The Department of B.Com (Honours) ACCA successfully organised an informative program “A Guidance and Networking program for Future ACCA Professionals” under the Royal charter association on 02.08.2025 at SLCS Annexure block Hall no: 102. The program began with formal inauguration. This session was graced by the esteemed chief guest Ms. S. Subathra, Associate – Academics & operations support, ISDC Chennai. This program aimed to provide the guidance to the students to begin their journey in the field of global Professional course ACCA. She explained the various sources which are available in the ACCA website and ISDC Classes. In continuation with, Mr C.R. Aravind, The Regional Head, ISDC, Bangalore, provided a comprehensive overview of the ACCA qualification, outlining its global recognition, structure and vast career opportunities it offers to aspiringfinancing professionals. There was an interactive Q & A session during which students actively engaged with the speaker, asking insightful questions related to the ACCA papers, examination strategies and career pathways. The chief guests addressed each query, offering practical advice and motivational insights that were encouraging the students.The session proved to be highly beneficial for the first year ACCA Students. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered byMs. S. Prabha, Assistant professor of the department. In total 1 faculty and 24 students were benefitted in this program.

The Department of B.Com (Honours) ACCA successfully organized an insightful sessionunder the royal charter association titled “A Career Guidance Program on becoming ACCA Affiliates” on 02.08.2025 SLCS Annexure block Hall no: 116. The event was specifically aimed at second and third-year ACCA students to provide them with essential guidance and effective strategies for their upcoming December term examinations. The session was graced by Mrs. Nandadevi K V, Business Relationship Manager, ISDC, Mangalore delivered an engaging and informative talk focused on digital exam strategies and resource utilization.During her address, emphasized the importance of practicing in the digital mode, particularly on laptops, as the ACCA exams are conducted online. She also introduced students to the variety of free resources available on the official ACCA website, including StudyHub, mock test papers, and practice papers, encouraging them to utilize these tools to enhance their preparation. Furthermore, she stressed the value of professional networkingand recommended that students stay in touch with their seniors and ACCA affiliates, especially those who have already completed the program, to gain insights into current markettrends, job opportunities, and industry expectations. She also encouraged them to connect via LinkedIn and other professional platforms to build meaningful connections in the ACCA community.The session included a lively Q&A segment, where students asked a range of questions related to exams and career paths. The chief guest responded thoughtfully to each query, offering practical tips and motivational advice. The interaction added great value to the session and was highly appreciated by the attendees.The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. S. Royal Charter Association Inauguration Program 2025on 05.07.2025
The Department of Commerce (Honours & ACCA) conducted the Royal Charter Association Inauguration program on 05.07.2025 at the AV Hall of SLCS Annexure block. The event began with a formal inauguration. The Auditor CA.P. Ganesavel invited as the Chief guest for the program. The Head of the department Dr. D. Selvaraj addressed the gathering. The meeting was held to elect the association members for the academic year 2025-2026. Through the democratic process, the following students were elected. The department faculty Ms. S. 2025 Batch Fresher’s day celebration on 30.06.2025
The Department of Commerce (Honours& ACCA) has conducted “The 2025 Batch fresher’s day program” on 30.06.2025 in the seminar hall at 8.50am.The event commenced with a formal inauguration.The Faculty members also addressed the gathering, offering words of encouragement and outlining the academic roadmap and support systems available. The Head of the department, Dr. D. Selvaraj, gave a concise overview of ACCA and the department.The students participated enthusiastically and showing their talents. The fresher’s day provided an excellent opportunity for the new students to get familiar with peers. The Third year ACCA Student Ms. M. Iswarya and Ms.A. Karuppiah gave the vote of gratitude. In total 28 students were benefitted in this program.
