Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy college of Science, celebrated the birthday of “Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi”. Dr. M. Tharani, Coordinator of WEC welcomed the gathering. Dr.B. Ramamoorty, the Principal along with Dr.R. L. Ramnath, NAAC Advisor felicitated the celebration. Students enthusiastically delivered speeches and verses about the legendry poet. A debate was conducted on “Pudhumai Pengal” and students energetically voiced their views on women’s position from ancient times till today.

KRISHNAMAL RAMASUBBRAIYER SCHOOL (KRS) FACULTY ENRICHMENT TRAINING PROGRAM

The department of Computer Science conducted a Faculty Enrichment Training Program on “Computer Operations” for all the Teaching Staff  of KRISHNAMAL RAMASUBBRAIYER SCHOOL (KRS) from 10.02.2021 to 19.02.2021, for a period of 3 hours from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM. A total of 40 members participated in this program. They were divided into two batches. The training was given from 10.02.2021 to 13.02.2021 for the first batch at Academic Lab-I and from 15.02.2021 to 19.02.2021 for the second batch at KRS IT Lab.

On 10.02.2021, the session started with a prayer. The welcome address was given by Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department, CS. The presidential address was delivered by Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal, and SLCS. She emphasized the importance of  hands-on training in computer operations. The felicitation address was presented by Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics, SLCS, who motivated them to engage themselves as students and clarify their doubts during the training.

Hands-on training was given by the faculty members of CS [SSS] to the school teachers on the following topics:

One Day Camp at SLCS

National Service Scheme of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized one day camp for its NSS Volunteers on 09th February 2021. Due to the COVID Pandemic, 15 volunteers alone were allowed to voluntarily participate in the camp. In this camp, the volunteers watered the saplings in the college area. The NSS Program Officer Mr.R.Dhamotharan properly arranged this camp with all safety measures against COVID 19.

Webinar on “Marketing of Financial Products and Services”

A webinar on “Marketing of Financial Products and Services” was organized on 06th February 2021, from 11.00 am onwards. The program was organized by “Lakshya” the MBA department association of MBA department. The Key Speakers were Mr Patrick Mathew, Branch Head, Aditya Birla Capita, Madurai | Mr Pratik Sengupta, Director, 3Q Capital, Mumbai.48 MBA students benefited out of this program. The program enlightens the student attitude towards marketing of financial products and services. The students were able to know about  the nuggets of selling the financial products to different types of clients.

 

Sapling Planting Ceremony

Sapling planting ceremony was enthusiastically celebrated on 04-02-2021 on behalf of National Service Scheme of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. 60 Saplings were planted to preserve nature. This was promptly done by the chief founder of the college; Dr. R. L. Lakshmipathy who eagerly launched them. The event was graced by the Principal of the College, the Dean of Academics and the administrator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell. Also Mr. R.Dhamotharan, NSS Program Officer and 47 NSS volunteers attended and planted the saplings.

32nd Road Safety Training Programme

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety, NRP Safety Solutions & the Rotary Club of Madurai Central jointly organized a Road Safety Training programme at Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science on 29.1.2021 for the benefit of teaching and non teaching staff at SLCS members, as part of the 32nd Road Safety Month.

Mr.P.Navaneetha Krishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Fire and Industrial Safety welcomed the Guest Speaker, Mr.Vanthe Matharam Madhavan to conduct the Training programme. The Guest Speaker explained   Road Safety rules and regulations and shared video footages of various types of road accidents. He instructed Safe driving techniques for two wheelers and four wheelers. Mr. R Prabhu, Director & Lead Safety Consultant, NRP Industrial Safety Equipments & Services and Rtn. Ashok (President – Rotary Club of Madurai Central) thanked the college management and appreciated Mr. Vanthe Matharam Madhavan for  his wonderful lecture about Road Safety. Mr. V.Dhamotharan, Assistant Professor, Department of Fire and Industrial Safety proposed the vote of thanks.

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM ON JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN MOBILE APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

The Department of CS & Career Counselling cell jointly organized a Career Guidance program  on “Job Opportunities in Mobile Application Development” on 27.1.2021 for the III year students through Google Meet. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head, Dept. of CS introduced the Chief Guest, Mr.Nagakumar, Managing Director of Devspark Solutions, Hyderabad. The Resource person of this session shared his industry experience and the current technical requirements needed for Mobile app Development in IT industry. He encouraged the students to develop skills in mobile application development and also he clarified all the queries raised by the students. This session was very useful for the students. Around 58 students were participated in this event.

Out Door Catering (ODC) at Regency Madurai by GRT Hotels

Three II year students from the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management were given an opportunity at Regency Madurai by GRT Hotels to be part of outdoor catering (ODC) on 21.1.2021 and 25.1.2021.  They were able to gather knowledge about outlet operation procedures, Mise en Place work and many modern techniques. This opportunity motivated and gave hands- on practice to the students.

Celebration of Parakram Diwas in Shyamalavani

The 125th Birth Anniversary of the iconic freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, known as the Parakram Diwas was celebrated on January 23,2021 through an oral address by Dr.S.Priya ,Dean Academics of SLCS to Shyamalavani 90.4 FM Community Radio.

The spirit of patriotic fervor along with hope, sacrifice, leadership and good charisma was highlighted from the life of Subhas Chandra Bose was stressed to be possessed by the youth of today. The speaker said that we should live a meaningful life and quoted the message from Chandra Boses book ‘Dreams of Youth’ that “We have come to this world, full of joy and with the fullness of our hearts, to establish a truth. And that is to discover the unknown and mystical purpose of life, through contemplation and a life of action, which only can make our otherwise senseless existence, meaningful.”

She also said that the youth of the village must act with fortitude in the face of adversity, build character, participate in healthy activity selflessly and must not be contemplated with any particular caste or religion. The speech ended with the salutation and slogan ‘Jai Hind’. Totally 2 faculty members participated and the Community people around 5 kms got benefitted from the program.
