BATTLE OF GAMES: STUDENT SHOWCASE – 20.12.2025

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of the School of Animation and Media Studies, SLCS, successfully organized the game event “Battle of Games: Student Showcase” on 10th January 2026 at Animation Academic Lab – 3 from 12:40 PM to 1:30 PM. A total of 21 students from B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization) actively participated in the event. The program was conducted with the objectives of providing a platform for students to showcase their developed games, demonstrate creativity and technical skills, receive constructive feedback, and promote innovation through peer learning.

The session commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Mr. Venu Madhavan K from II B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization), setting a positive tone for the program. The event was smoothly hosted by Ms. Vinothini C from II B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization), who efficiently coordinated the flow of activities. The program concluded with a vote of thanks (valedictory address) given by Mr. Paramesh M from I B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization) expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers.

The event featured presentations and demonstrations of student-developed games, where participants exhibited originality, technical proficiency, and design thinking. The session encouraged interaction, discussion, and knowledge sharing among students. The event was well-organized and received positive feedback from the participants. Overall, “Battle of Games: Student Showcase” was a successful initiative that enhanced students’ confidence, practical exposure, and presentation skills.

VISM NOVA 2K25 – A New Star in Culinary Competitions

Marine Catering and Hotel Management students actively participated in VISM NOVA 2K25 – A New Star in Culinary, an intercollegiate hospitality event organized by the Department of Hotel Management, Vasthraa Institute of Science & Management, Sivakasi, on 17.12.2025. A total of 23 students competed in various competitions such as cooking, towel art, cocktail and mocktail making, and paper presentation. The students demonstrated exceptional skills, creativity, and teamwork throughout the event. Mr. C. Pradeep, a second-year student, won the First Prize in Carving. . This achievement not only motivated and encouraged the students but also made it a memorable experience..

 

VALUE ADDED COURSE – ETHICS IN BANKING AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

The Department of Commerce (B&I) successfully conducted a six-day Value-Added Course on Ethics in Banking and Financial Institutions for I B.Com (B&I) students from October 23 to 29, 2025. The sessions were facilitated by Mrs. V. Padmavathy, Assistant Professor of Commerce, and Mr. N. Arunkumar, Assistant Professor of Commerce, B.Com (Banking and Insurance), Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. The resource persons provided intensive training on ethical practices and professional responsibilities within the banking and financial services sector.

Outcome of the Program

The key outcomes of the “Ethics in Banking and Financial Institutions” course are as follows:

  • Students developed professional judgment, ethical competence, and an understanding of responsible financial practices.
  • They learned to apply various ethical theories and decision-making models to analyze real-world banking scenarios.
  • Students gained knowledge of core ethical principles such as integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, professional competence, and fairness—essential qualities for ethical conduct in the financial sector.
  • The program enabled students to identify and critically evaluate complex ethical dilemmas commonly encountered in the workplace (e.g., conflicts of interest, mis-selling of financial products, data privacy issues, and money laundering).
  • Students learned to use structured decision-making processes to resolve ethical challenges while considering the consequences of their decisions on various stakeholders, including customers, colleagues, regulators, and society.
  • The course aimed to instill a strong sense of professional integrity, encouraging students to act honestly and responsibly and to avoid actions that could harm clients or discredit the profession.
  • Students developed an appreciation for the broader societal and environmental impact of financial decisions, including the importance of integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into banking and investment practices.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO GAINUP TECHNOTEK LIMITED, DINDIGUL

The Department of Commerce (B.Com – Banking and Insurance) organized an industrial visit to Gainup Technotek Limited, Dindigul, on October 25, 2025. A total of 62 students from II Year B.Com (B&I), accompanied by Mr. P. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of English, and Mrs. R. Nithya Kalyani, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce (B&I), participated in the visit. During the industrial visit, the students were briefed on the company’s historical background, organizational structure, and the functions of its various departments. They also had the opportunity to observe the textile manufacturing process first hand. In conclusion, the industrial visit proved to be highly beneficial, providing students with valuable practical exposure to real-world commerce and industrial operations.

