The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai and Gateway Software Solutions – Delivery partner of HP Enterprise, Coimbatore on 28.12.2018 at Board Room, SLCS. Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS and Mr.Sabari Muthu Nathan, Executive Manager, Gateway Software Solutions were the chief guest. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, Dept. of CS & IT coordinated the program. The faculty members of the department of CS & IT were also participated. The purpose of the memorandum of understanding is to ensure research & projects to the students of Computer Science and share the knowledge and skills available in both organizations. Through this MoU, activities such as Value Added Courses, Seminars, Workshops, Internship, IPTs & FTPs on various recent technologies were planned for execution.

The Department of CS & IT conducted Board of Studies Meeting for the academic year 2018 – 19 (Even Semester) on 28.12.2018 at 11.00 am at Boardroom. The examination pattern of the subject Environmental Studies is changed from descriptive type as written mode in to multiple choice questions as online mode. This is resolved in the meeting and it will be come in to effect from 2018 -19 even semesters onwards.

The Department of CS & IT conducted a value added course on “CompTIA Networking N+” for II B.Sc CS (SSS) students from 24.12.2018 to 28.12.2018. Mr.V.Sarath Kumar from Ventra Techno soft Pvt Ltd, Chennai was trainer. The students were undergone training in the following topics –   Network Technologies, Network Protocols, Network Communication and troubleshooting the devices and Network Security. The practical demonstration was also given to the students by the trainer. The students were encouraged to appear for International certification in CompTIA Networking N+ at the end of the session.

The Department of Computer Science & IT conducted Value Added Course on “Security Fundamentals” from 17.12.2018 to 22.12.2018 for II B.Sc CS (SSS) students.  Mr. Nagakumar , CEO , Metro Lab, Hyderabad was trainer. The training was given on the following topics, Operating System Security, Security Layer, Network Security and Security Softwares. The session was very helpful to the students to appear for MTA examination in Security Fundamentals.

On behalf of Department of CS & IT, Guest Lecture has been organized on 17.12.2018 for II B.Sc CS(SSS) students at Seminar Hall. The resource person of this session Mr.Nagakumar, Managing Director, Metro Labs, Hyderabad shared his own industry experience and the various job opportunities in IT industry.

Mr.Nagakumar advised students not to participate more in social medias through posting their selfies and their own videos to avoid misuse of their videos. He advised students to improve their programming knowledge to excel in IT industry.

On behalf of Department of CS & IT an Field visit was arranged for I B.Sc CS (SSS) students on 14.12.2018 to VOC Port, Tuticorin. Students visited to various ships in the port.

Students visited to central control room of the port. The engineer explained the computerized process following in the port that is how the ships are getting permission to enter in to the port, weather forecasting methods, etc.

On behalf of Department of CS & IT an industrial visit was arranged for II B.Sc CS (SSS) students on 12.12.2018 at Gateway Software Solutions, Coimbatore. The HR of Gateway Software Solutions conducted very informative session for the students.

He motivated the students to select particular domain like web development, mobile apps development & software testing etc to get a good job in IT industry. Also he discussed the importance of aptitude & reasoning skills to enter into IT industry. Finally students interacted with him by asking questions.

On behalf of Department of CS & IT, a guest lecture was organized on 30^th, November 2018 for I B.SC CS (SSS) and II B.Sc CS (SSS) students at Seminar Hall in the topic “Job Opportunities in IT Industry”. M.Vishalakshi of II B.Sc.CS(SSS) welcomed the gathering. Dr.K.Archunan, Vice Principal delivered felicitation address. Mrs.N.Anuradha, HOD, Dept. Of CS & IT introduced our chief guest to the students.

Chief Guest Mr.Nambi Krishnan (Alumni 2007 – 10 B.Sc CS Batch), Training Operations Lead, HCL Technologies, Madurai gave knowledge about IT industry and how it plays a vital role in all sectors. He insisted that, how an attitude plays a role in our life. Also he stressed how an attitude is important in our career path. Vote of thanks was delivered by M.Muthu Raja, I .B.Sc CS (SSS).

Department of Computer Science and Information Technology conducted Technofest Associate Meet on 30, November 2018 at Seminar Hall. The meeting was started with a devotional prayer song. M.Vishalakshi of II B.Sc CS(SSS) delivered the welcome speech. Priety Leka M & Monisha M of II B.Sc CS(SSS) compered for the entire session. And the session was continued with the power point presentation by the students, V.Kaarthiayani & A.Lalitha of I B.Sc.CS(SSS) about “3D password” V.Siva of I B.Sc.CS(SSS) about “BIGDATA” and T.K.Gana Preetha & H.Abhinaya of II B.Sc.CS(SSS) about Security&privacy. The next event was Googly, which comprises of 3 events i.e.) Logo finding, Advertisement finding and Connexions. These events were given more opportunity to get involved in the meet to all students. The best created and updated blog was selected and showcased in front of the students. M.Vikaas of I B.Sc.CS(SSS) was selected for that purpose and he was honored by gifting a momentum by Mrs.N.Anuradha, HOD, Dept of CS&IT. The session came to an end with a vote of thanks delivered by M.Muthuraja of  I B.Sc.CS(SSS).

The awareness program on usage of mobile phones was conducted at T.P.K.P.U Middle School, Nedumadurai on 28/11/2018 by the Department of CS & IT, SLCS. The program was started with welcome speech by Mr.Kasi Rajan, Head Master, T.P.K.P.U Middle School, Nedumadurai. Mrs.N.Anuradha, HOD, Department of CS & IT, SLCS gave a brief introduction on mobile phones and their roles in our day to day life.

V.Karthiyayini, K.S.Shalini, A.S.Priyadharshini, S.Shruthikaa and N.B.Nandhini from I B.Sc CS (SSS) presented a mime act on impact of mobile phones in society. Through the mime the students came to know about the addiction towards selfies and how the mobile phone radiations harm our human body.

P.Jerald Giltus and M.Priety Leka of II B.Sc CS (SSS) had an interaction session with the students about the boons and banes of mobile phone usage. This interactive session gave the students some knowledge about the threats in social media and how to handle the phones in safe manner. S.Vikas and R.A.Sathish Babu of I B.Sc CS (SSS) demonstrated IOT project on home automation. Their demonstration gave an inspiration to the students.

The program came to an end with feedback from students of the school and vote of thanks was delivered by the faculty of the school by thanking the faculties and students of SLCS for conducting this awareness program for their school students.
