8th INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA

The Department of Physical Education and Yoga Club jointly organized the 8th International Day of Yoga on 21-06-2022 (Tuesday). The event was started with prayer song followed by welcome address delivered by Ms. K.D. Hindu Sankari of I B.Com ACCA.  Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the Presidential address and encouraged students to participate in physical activities. Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal, delivered the Felicitation Address, and directed students to follow hygienic healthy style. Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics, in her special address motivated the students. The chief guest of the event was Mr. N.V.Ramalingam, Founder, Sivanandha Yogalayam, Kariapatti; Virudhunagar explained the origin of yoga. He also nurtured the students by explaining the eight limbs of yoga. The guest also elaborated the health benefits of practicing yoga followed by yoga demonstration session.    There was a meditation session which helped the students to improve their concentration. This helped the students to maintain peace and harmony. Students clarified their doubts related to various yogasanas for each organ and its special health benefits. Certificates were distributed to the participants. Totally 125 (120 students and 05 faculty members) participants were benefitted by this event. Ms. J. Ashvika, I B.Com., ACCA, proposed vote of thanks. The entire programme was coordinated by Mr.D.Pandiarajan, Director of Physical Education.

26th and 27th SPORTS DAY

Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science celebrated its 26th and 27th sports day on 11-04-2022. To make our students more energetic and strong, the Department of Physical Education conducted a chain of sports events for boys and girls. An enthusiastic celebration for one whole month which includes various indoor and outdoor games selection rounds, semi-final rounds and final rounds were conducted. Students were selected for various houses like Challengers, rockers, Thrillers and Sparklers by the team captains and sports faculty coordinators. On the sports day, flags were hoisted in the college campus. The event started with a prayer song followed by a welcome address by Ms. S. Madhubala, II B.Sc Animation. Annual report for the academic year 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 was presented by Mr. D. Pandiarajan, Director of Physical Education. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the Presidential Address and motivated the budding generation to excel in sports activities. Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal, delivered the Felicitation Address, and nurtured the students with a few health tips. Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics, gave the special address with her eloquent words. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, Assistant Professor cum Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) introduced the chief guest of the event The chief guest of the function Mr. M. Baskaran, Superintendent of Police, Civil Supplies, C.I.D, Madurai Zone, Madurai, gave a thought provoking speech which highly motivated the young minds and kindled the true sportsmanship among students, which was followed by an interactive session. The students were clarified their doubts on competitive exams, cyber forensics cases, and healthy eating habits. Students show cased their talents by performing Human Pyramid, Karate, Silambam, Instrumental music, Singing, Colour Saree Drill. The prizes for various events were distributed by the dignitaries. Totally 516 students have participated in event. Ms. K. Shahithya, II B.Sc., CS(SSS), Chairman of Students’ Forum proposed the vote of thanks.

Yoga Club – Demonstration of Prone and Supine Asanas postures in Yoga

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science has conducted an activity in the Yoga Club on 30.03.2021 for the Yoga club students. Mr.P.Thangamuthu, Coordinator Yoga club, has recalled the previous activities.The club students performed Vajrasana, Sukhasana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Halasana, Matsyasana, and Savasana. Students also learnt about the prone and supine Asanas posture. Totally 60 students participated in the activity of Yoga club.

Yoga Club – Importance of Yoga Exercises

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science has conducted an activity in the Yoga Club on 09.03.2021 for the Yoga club students. Mr.P.Thangamuthu, Coordinator Yoga club, has told about the importance of Yoga exercises and shared his views. Our club students are performing Padmasana, Suryanamaskar, Tadasana, Vrksasana, Hastha Utthanasana, and pachimothanasana. Students are learning about the Sitting and standing Asanas. Totally 60 students participated in the activity of Yoga club.
