The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science association with “Pinnacle Association” conducted an SLCS – Samaaj Seva – Extension Activity on “Digital Literacy Awareness”, on 18/02/2022 (Friday) at the Government Middle School, Arittapatti village, Madurai. During the session, the students were given awareness on access to digital education and hands-on training was given on educational tools. Totally, 24 students participated in the event and 150 students got benefitted by the program. Our college students were appreciated by the Head Master of the school for their valuable contribution to educate their students.
ASSOCIATION MEETING REPORT
The PINNACLE, Association of Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science conducted an Association Meeting to facilitate, consolidate and coordinate the activities of the department at SLCS Annexure building on 12.02.2022 (Saturday). The chief guest of association meeting was Dr. K. Rajeshkumar, Head of the Department of BBA. The association meet started with the prayer song followed by welcome address given by R.Thiyagesh (II Honours).
The Chief Guest introduction was given by Mr. Ravi Shankar, Head of the Department of Commerce (Honours). The following activities were conducted in the session:
- Paper presentation
- Mind games
- Cultural events
The paper presentation was judged by the Chief Guest Dr K.Rajeshkumar. The session ended with the Vote of thanks given by S. Sri Vigneshwari (II Honours). Totally, 63 students participated in the program.
SLCS Samaaj seva – EXTENSION ACTIVITY “SHIELD” – 2021
The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science conducted an Extension Activity “SHIELD” on 24.01.2022 at Thiruparakundram, Madurai. As a part of the activity, the public were reiterated regarding the spread of Omicron virus. They were advised to adhere to the precautionary measures strictly to prevent themselves from the spread of COVID. Mask and sanitizers were issued to them. The entire program was organized and implemented by the students under the guidance of the Head of the Department. Totally 50 people got benefitted by this extension activity. This activity made the public realize the importance of wearing mask and using sanitizers.
SLCS Samaaj seva – EXTENSION ACTIVITY “PROPEL” – 2021
The Department of Commerce (Honours) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science conducted an Extension Activity “PROPEL” on 07.01.2022 at Froebel Fredrick Vidya Matric School, Aviyur, Virudunagar. During the session we created Professional Career Awareness among the higher secondary students. Our students have shared the information related to various professional exam opportunities, eligibility criteria and examination dates of various competitive exams. The session was designed and handled by our III year students under the guidance of the Head of the Department. Totally 35 students and 3 faculty members participated in the session. The program ended with a Q & A session which was handled by our students.
OnlineWorkshop on “ஆடிட்டர்ஆகவேண்டுமா?”
Department of Commerce (Honours and ACCA)of SubbalakshmiLakshmipathy College of Science, Maduraiorganized a one day OnlineWorkshop on “ஆடிட்டர்ஆகவேண்டுமா?”on 25.06.2021. The resource persons Mr. Aravind CR, Regional Manager-Business Development, ISDC, UK and Mr. A. Rajaseelan, CEO, SUCLA Academyexplained the career opportunities in Chartered Accountant (CA) &Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA). The session was interactive and the resource persons answered the participants queries related to the course. The college facilities, hostel facilities, academic strength and department values were also highlighted with regard to admission of B.Com. Honours and B.Com. (Honours) ACCA. A total of 30 students participated and got benefited from this program.
Online International Webinar on “On Being an Entrepreneur amidst Covid 19”
Department of Commerce (Honours and ACCA)&Internal Quality Assurance Cell of SubbalakshmiLakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai jointly organizedanOnlineInternational Webinar on “On Being an Entrepreneur amidst Covid 19”on 19.06.2021. The resource person of this programme was Prof. Dr. KosgaYagapparaj M.Com. M.Phil., B.Ed., Ph.D., (ACCA-UK),Putra International College, Malaysia / Trine University, USA,who explained the significance of Entrepreneurship Development in various areas related to career development and enrichment of success in life. The important strategies and techniques for entrepreneur amidst Covid 19 were also explained in detail with real life examples. A total of 3 faculty members and 68 students participated and got benefited in this program.
Women Empowerment Cell
Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy college of Science, celebrated the birthday of “Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi”. Dr. M. Tharani, Coordinator of WEC welcomed the gathering. Dr.B. Ramamoorty, the Principal along with Dr.R. L. Ramnath, NAAC Advisor felicitated the celebration. Students enthusiastically delivered speeches and verses about the legendry poet. A debate was conducted on “Pudhumai Pengal” and students energetically voiced their views on women’s position from ancient times till today.
Industrial Visit
he Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a one day visit to ‘Parle G’ Biscuit Company, Madurai. A total of 34 students from I year B.Com (Honours) and I year B.Com (Honours) ACCA accompanied by 2 faculty members visited the company. Mr.Kather Ushan, coordinated with the students and explained the process of manufacture. This visit helped the students to understand the manufacture of biscuits. The visit ended with the faculty and the students thanking the management of Parle G Biscuit for providing a valuable opportunity.
Industrial Visit
The Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a one day visit to the ‘Dinamalar Production Unit’ at Madurai. A total of 34 students from I year B.Com (Honours) and I year B.Com (Honours) ACCA accompanied by 2 faculty members visited the unit. This visit helped the students to understand the process involved in fully automated printing of newspapers and magazines. Students interacted with officials working at Dinamalar and were told about the mode of organizing news in columns, usages of colors and inks, loading & distributing of papers, etc. The visit ended with the faculty and the students thanking the management of ‘Dinamalar’ for providing a valuable opportunity.
Industrial Visit
The Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a one day visit to ‘Ramco Cements’, Virudhunagar. A total of 40 students from II.B.Com (Honours) accompanied by 2 faculty members visited the industry. Senior engineer, Mr. Siva Swamy explained the various steps involved in the manufacture of cement. Students learnt that fly-ash, slag, gypsum, lime stone, iron ore etc are used as raw materials for making of cement. This visit helped the students to understand the manufacture of cement. The visit ended with the faculty and the students thanking the management of Ramco Cements for providing a valuable opportunity
