The Commerce Department’s Association Cuentas organized its Valedictory Function for the academic year 2019-20 was conducted on 03.03.2020. The program started with the welcome address rendered by the President of the Asssociation, Ms.K.Anjana, III B.Com (B&I), the Presidential note was delivered by Mrs.V.Padmavathy, Head, Department of Commerce. The Association Activity Report for the year 2019-20 was read out by the Association Vice-President, Mr.B.Gokulnath, III B.Com(B&I). Torch bearers of the association for the academic year 2019-20 surrendered their badges and the program ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Association Secretary, Ms.Vigneshwari, II B.Com(B&I).
Placement drive
CMA CGM World’s fourth largest shipping Company conducted a Campus Placement drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 28.02.2020. The recruitment process consisted of Aptitude Test, Typing Test and Personal interview. Around 17 students participated in the recruitment and performed well, among whom 6 students were selected.
Placement drive
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance conducted a Campus Placement drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 11.02.2020. The recruitment process comprised Aptitude Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Around 20 students participated in the recruitment. The Recruiters were happy and satisfied with the performance of the students. 5 students were selected and received their offer letters.

Equitas Bank conducted a Campus Placement drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 06.02.2020. Panel members from Equitas Bank tested the potential of 25 students, who participated in the recruitment. The selection process consisted of Aptitude Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The recruiters were happy and satisfied with the performance of the students. 12 students were selected.
Career Counseling
The Department of B.Com (B&I) organized a Career Counseling programme for the III B.Com(B&I) students on January 28,2020 Dr.Vaishali Bhambure, Placement officer, National Insurance Academy, Pune, addressed the students regarding the Opportunities and Prospects in the Insurance sector. Mr. G.Srinivasan. Secretary, Insurance Institute of India, Madurai Branch, informed the career opportunities available in the Insurance field to the students. All the students of III B.Com (B&I) participated and were thankful for this beneficial session.
Industrial Visit to Dinamalar & Parle-G Factory
The Department of Commerce organized an Industrial Visit to Dinamalar and Parle-G factory on 27.01.2020 for the B.Com (B&I) I Year students. They visited the Dinamalar daily Factory and observed the processes involved in publishing newspapers. They also visited Parle-G factory and saw first-hand the processes involved in manufacturing biscuits. They were accompanied by faculty members Dr.S.Gurupriya, Asst.Prof of Commerce and Ms.Shanmugapriya.B, Asst.Prof of Commerce.
Career counseling
The Department of B.Com(B&I) organized a Career counseling programme for the III B.Com(B&I) students on January 12, 2020. Dr.S.Pugalenthi, Head, MBA, RLIMS and Dr.K.Navarathnam – Associate Professor, RLIMS had an interactive session with the students regarding the opportunities available after completing MBA. They also created awareness about CAT, MAT and TANCET Exams, which is a pre-requisite for admission in ‘B’ Schools. All the Students of III B.Com(B&I) participated and were thankful for this beneficial session.

Faculty Development Programme
Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a one day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)” in collaboration with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) for the Commerce faculty members working in the college on 03.01.2020. Resource Person, Mr. Madesh Kuppusamy, ACCA-UK Certified Faculty & a registered Faculty with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India delivered a talk on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for an effective student centric teaching and learning. The FDP is designed so as to upgrade the teaching, training, and research skills of commerce faculty members in the field of Accounting.
Extensional activity
As part of the extensional program the students of the Department of Commerce B.Com (B&I) went to the Govt. School, Nedumadurai. Through this program the students of B.Com (B&I) created awareness on ‘Road Safety’ to the VIII students, who in turn, were asked to educate their parents on road safety. The awareness was created through Skits, Charts and interaction. Nearly 50 students benefited through this program. Prof.R.Damotharan coordinated the program. The Head master of the school appreciated the students of B.Com (B&I) for their tremendous effort.
