The Culinary Club conducted a Carving Competition on 09.03.2022. The competition was held between 11.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. It was open to all the students of various departments. Students have enrolled their names in an enthusiastic way to the convener for the Carving Competition. The participants were asked to carve any objects by using soap and chalk piece. 08 students have participated in this competition and the judgment was given by Mrs.P.Deepalakshmi, and Ms.D.Swetha, of FS&PM department.

Technofest, an association of Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized a workshop on Robotics for I & II B.Sc. CS (SSS) students. The workshop was held from 07/03/2022 to 09/03/2022 at 09.30AM and went on upto 04.15PM in Academic Lab II. The workshop was started with the welcome address by R.Divya, I B.Sc. CS (SSS). The presidential address & the Chief Guest introduction were given by Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, Department of CS (SSS). Finally the vote of thanks was delivered by A.Deepak, I B.Sc. CS (SSS).

            The Chief Guest Mr.Sriram Nagarajan, Co Founder & CEO, RoboRAM Technologies, Nagercoil, elaborated on the basics of robotics and importance of robotics in all technical fields. Students also had a hands-on training using the frame work “Tinkercad”. The association members of TechnoFest, Department of CS(SSS) compered the entire session. Totally, 52 students attended the session and got benefitted.

The members of Techie Quest Club organized an Intra College competition  “Instrument Playing” on 08.03.2021 at 11.00 AM in F40 Hall. I year and II year students from various departments participated in this event. The club co-ordinator Mrs.V.Gayathri, Assistant Professor of CS welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

                   Totally 06 students participated in this event. It is a single participant game.  The game was organized in 2 categories such as Rhythm & Percussion.

The Department of Computer Science (SSS), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – Samaaj Seva), organized a program “Hands-on Training on MS-Office Tools – I” on 07.03.2022 from 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM at our Internet Lab for the 8^th standard students from T.P.K.P.U Middle School, Nedumadurai. Six students from II B.Sc CS (SSS) gave training in MS-Paint to the school students. They explained all the tools and menus in MS-Paint. Finally they made the school students to draw car, house and scenery in MS-Paint. Overall 24 students from T.P.K.P.U Middle School, Nedumadurai got benefitted by involving themselves in this activity.

The department of Computer Science (SSS) organized a webinar on “Penetration Testing Tools & Techniques” for the students of II B.Sc CS (SSS) on 03-03-2022 from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm at seminar hall. Ms.Subashini & Ms.Sivashankari of II B.Sc CS (SSS) compered the entire session.

The programme started with the welcome address delivered by Mr.Bala Murugan of II B.Sc CS(SSS). Mr.Aashiq Ahamad, Security Associate,Crossbow Labs,Bangalore was introduced by Ms.Anuradha . The special address was delivered by Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department,CS(SSS). Mrs.V.Gayathri, AP,CS(SSS) gave a felicitation address and explained the purpose of organizing Penetration Testing Tools & Techniques of webinar.

Mr. Aashiq Ahamad, the resource person, joined the session through  google meet and explained  the role of penetration tester (Ethical Hacker) in the current IT industry. He further demonstrated the usgae of various pentest tools such as acunetix, Burp Suite, Indusface, Metasploit,etc., Totally 51 students of II B.Sc CS(SSS)  particiapted in the webinar.

Finally the session ended with a vote of thanks rendered by Mr.Pranava Kumar of III B.Sc CS(SSS).

The Department of Computer Science (SSS), as a part of its Extension Activity (SLCS – Samaaj Seva), organized a program “Cyber Safety for Students” on 25.02.2022 at Amudham Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Madurai. Five students from II B.Sc CS (SSS) participated and created awareness on the following topics such as mobile security, social media security, e-commerce security, online game security. They have interacted with the school students and have shown a demo on phishing attack. Finally they explained the “SafeDot” mobile application for the smart phone safety. Mrs.V.Gayathri, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CS (SSS) accompanied the students. Overall 137 students from the school got benefitted by involving themselves in this activity.

 A confidence building program called vidhya vikas for slow learners was conducted on 24 February 2022 in the seminar hall from 1:35 to 3:15pm. The resource person was Dr.M.Karuppasamy, Special Educator, KRS School. He addressed the students mentioning real life examples of great achievers and said that confidence has to be built from within. He also spoke about the ways and means to concentrate on a given task. He said that only practice; we attain confidence and master the task. He insisted adapting to changes and said that it will solve problems. In total   60 students from various programmes benefitted from the Program.

On 22^nd February, 2022, the Technofest Association, Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized a Seminar on “Security Approaches in Database Management System” for II year students (Batch: 2020 – 23) through video conferencing via google meet. Dr. E. Ramanujam, Assistant Professor of Computer Science & Engineering, Christ University was the resource person. Ms. A. Yuvashree of II CS welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal presided over the session through the presidential address. The Vice Principal, Dr. K. Archunan and Dr. S. Priya, Dean – Academics delivered the felicitation address. The special address was given by Mrs. N. Anuradha, Head of the Department. Mr. S. R. Aathithyan of II CS, introduced the resource person.The resource person, Dr. E. Ramanujam started the session with the brief explanation of the core concepts of Relational Database Management System. He insisted on the importance of Security and its implementation through his presentation. He also explained ten ways to implement security for database. The students were briefed with the career opportunities as Database Administrators and the future scope.This seminar is organized in relevance to the courses Relational Database Management System and Database Security by Mrs. K. P. Maheswari and Mrs. G. Lavanya, Assistant Professors of Computer Science department, Totally 51 students participated in the seminar and got benefitted.  Finally vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. B. Ajay Mathesh of II CS(SSS).

The TechnoFest Association and Department of Computer Science (SSS) jointly celebrated the birth day of Chhatrapati Sivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Kingdom on 18.02.2022 at the  Seminar Hall. The celebration started with the welcome address delivered by Ms.Sahithya of II B.Sc CS (SSS). Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department, delivered a speech to commemorate the life of Sivaji Maharaj. Mrs.S.Nirmala Devi, AP of CS delivered a felicitation address and insisted the importance of student’s participation in the association activities.

In order to celebrate  Chhatrapati Sivaji’s birth day, the department organized various competitions such as Elocution, Drawing and verse writing for the students of II B.Sc CS (SSS). Various non technical events were organized to the students of II B.Sc CS (SSS) and their details are given below. Finally the session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms.Pooja shri of II B.Sc CS (SSS).
