmas theme and the event was celebrated with Christmas carols, pomp and grandeur by the students (64 students) of our Department. The Principal and all faculty members (53 staff) participated in this event.
EARN WHILE YOU LEARN
Department of Marine catering and Hotel Management organized “Christmas and New Year celebration-2021” on 24.12.21 in our Training Reasturant. In this day our II year MC&HM students (24 students) have prepared Christmas fruit cake, cherry cake and fruit cookies and displayed them for sales. It has been sold through an Entrepreneur Development Cell and revenue was generated by the students. The objective of this programme was to create awareness among the students to become an entrepreneur as an alternative career option.
Seminaron “Basic Awareness on Consumer Act”
Consumer Awareness Club along with ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a Seminar on the topic “Basic Awareness on Consumer Act” on 24.12.2021. This day is celebrated as “NATIONAL CONSUMER DAY” in our country.Dr. C. Packialakshmi, Founder and Director, Women Consumer Protection Associationwas the Guest Speaker.The Guest speaker highlighted the basic understanding of Eight Rights of a Consumer. She also explained the process and the criteria essential for applying for Consumer Redressal.She finally clarified the queries raised by many participants in understanding Consumer Rights. Totally 97 students comprising of I BBA (27), II BBA (31) and Students of Fire and Industrial Safety (19) along with members of Consumer Awareness Club (20) were benefited by this programme.
Guest Lecture on The Business Models
As a part of Academic Social Responsibility, a guest lecture session was designed and delivered by Dr M Subramanian, HoD – MBA Program to the Commerce Students of GTN College, Dindugul on 24th December 2021. The program was organized by Institution Innovation Council, GTN College, Dindigul.Mr Vishnu Sankar, PRO, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College participated in this event. The topic of the guest lecture was “The Business Models”. 103 Commerce Students of GTN College benefited out of this program.
HERITAGE WALK by II MBA Students (MBA 2020-22 Batch)
A “Heritage Walk” to KeezhaVazhavu, at Melur-Thirupathur Road was organized on 24th December 2021, Thursday in association with M/s Dhan Foundation. The program was organized by “Lakshya”, the MBA Department Student Association. The heritage walk took place under the guidance of Mr Bharathi, Senior Executive, Dhan Foundation. 40 II MBA students benefited out of this program. The heritage walk provided an idea to our students on olden Madurai trade links, Jain sculptures and practices.
TECHIE QUEST CLUB-REPORT ON FARMER’S DAY
The Readers’ Hub & Techie quest club jointly organized the programme to commemorate the “International Farmers’ Day” on 24th, December, 2021 in the Classroom S52. The student’s coordinator S.Madhubala (20302-Animation) welcomed the gathering and the Coordinators of the Clubs Mrs.R.Sailakshmi& Mrs.Gayathri, conducted the event.
Mr.VV.Sundharam(Dept.ofEnglish)& Mr.Sivasubramaniyan(Dept.of Maths) gave special address during the event. They stressed the importance of Agriculture & Farmers and their struggles. Also they explained about the technology innovation such as IoT usage, Corp prediction, Pesticide Prediction etc.,
Totally 104 (Reader’s Hub = 12 students, Techie Quest Club= 12 students, Yoga Club= 11, Electroral literacy club=42, Students’ Corner=27) students eagerly participated and benefitted from it. Students enjoyed and it would be very useful for them in their future endeavors
The sole aim of the activities conducted is to impart skills to the target group that would help to build their confidence and thus inculcate a sense of social responsibility amongst the students.
