Career Training Programme on “ACCA – Financial Reporting”

The Second year B.Com., (Honours) ACCA students attended the Career Training Programme on “ACCA – Financial Reporting” in collaboration with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) for 2020 – 2023 batch from 22.11.2021 to 27.11.2021 from 9 am to 11.30 am through online zoom meeting (meeting link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86041997696?pwd=MzFNQ3h5b3NacTVtdmdaZmthckwyZz09) by Resource Person, Prof. Priya Nair, ACCA-UK Certified Faculty. The training program helped our students complete the ACCA Knowledge level examinations successfully. A total of 13 students participated and got benefited in this training program.

Career Training Programme on “ACCA – Financial Management”

The Third year B.Com., (Honours) ACCA students attended the Career Training Programme on “ACCA – Financial Management” in collaboration with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) for 2019 – 2022 Batch from 22.11.2021 to 26.11.2021. The programme started at 3 pm and wind up 6 pm through online zoom meeting (meeting link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81866655694?pwd=MzAxL0lrN2czalNZN2NRRVBxRDR1UT09).The resource Person was Prof. Nidhi Kalmady, ACCA-UK Certified Faculty. The training program helped our students to complete the ACCA Knowledge level examinations successfully. A total of 15 students participated and got benefited in this training program.

Career Guidance Programme on “Become ACCA Qualified”

The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA organised the Career Guidance Program on “Become ACCA Qualified” on 26th November, 2021 at 11.30 am. at Hall No. 116. The resource person of the program was Mr. Aravind C R, Regional Manager- Business Development, ISDC, Bangaluru. The speaker started the session with some basic questions regarding the course. He then, went on to highlight the true essence of this course and its demand in the corporate world. To help students have a broader understanding regarding the ACCA course and the opportunities that it brings forth, he claimed that the certification awarded with the course would give the students a higher advantage in the job market. He then gave examples of many exemplary students who took such examinations and now are a part of some of the largest companies in the world. The students have been enlightened with limitless possibilities that arises from the course, and with the development of ACCA in India, the students are being promised with a better future. The students have gotten numerous insights about how the SLCS and the ISDC committee would help them in their future endeavors and where to contact them. Finally, the event ended with an interactive Q and A session that the students actively participated. A total of 22 students participated and got benefited in this program.

CONSTITUTION DAY

The Electoral Literacy Club of subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy  College Of Science, Madurai observed  Constitution day on  26.11.2021 at F38. The constitution day is observed to inculcate the importance and ethics of our constitution among our students as it is the need of the hour to become a good citizen of the nation.

On this August day, Dr. Archunan, Vice principal delivered a speech by emphasizing the roles and responsibilities of the students in the country of Democracy. Mr. V.V. Sundaram, Club Coordinator in his address briefed the   history of framing the constitution and he suggested everyone to be aware of the Indian Constitution. The students were attentive and imbibed the values of the constitution.

TECHIE QUEST CLUB-HACKING AND MOTIVE OF HACKING

The first activity of Techie Quest club was conducted on 22.11.2021 at Academic Lab–I. The club members, club coordinator and student club coordinators participated in the meeting.  Welcome address was given by Mrs.V.Gayathri, AP of CS. Mr.Aadhithyan, from III Year CS conducted a session on “Hacking and Motive of Hacking”. He explained about the hacker, skill set of hacker and the motive of hacker. He also explained about the security measures to be followed while using e-commerce sites. The club members clarified their doubts from the club coordinator. Finally vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.Srinisudhan of III B.Sc CS (SSS).

Global Marketing

The event “Recent Trends in Global Marketing” was organised by the “Lakshya” Department Association of MBA Program on 19th Nov 2021 at  2.30 pm in the  Auditorium  through (Google Meet). The key resource person for the program was Dr Indounas Kostis, Professor (Marketing), Athens University, Greece, Europe. The event was organised to facilitate the learning and  comprehending various aspects of contemporary developments in global marketing. 95 MBA students benefited out of this event.

 

 

Blockchain Technology

The program “Blockchain Technology” was organised by the “Lakshya” Department Association of MBA Program on 18th Nov 2021 at 11.30 am in Auditorium through Google Meet. The key note speaker for the event was Dr Prathibha Garg, Professor (Blockchain), Amity School of Business, Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The event was organised to facilitate the learning and comprehending various aspects of applications of blockchain technology in business. 103 MBA students benefited out of this event.

 

Board of studies meeting

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety Conducted Even semester Board of Studies on 17.11.2021 for B.Sc (Fire and Industrial Safety) and PG diploma in Fire and Industrial Safety for regular and weekend. The BoS meeting was chaired by Mr.I.Vivek Ramkumar Head of the department (Fire and Industrial Safety). Mr.A.Jaiveer Kumar Assistant professor jointly presented the drafted syllabus in the BoS Meeting. The University nominee, the Industrial expert, the academic expert, the Parent nominee, the Alumini, UG student and PG student shared their valuable suggestion regarding the syllabus. The main discussion by the University nominee, Industrial expert and the academic expert was about the recent fire case study, legal complaints and accident happened in the Industries. Finally the BoS meeting as completed in a successful manner for even semester.

CAREER COUNSELING ON CHEMICAL SAFETY

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety has organized a one day Career counseling program through the Alumnus for 40 students of UG F&IS on 17/11/2021. Our College Alumnus Mr.V.Saravana Pandiyan (2018-21 Batch) Coordinator QHSE, Hindustan Technical Services, Chennai was the resource persons for the program. He shared his Industrial experience, the future of Chemical safety field and its job opportunities Safety in India and abroad. He also gave assurance for the internship and placement assistance. He also gave useful suggestion and ideas to the B.Sc., Fire and Industrial Safety students for the bright future. At the end of the program an interactive session was arranged for the I,II,III Year UG F&IS students and PG students who participated in the program. The students of F&IS and engineering graduates felt very happy for arranging such a useful Career guidance  program which helped them to build their Career for a bright future.

ISDC Orientation Programme for ACCA (UK) Course

An exclusive webinar on Orientation Program for ACCA (UK) course was held for the I year students of B.Com. (Hons) ACCA (2021-24 Batch), Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. The programme was organized by the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Bengaluru which was scheduled on 17th November 2021 at 5.15 pm. The Speaker of the Session, Mr. Arun Kashyap N B, Assistant Manager, Operations, International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Bengaluru presented the keynote address enlightening the students with various aspects of ACCA and its integration in the syllabus. He discussed different modules in the ACCA program like “Ethics and Professional Skills Module” while highlighting the key features. He projected a clear understanding of the Awards that can be won from ACCA on completion of papers. He also discussed about the Registration requirements and other documentation procedures that need to be followed. He also gave instructions regarding the examinations and the period within which they are conducted. He provided details about the fees and the mode of payment. He emphasised various ways through which the student can reach out to them and receive their full fledged guidance and support. The event concluded with an interactive question and answer session where in the students had actively participated and got their doubts clarified. Finally, our Head of the Department, Dr. D.Selvaraj expressed his gratitude towards the ISDC committee for their valuable time and energy to put forth such a knowledgeable and informative session. He further thanked them for their exemplary efforts in providing support to the students and help them reach great heights of success. A total of 22 students participated and got benefited in this program.
