CAREER COUNSELLING ON “JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN IT INDUSTRY”

On behalf of Department of CS & IT Career Guidance programme have been organized on 12.10.2018 for III B.Sc CS and III B.Sc IT students at Seminar Hall. The resource person of this session Mr.P.R.Karthikeyan, Managing Director, Elintsys Technologies India Private Limited, Salem shared his own industry experience and the various job opportunities in IT industry.

 Mr. Mr.P.R.Karthikeyan encouraged students to have a creative idea to excel in IT industry. He shared the importance of programming skill in IT industry. Also he shared the job opportunities available in IT industry in various domains. The session was an eye opening to the students those who waiting for placement.

Value Added Course – Python Programming

The Department of Computer Science and IT conducted a value added course on Python Programming for III year students of CS & IT from 03.10.2018 to 12.10.2018.

Mr.Naga Kumar, COE, Metrolab, Hyderabad was trainer. The students were trained with the basics of python programming. The scenario based exercises were given by the trainer, which was helpful for the students to appear for Microsoft International Certification in Python Programming.

On 12.10.2018, the students attended Certification examination through online and awaiting for the result.

Course Committee Meeting

Dept of MC&HM has conducted course committee meeting on 17.10.2018 at 10.00 a.m. for the students of I year, II Year and III year especially for Advanced Learners & Slow learners.

Following points we were discussed in this meeting:

  1. Points discussed on Students deficiencies related to course with remedial actions
  2. Current syllabus
  3. Lesson Plan and Subject Coverage.
  4. Teaching methodology
  5. Department Activity
  6. Internship
  7. Placement

1.Students Academic Achievements:

While discussing the Academic Achievements, the students of third year explained that they were satisfied with the practicals and theory. Staff members were illustrated clearly and have given important questions to study to score good marks.

A remedial class was organized for the slow learners in Food Safety & Nutrition subjects and important questions with answers have given and to secure good marks.

  1. The student members were satisfied with the current syllabus.
  2. They were comfortable with the present teaching methodology.
  3. Planned to conduct more Department activity in the next semester and also for conducting value added courses.
  4. Internship : All 53 students have got selected in various star hotels in and around India. Student members were stated, they were very much satisfied in internship.
  5. Placement: Planning to get place more students in Fleet Management, Mumbai. Planning for Placement Campus Drive in the month of March 2019 last week.

French Cuisine

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management have organized French cuisine workshop for Lady Doak College (French department) – Madurai on 04.10.2017 at 9.30 a.m. Around 66 students & 2 faculty members from department of French have participated in the workshop. We have invited Chef . Nethaji Dasarathan , Food and beverage Director , Royal Caribbean Curise Lines , USA . Dr.P. Saravanan, Principal, SLCS. Mr. C.Sureshkumar, Head of the department gave the welcome address. The chief guest and inaugurated the function. Chef. Nethaji Dasarathan describes the origin of the French cuisine and its importance. Chief Guest demonstrated four delicious dishes and the student participants also actively participated in preparation work and they prepared two dishes to share with us. The day was wonderful for them and they gained good knowledge and got benefitted and we provided participants certificates for them and the workshop session was completed at 3.00 p.m.

The resource person of this session Mr.Nagakumar, Managing Director, Metro Labs, Hyderabad shared his own industry experience and the various job opportunities in IT industry.

 Mr.Nagakumar encouraged students to have a creative idea to excel in IT industry. He shared the importance of Python in the development of Web application and cloud based applications. Also he shared the job opportunities available in IT industry in the domain of Python. The session was an eye opening to the students those who waiting for placement.

“EXPORT DOCUMENTATION” – Workshop

ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai had organized a One day workshop on “Export Documentation”. Mr.G.Rajamurthy, Director, Global School of Foreign Trade was invited as the resource person. Ms.M.Rohini, II BBA delivered the welcome address. The resource person highlighted the various documentation procedures regarding exporting. The ease of documentation was also explained. Dr.K.Rajesh Kumar, HOD – BBA delivered the vote of thanks. The program was successfully organized by the student office bearers of ZEAL, BBA Association. Totally 58 students got benefited through this program.

RADIO TALK ON NUTRITION

As a part of the nutrition week celebrations, the students of I B.Sc, Food Science and Processing Management, performed short skit presentations on different topics related to health and disease of women and children. Programs were presented in the local language centered on the role of nutrients namely calcium and iron in the diet and the importance of breast feeding. The topics were chosen based on the current scenario of poor calcium and iron status among women and young children and the need to create awareness on the importance of breast feeding in the society. The presentations were lively and informative emphasizing on the role of nutrients, their requirements and deficiency disorders. The third skit highlighted the importance of feeding colostrum to new born infants and the benefits of mother’s milk over bottle feed.

WORLD TOURISM DAY 2018 – SEMINAR

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized a seminar on world tourism and its digital transformation conducted on 27/09/2018 in the seminar Hall.

The outcomes of this seminar is a unique opportunity to raise awareness among the students on the potential contribution of digital technologies to sustainable tourism developments while providing a platform for investment , partnership towards a more responsibility and inclusive tourism technologies.

WORLD TOURISM DAY – RALLY

The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management students has participated in swatcch bharath awareness rally is held on 27.09.2018 for World Tourism Day- 2018 organized by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (Madurai chamber) . More than 40       MC&HM  students took part in this programme. Carrying placard and banners, and the participants distributed pamphlets to passers by Swatcch Bharath mission initiatives
