B.Com. (Honours) ACCA first year students attended the induction program on 29th September, 2021 between 09.30 am and 12.30 pm at Seminar Hall and in the college campus ground of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. Our respected Principal Dr. R Sujatha has engaged with freshers and conducted various events to motivate them. She also threw more light on required skills which need to be developed.
LIVE WEBINAR: SHARPEN YOUR AXE
Third year B.Com. (Honours) ACCA students attended the live webinar on “Sharpen your Axe” on 24th September, 2021 between 11.00 am and 12.00 Noon at Conference Hall, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. The event was organized by ACCA UK. The resource persons were Dr. Dinesh Kumar Murugesan, Global Head HR, Gbs & HR Head, India at DSM as well as Ms. Monica Mathais Seigell, HR Business Partner – Corporate Functions (APJ) at Microfocus. They shared their ideas with our students on how to make valuable CV and required interview skills. This discussion provided to our final year students the necessary skills and techniques to prepare for an interview.
PARENTS TEACHERS MEETING
Department of Commerce (Honours and ACCA) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, conducted Parents-Teachers Association Meeting held at Hall No.104 of RLINS block on 22.09.2021 between 11.00 am and 12.30 pm. There was a discussion with the parents on the academic performance of the students and their performance in the first internal examination. Students were motivated to improve their performance in upcoming internal test. Students were asked to maintain discipline, neat dress codes and properly groom hair. Parents were highly satisfied with the response related to their queries.
VALUE ADDED COURSE ON “PREPARATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS”
The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organizes a value-added course on “Preparation of Financial Statements” on all Saturdays from 28.08.2021 to 11.12.2021. The course is resourced by Dr. K.Archunan, Vice Principal, SLCS. A lecture was delivered on applying accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities, including analysis and interprets financial statements. All III Year ACCA students participated in this course.
OnlineWorkshop on “ஆடிட்டர்ஆகவேண்டுமா?”
Department of Commerce (Honours and ACCA)of SubbalakshmiLakshmipathy College of Science, Maduraiorganized a one day OnlineWorkshop on “ஆடிட்டர்ஆகவேண்டுமா?”on 25.06.2021. The resource persons Mr. Aravind CR, Regional Manager-Business Development, ISDC, UK and Mr. A. Rajaseelan, CEO, SUCLA Academyexplained the career opportunities in Chartered Accountant (CA) &Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA). The session was interactive and the resource persons answered the participants queries related to the course. The college facilities, hostel facilities, academic strength and department values were also highlighted with regard to admission of B.Com. Honours and B.Com. (Honours) ACCA. A total of 30 students participated and got benefited from this program.
Online International Webinar on “On Being an Entrepreneur amidst Covid 19”
Department of Commerce (Honours and ACCA)&Internal Quality Assurance Cell of SubbalakshmiLakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai jointly organizedanOnlineInternational Webinar on “On Being an Entrepreneur amidst Covid 19”on 19.06.2021. The resource person of this programme was Prof. Dr. KosgaYagapparaj M.Com. M.Phil., B.Ed., Ph.D., (ACCA-UK),Putra International College, Malaysia / Trine University, USA,who explained the significance of Entrepreneurship Development in various areas related to career development and enrichment of success in life. The important strategies and techniques for entrepreneur amidst Covid 19 were also explained in detail with real life examples. A total of 3 faculty members and 68 students participated and got benefited in this program.
Memorial Day of Lal Bahadhur Shashtri
The department of Commerce (Honours & ACCA) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science celebrated the Memorial Day of Lal Bahadhur Shastri on 11.01.2020. Dr. M. Tharani, Head of the Department organized the celebration. Ms. M. M. Kavya of II Honours welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. Ramamoorty, Principal delivered the felicitation address. Students enthusiastically and energetically performed a skit, “The Tashkent Files”, a political thriller revolving around the mysterious death of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The celebrations ended with Mr. R. Ramkumar of II Honours delivering the vote of thanks. 80 students got benefited.
Guest Lecture
The Department of Commerce (Honours) organized a one day Guest Lecture for the I &II year B.Com (Honours) and I year B.Com (Honours) with ACCA students on 12/12/2019(Thursday). CA Ayanar, a practicing Chartered Accountant (CA), addressed the students. He highlighted the opportunities available for Company Secretaryship (CS). He also emphasized through his interaction with the students that basic concepts of subjects should be understood well in order to gain strong knowledge.Totally, 42 students participated and got benefitted through the session.
Board of Studies
The Department of Commerce (Honours) conducted the Second Board of Studies Meeting for the I year B.Com (Honours) – ACCA Specialization students on 15/10/2019 afternoon at SLCS Board Room. Dr. M. Tharani, HoD(i/c) of Commerce (Honours) presented the Syllabus in front of Madurai Kamaraj University Nominee Dr.A.Mayilmurugan, Head, Associate Professor of Commerce, The Madura College, Subject Expert Dr. Karthikeyan, Dean and Controller of Examinations, Vivekananda College, Tiruvedakam and Industry Expert CA Ayyanar. Dr. B. Ramamoorty, the Principal along with Dr.R. L. Ramnath, NAAC Advisor, and Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics felicitated the Board of Studies meeting.
Guest Lecture
Department of Commerce (Honours & ACCA) organized a Guest Lecture for I year B.Com (Honours) – ACCA Specialization students on 23/08/2019 forenoon. CA Sarvesh Mopkar, a Senior Lecturer from ISDC Projects India Pvt. Ltd addressed the students. He stressed the demand for ACCA qualified Accountants in India as well as globally. He also highlighted the competencies required for the future Accounting Professionals.
