Equitas Bank conducted a Campus Placement drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 06.02.2020. Panel members from Equitas Bank tested the potential of 25 students, who participated in the recruitment. The selection process consisted of Aptitude Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The recruiters were happy and satisfied with the performance of the students. 12 students were selected.
The Department of Animation inaugurated the Art & Media Club on 03.02.2020 (Monday) at Seminar Hall. The program started with a prayer song. Mr.Gokulram of II year Animation welcomed the gathering. The special address was given by Mr.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator, Department of Animation who gave a wonderful lecture about the Art and its history. Mr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Animation Department delivered a fabulous talk on the Importance of Communication and also spoke about the various incidents of foreign countries wherein their eminent artists and sculptures made their country proud. Ms. Hema of II year Food Science and Processing Management proposed the vote of thanks. The program ended with the National Anthem.
ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a seminar on “Digital Marketing” on 03.02.2020. Ms.Shamila Ramachandran, Strategic Marketing Trainer & Consultant from Malaysia was invited as the resource person. The resource person highlighted the basics of digital marketing along with the strategies to be adopted to be a successful digital marketer. Various means of promoting entrepreneurial activities thorough digital marketing were also explained. The resource person also inaugurated the Research Club of the college. Totally 72 students got benefited through this program.
The Department of Computer Science (SSS) organized an Industrial Visit for all the I,II and III year students for 3 days ( 31.01.2020 – 02.02.2020) to Ozone Cyber Security , Cochin. Since the Computer Science Programme is based on Security Specialization this visit was planned. Students were very enthusiastic to learn about hacking and security measures in the IT Industry. Mr.Akhil , Security Engineer of Ozone Cyber Security conducted a informative session by explaining the server configuration and it’s importance. He also explained their current projects to whom (Clients) they are working for. Students of II and III years interacted with him and gained knowledge on Cyber security domain based job opportunities. Totally 96 students got benefited through this program.
The 25th Sports Day of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science was conducted on 01.02.2020. Dr.P.V.Shelvam , Professor & Director, Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Annamalai University was the Chief Guest . The Program started with the Flag hoisting . Our National Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest , followed by the Olympic Flag and College Flag hoisted by Dr.S.Priya , Dean – Academics and Principal Dr.B.Ramamoorthy, respectively. Dr.R.L.Ramnath , NAAC – Advisor and all the Faculty members of SLCS participated.
The students of SLCS and RLIMS performed many sport events such as Pyramid, Yoga, Umbrella Dance, etc. They also exposed their talent in traditional games such as Pambaram, Kolli Kundu, Pacha Kuthirai etc which strengthen the mind and body.
Mr.P.Thangamuthu , Physical Director read out the Annual Sports report. The Principal of the College, Dr.B.Ramamoorthy, in his presidential address highlighted the importance of sports and physical activities. Dr.S.Priya, Dean – Academics delivered the felicitation address. Dr.P.V.Shelvam, in his special address urged the students to concentrate both in studies and in sports and also explained the job opportunities available through Sports Quota in Government. Prizes were distributed by the chief guest. The Sparklers team of SLCS won the Overall winner shield. The Program ended with National Anthem.
A few second year students of Marine Catering and Hotel Management participated in an Intercollegiate Competition conducted by Mary Matha College of Arts and Science, Theni, on 31.1.2020. Fourteen students from the second year actively participated in various competitions like Vegetable and Fruit Carving, Mocktails ,Cocktails, Hot and Spices cooking. Our students,Mr. Khandagare Swapnil Chandrakant and Mr.Rawade Bhushan Sudhir, won the second prize in the Carving competition. This motivated and encouraged the students and also made it a memorable experience.
The Department of Animation commemorated the Memorial Day of Mahatma Gandhi on 30.01.2020 (Thursday) at the Seminar Hall. The program started with a prayer song. Ms.Subhiksha of II year Animation welcomed the gathering. The special address was given by Dr. S.Priya, Dean-Academics who quoted a few incidents of Mahatma Gandhi that made him the Father of our Nation. Ms I. Swetha from I Year Animation delivered a wonderful speech on the life of our National Leader and Independence movement. Mr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Animation Department delivered a fabulous talk on World Wars and also of Ahimsha’s power, which made our country free from the British. Finally Ms. B. Swetha of I year Animation proposed the vote of thanks. The program ended with the National Anthem.
The South Indian Chef Association organized a National workshop on “Finer Arts in Garde Manger” for two days (30.1.2020 & 31.1.2020) at Oriental College of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts, Vythiri,Wayand,Kerala. Second year students, Mr.NaneenBalaji.S, Mr.Hariharan.K, Mr.Gogula Krishnan.R and faculty, Mr.E.Jacob Jebarai participated in the workshop. Chef Mark Crocker was invited as the chief guest, who not only spoke about the topic but also advised the students. Students made the event excellent by show casing their outstanding talent. This workshop gave a lot of motivation and encouragement to the students, who had a memorable experience.
On behalf of the Departments of CS & Networking, a Seminar was organized on 29th, January 2020 for the II B.Sc CS (SSS) & II B.Sc Networking students at the Seminar Hall on the topic “Cyber Security”. A.Aarthi, II B.Sc Networking welcomed the gathering. Mrs.N.Anuradha, HoD, Dept. of CS, delivered special address. Mr.M.Athi Gopal, HoD, Dept. of Networking delivered the felicitation address and introduced the Chief Guest Mr.Sajindas, Operations Manager, G-TECH EDUCATION, Madurai.
The Chief Guest delivered the key note address on Cyber Security. He shared the job opportunities available in cyber security in the IT industry and public sectors. A.Shalini, II .B.Sc CS (SSS) delivered the vote of thanks. Totally 58 students got benefited through this program.
The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety has organized an extension activity at Fatima College on 29/01/2020. Our Department HOD and II year Students have presented the PPT, delivered the speech about Basic Fire Safety and Domestic Safety and gives a demonstrate how to operate the Fire Extinguishers while emergency time to the students, teachers and non-teaching staffs.
We have conducted the program in terms of the strategies they wanted to adopt and to create awareness on the day – to – day activities related to Safety issues. Our program was successful in creating awareness to the students and staffs on Basic Fire Safety and Domestic Safety as well as we received a very good appreciation feedback from them.
Totally 24 students got benefited through this program.