Alumni interaction program on 26.06.2025
The Department of Commerce (Honours& ACCA) conducted an “Alumni interaction program 2025” on 26.06.2025 at Seminar Hall. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. D. Selvaraj, Head of the department and featured Mr. S. Vignesh a 2022 batch alumnus. The alumnus shared their journey from college to their current professional endeavors, highlighting the challenges faced and the lessons learned. The students actively participated in the interaction, asking questions and seeking guidance on various topics, including career choices, ACCA exams, Industry trends and personal development. The alumni provided valuable insights, exams strategies, experience in ACCA exams and offering advice to the students. The program was a resounding success. In total 2 faculty members and 25 students were presented in the program.
“Fresher’s Day Celebration2025-26 on 01.07.2025”
Welcoming guests and new people is a traditional cultural practice that applies to everyone. In this spirit, we welcomed the new students by conducting a Fresher’s Day event to build good relationships and harmony with the existing students. The seniors wished their juniors good luck in their upcoming endeavours through various forms such as singing, dancing, and motivational speeches.The “Pinnacle Association” of the Department of Commerce (Honours) organized the Fresher’s Day celebration on 01.07.2025 to welcome the 2025–28 batch of students. All the students were felicitated by our Head of the Department, Dr.D.Selvaraj, who addressed them with a motivational speech. The session was further enriched by motivational talks aimed at building a good rapport among the students.In total, 46 students participated in the event and benefited from it.
Industrial visit to the Idhayam Oil Factory, Villipathiri, Virudhunagar on 05.07.2024
The Department of Commerce (Hons) ACCA students and teachers visited the Idhayam Oil Factory, Villipathiri, Virudhunagar on 05.07.2024. The visit was an experiential learning and helped students to understand the production process of sesame oil. The students learnt the process involved in the oil extraction and also had an idea about the By-products and the waste product, which after further processing have got a great commercial value, revenue and workers unit. The HR explained the Exports process of the products. The students learned about the Quality control, the work in progress and storage process of the products. Totally 47 students from I, II and III year ACCA were participated in this Industrial visit.
Industrial visit to Venus Home Appliances Pvt. Ltd, Thoothukudi On 08.01.2025
The Department of Commerce (Hons) ACCA students and faculties visited the Venus Home Appliances Pvt. Ltd., 5/54A, Senthilampannai, Thoothukudi – 628103 on 08.01.2025 (Wednesday). We visited the factory it is the leading manufacturer of water heaters geysers in India. The students were shown the entire water heater manufacturing process, including the raw material area, quality checking unit, packaging section, and accounts department, inside the factory. Students learned about the quality control management system, how appliances are inspected for quality, and how long the inspection takes. Totally, 52 from I, II and III ACCA along with 2 faculty members visited the factory.
2024 Batch of ACCA Students Fresher’s day celebration
The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA has conducted “The 2024 Batch First Year Fresher’s Day celebration” on 16.09.2024 in the SLCS seminar hall at 2.15 pm. The event aimed to provide a platform for freshers to interact with their seniors and faculty members. The event began with a formal inauguration ceremony. The head of the department, Dr. D. Selvaraj, gave a brief introduction of ACCA and the department. The Class In charge, Ms. S. Charumathi, welcomed the students with warmth. Following the event, there were other fascinating and entertaining activities. The Senior students welcomed the juniors by presenting a gift to the freshers. A third-year student, Mr. S. Vignesh, delivered the vote of thanks. In total, 52 students and 2 faculty members were present at the event.
Career development Program on the topic of Ethics and Professionalism
The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA has conducted the Career development Program on the topic of Ethics and Professionalism on 04.12.2024 (Wednesday) in Hall no: 116, SLCS Annexure block at 09.00 am to 4.30pm. The welcome speech was delivered by Ms. S. Charumathi, Assistant professor. The Chief Guest address was delivered by Dr. D. Selvaraj, Head of the department. The program began with an engaging introduction to ethics and professionalism, highlighting their significance in the workplace. The code of ethics was thoroughly explained with a focus on its application in real life scenarios. The case studies and group discussions encouraged participants to think critically about ethics in the workplace.