CUENTAS ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY

The Department of Commerce (Banking & Insurance), in collaboration with the Cuentas Association, organized a beneficial session on October 11, 2025. The event was held in the Seminar Hall from 12:40 PM to 1:30 PM. The session was graced by the presence of Dr. Abraham Pradeepfrom RLIM, who served as the resource person. During the program, Dr. Pradeep shared his extensive knowledge and experience related to the Indian Institute of Banking and Insurance and Retail Banking, emphasizing the importance of aligning academic pursuits with industry demands. The event brought together first- and second-year students, benefiting a total of 89 participants.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO DINAMALAR PAPER FACTORY, MADURAI

The Department of Commerce, B.Com (Banking and Insurance), organized a one-day industrial visit to the Dinamalar Paper Factory, Madurai, on October 10, 2025, for the first-year B.Com (B&I) students.The visit provided students with valuable awareness of various printing processes and news-printing technologies. They also learned about the types of ink used in newspapers and received instructions on the software applications utilized in the printing process.The students were accompanied by Mrs. R. Nithya Kalyani and Dr. A. Devi, Assistant Professors of B.Com (B&I). A total of 42 students benefited from this industrial visit.

VALUE ADDED COURSE – SOFT SKILLS

The Department of Commerce (B&I) successfully conducted a six-day Value-Added Course on Soft Skills for III B.Com (B&I) students from October 06 to 11, 2025.

The sessions were facilitated by Dr. S. Venkatesh, Associate Professor of English, The Madura College, Madurai, and Mr. P. Venkatachalam, National Institute, Madurai. The expert trainers provided intensive training on Spoken English, Personality Development, Aptitude, and Reasoning Skills. The program was designed to enhance students’ communication abilities, self-confidence, logical reasoning skills, and overall personality development—skills essential for their academic growth and future career prospects.

The objectives of the program were:

  • To improve fluency and proficiency in Spoken English.
  • To develop effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • To build confidence, leadership qualities, and positive body language.
  • To provide training in aptitude and reasoning skills for competitive exams and placements.
  • To prepare students for interviews and group discussions.

The sessions were conducted through interactive lectures, group activities, and practice-based learning by experienced resource persons. Major topics covered included:

  • Spoken English practice (Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Sentence Formation)
  • Personality Development (Self-introduction, Goal Setting, Time Management)
  • Aptitude Skills (Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Problem Solving)
  • Logical and Verbal Reasoning Practice
  • Mock Interviews and Group Discussions

Outcome of the Program

Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization) actively participated in the event. The program was conducted with the objective of creating a competitive and engaging platform for students to showcase their gaming and game design skills, while enhancing strategic thinking and teamwork.

The session commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Mr. Hariraam T from II B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization), setting a positive tone for the program. The event was smoothly hosted by Mr. Rajkumar R from II B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization), who efficiently coordinated the flow of activities. The program concluded with a vote of thanks (valedictory address) given by Mr. Paramesh M from I B.Sc. Animation (Game Design and Development Specialization) expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers.

Internship Guidance Meeting On 17.11.2025

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management conducted an Internship Guidance Meeting on 17.11.2025 for third-year students. Mr. C. Suresh Kumar, Head of the Department, briefed students and parents on internship guidelines, responsibilities, and required documents. A total of 33 students attended, including 14 students selected for Mauritius and 13 for Singapore internships. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, delivered the presidential address and Dr. T. Gurubasker, Vice Principal, along with Dr. S. Priya, Dean–Academics, felicitated the gathering. The meeting helped students and parents clearly understand their roles and expectations for the internship program.

FILM SCREENING – 29.11.2025

The Medius Coronet Association of the School of Animation and Media Studies organised an “film screening” session of the Animation film “K-Pop and the Demon Hunters” on 29.11.2025 from 12.40 PM to 1.30 PM for the students of First and Second year of B.Sc. Animation (Visual Effects and Film production Specialization) and Final year students of B.Sc. Visual Communication (Film and Television Production Specialization) at Animation Academic Lab – 2 (S47). Mr.S.Naveen Kumar, Assistant Professor, School of Animation and Media Studies decode the movie and help the students to do analysis.

The film follows a globally famous K-pop girl group who secretly live double lives not just as pop idols, but as elite demon hunters. While they perform sold-out concerts and maintain their glamorous public image, they also protect the world from hidden supernatural threats.

Their biggest challenge comes when they face a rival force: a mysterious boy band made up of demons in disguise. These enemies use music, charm, and fame to manipulate fans and gain power, setting up a clash between the two groups.

KPop Demon Hunters’s desire for education and play, and his journey to escape his bonded labor. It also encourages critical thinking about societal issues by showcasing how cultural differences and awareness can challenge dominant narratives of oppression.
