Exposure Visit to Gandhi Museum

ZEAL, BBA Association of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized an exposure visit to Gandhi Museum, Madurai on 26.10.2021. The students learnt in detail the life style and values of Mahatma Gandhi. The students had a great learning experience. Totally 110 students comprising of I, II and III year BBA participated and got benefited through this visit.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO“RUBY FOOD PRODUCTS”

FAGAS an association from the Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized an Industrial visit to Ruby food products on 26/10/2021. Totally 40 students of I,II & III year and two faculty members participated in the visit. Ms.S.Abinaya, Production Data Analyst, alumni of our department explained the processing and production of milk shake and juices. The students have  actively participated and got their doubts clarified at the end of the visit. The feedback of the industrial visit was collected and most of the students got benefited.

Internship Guidance Meeting

The objective of the final internship is to develop the necessary skills to function as an entry level manager in the Hospitality Industry. In continuation of the same, the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Internship progamme for the III year students (53 students). The training programme was conducted from November 25, 2021 to May 15, 2022. The department organized an Internship Guidance Meeting on 25.10.21 to orient the students about the internship programme. Mr.C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the Department, guided the students and their parents regarding the importance of Log book for students, Hotel information and accommodation availability for students. He also spoke about training Reporting date, Dress code during the training programme, Importance of the Training Certificate, Covid 19- Test (PCR) prior to joining their respective Hotels.

Through this programme the students and parents will be able to understand their roles and responsibilities during the internship programme. Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science delivered the presidential address.  Students and parents eagerly and   actively participated in the programme.

OUT DOOR CATERING (ODC) at Madurai Drive Inn Restaurant, Taj Gateway Hotel, Madurai

Madurai Drive Inn Restaurant and Taj Gateway Hotel have given an opportunity for our students to do outdoor catering (ODC). The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has sent 20 students from second and third year for ODC programme from 23.10.21 to 24.10.21. It was a great platform for the students to gain knowledge about theme decoration, buffet arrangement, table setting and different cuisine food preparation techniques. This opportunity motivated and gave hands-on experience to the students.

Career Counselling session on “Recent Trends in Food Processing”

A Career Counselling session on Recent Trends in Food Processing was organized by FAGAS, an association of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management & Career Counselling cell for III year students on 23.10.2021 in G14 class room at 12.30pm.  Ms.S.Hema.  (Batch2018-21) spoke about the requisite skills to become a successful person after pursuing post graduation in this field. She said that the line of action should be initiated right from today for those with passion to begin their career. She also mentioned various opportunities available and the rewarding experiences that she is having right now in Karunya University. Totally 14 students participated in this interaction session.

webinar on “Function and Role of World Bank”

         The Department of Commerce B.Com (B&I)  organized a webinar on  “Function and Role of World Bank” on 23.10. 2021. Shri.Shanthakumar Sundaram, operations officer, World Bank , New Delhi was the resource person.  He explained in detail the history  and   role   of the world bank and   also offered technical ,economic and monetary advice to member countries for the specific projects by world bank .This webinar would help students to get an idea about  the function  and  role of  the world bank . A total of 150  students participated and got benefited in this program.

EARN WHILE YOU LEARN

Department of Marine catering and Hotel Management & Department of Food science & Processing Management jointly organized a value added programme on Bakery craft and Confectionery skills for the final year students( 79 students) conducted by Desotta school of Baking, karaikudi starting from 19.10.2021 to 23.10.2021(5 days). Chef. Kaleeswaran, Hon. Secretary, Bakery Owners Association, was the chief guest for this Bakery workshop, who formally inaugurated the program. Further, the guest delivered the lecture on the Bakery products. Every day our students have prepared different verities of millet cookies, Dough nuts, and Danish Pastries, different varieties of Rolls & Breads and varieties of Cakes & Gateau. It has been sold along with Entrepreneur Development Cell and revenue was generated by the students. The objective of this programme was to create awareness among the students to become an entrepreneur in the field of Bakery and Confectionery as an alternative career option.

Animation Training Workshop

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a One day “Animation Workshop” on 23.10.2021, Saturday at Auditorium for the I & II Year students of Animation and Visual communication Department. The Workshop commenced with a welcome address by Mr.S.Praveen Kumar,  Asst. Prof., Department of Animation.

The programme started with lighting the kuthuvilakku. The Resource persons of the workshop were Mr.Saravana Kumar Pazhani–VFX Head, “Kreatuz Grafix”, Chennai, Mr.Rajesh – Chief Sub Editor, “The Hindu”, Madurai and Mr.BalaSeyameshwaran, proprietor of Seyamesh Solution (our alumni).Mr.Rajesh – Chief Sub Editor, “The Hindu”, Madurai addressed the students on the work flow of Digital painting and gave a demo session. Mr.Saravana Kumar Pazhani–VFX Head, “KreatuzGrafix”, Chennai gave a technical session on VFX production. Mr.BalaSeyameshwaran, proprietor of Seyamesh Solution addressed the students on recent trends and industry workflow.

Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal gave the Presidential address of the programme. Dr.S.Priya, Dean Academics and Dr.K.Archunan, Vice principal gave the felicitation address. Mr.P.Kishorekumar, Head i/c cum Asst. Prof., Department of Animation briefed about the programme. Mr.BabuShajan Kevin, Head i/c cum Asst. prof. Department of Visual communication introduced the guests and Mr.R.R.Arul Prince Raj, Asst. Prof., Department of Visual communication delivered the Welcome address. The Workshop was compered by C.Hemalatha III Year student and S.Madhubala II Year student from Department of Animation. The students took part very actively in the workshop and all the students gave a positive feedback. Totally 120 students participated in the workshop.

TECHIE QUEST CLUB INAGURATION

The department of Computer Science organised an inaugural function  of the Techie Quest club on 22.10.2021 at F40 Hall.Students from various departments participated in the inauguration. The session started with the welcome address given by Mr.Srinisudhan of III B.Sc CS(SSS). Mrs.V.Gayathri, Event Coordinator, Dept. of CS delivered the felicitation address. She explained about the importance of learning cyber security in order to safe guard the personal information.

She, also, encouraged the students to participate in the club activities and develop their skills in Cyber Security. Mr.Sudharsan Prabu, student coordinator from III B.Sc CS (SSS) explained on the  awareness of personal security while using social media sites and online payment gateway. This programme was an eye-opening session for the students from various domains.
