On 13 November 2019, Mr. V. Sivaa and Mr. P. K. Dilipkumar of II B.Sc CS presented a paper on “Cyber Security”. Mr. V. Shivaa shared his knowledge on “Cyber Security” with the students of I B.Sc CS. He explained how an intruder gains unauthorized access to protected systems and steals the user data through phishing, keylogger, bad USB, online fraud, spoofing, and Remote Administration Tool(RAT). It was an eye opening session for the students as they got awareness about Cyber Security.
On behalf of the Department of CS & Networking, a Guest Lecture was organized on 10th, December 2019 for II B.Sc CS (SSS) & II B.Sc Networking students at the Seminar Hall on the topic “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning”. H.Abinaya, II B.Sc.CS(SSS) welcomed the gathering. Dr.B.Ramamoorthy, Principal delivered the presidential address. Mrs.N.Anuradha, HoD, Dept. Of CS delivered the felicitation address and introduced the Chief Guest Mr.Nanu Swamy, Alumni, IIT Madras.
Mrs.Naveena Nanu Swamy, Alumni, IIT Madras delivered the special address. The Chief Guest delivered the key note address about AI & ML. Mr.Vignesh, CTO, Quantanics Pvt Ltd, Madurai elaborated the importance of AI & ML. V.Aarthi, II .B.Sc Networking delivered the vote of thanks. Totally 58 students got benefited through this program.
The Department of CS organized Career Guidance programme on 08.11.2019 for III B.Sc CS(SSS) students at Seminar Hall. Mrs.N.Anuradha, HoD, Dept. of CS introduced our Chief Guest Mr.Sabarinathan Muthu, Executive Manager, Gateway Software Solutions, Coimbatore. Our Principal delivered Presidential address.
The Chief Guest of this session shared his own industry experience and the various job opportunities in IT industry. Also he encouraged the students to choose a particular domain to shine in their career.
A TechTalk event for the students of II year, Computer Science Department was conducted on 08, November 2019. Ms. V. Kaarthiyaini of II B.Sc CS(SSS) presented a paper on “ Humanoid Robot”. She shared her experience on developing a humanoid and explained how it works.
The Department of CS conducted an Orientation Programme on 04.11.2019 at 08.00 AM in Seminar Hall for the I B.Sc CS(SSS), II B.Sc CS (SSS) & III B.Sc CS students. Our department HoD Mrs.N.Anuradha introduced the subjects that they are going to study during the II & IV semesters. Faculty in-charges of each class were also introduced to the students.
Class representatives for each class were selected and they were advised to do their duty in a sincere manner. M.S.Raagem, II B.Sc CS(SSS) ‘B’ was selected as Secretary and K.Shalini, II B.Sc CS(SSS) ‘A’ was selected as Joint-Secretary for our Department Association for the upcoming semesters.
On 09.10.2019, Alumna of CS & IT Department, Mrs.D.Keerthana (Batch: 2016 – 2019), working at TCS, Chennai interacted with I year CS (SSS) students. She shared her experience and gave excellent guide to get job at TCS. She also motivated the students to concentrate on studies and to attend technical events to update their knowledge. I year students clarified their queries by interacting with Mrs.D.Keerthana.
A guest lecture on Digital India was held on 19th, September 2019 for II B.Sc CS(SSS) & III B.Sc CS(SSS) students. The session began with a welcome speech by L.G.Subhashini, II B.Sc CS(SSS) ‘B’. The Presidential address was given by Principal Dr.B.Ramamoorthy. Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics addressed the students and filled the atmosphere with positive vibration. The felicitation address was delivered by Head of the Department Mrs.N.Anuradha.
The session was handled by the Chief Guest Mr.M. Balamanikandeswaran, Trainer, Synergy School of Business Skills, Madurai. He explained about Digital Marketing and Social Marketing very interactively. At last feedback was given by students. Vote of thanks was proposed by V.Uma, II B.Sc CS(SSS) ‘B’. Totally 42 students got benefited through this program.
On 5th September 2019 students from the Department of CS have participated in the symposium held at AAA College of Engineering & Technology, Sivakasi. Totally 11 students participated in various events such as “You can’t see me” (Coding), “Game O Game” (Car game), “Puzzle hunt” (Technical Quiz), and “Paper Chase” (Non-technical Event). The Staff Member Mrs.S.Nirmala Devi accompanied the students and encouraged them to participate in all the events. Students have won prize in the following events.

The Department of Computer Science(SSS) conducted, Peer Teaching Programme for the I year students. The peer teaching, held on 25, August 2019, was based on Value Education. In this session, Mr. C. Yash Jain and Mr. S. Vikas of II B.Sc CS(SSS) gave their peer teaching on Religious Value of Jainism to the students of I B.Sc CS(SSS). Ms. K. Subhashree of I B.Sc CS gave her peer teaching on The Values of Confidence. The session came to an end with a general discussion on Value of Religion.
On 24.08.2019, alumna of Computer Science department, Ms.G. Divya Bharathi (Batch: 2016 – 2019), currently studying at Karunya Universtiy, interacted with I year CS (SSS) students. She shared her experience and explained about the resource availability and utilization inside SLCS for the student community. She also motivated the students to do many projects and to concentrate much on studies for better living. Ms. Divya Bharathi enlightened the students about the opportunities for security systems and its scope in industries and other sectors. The students are well motivated through this session.
