INTERNET CLUB- GENERAL QUIZ COMPETITION

                     The members of Internet Club conducted the competition “General Quiz” on 22.03.2021 in Academic Lab. All I, II and III year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

                   Totally 48 students participated in this event. Two students participated per team. This event helped the students to perceive knowledge in different areas. The event included three rounds. Finally three teams had been shortlisted for awarding prizes. It was really an entertaining and informative event for the participants.

Awareness Programme on COVID Vaccination

National Service Scheme and Youth Red Cross of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science properly conducted “an awareness on the potential benefits of COVID Vaccination” on 22-03-2021 at Auditorium from 3.20 to 4.30 p.m. Dr.R.Sujatha, Principal inaugurated the programme. The key address was delivered by Mr.Thanga Samy, Block Health Supervisor, Tiruparankundram Block. He clarified the reasonable doubts of key participants intimately related to effective COVID vaccination. In this extensive programme, 147 faculty and key staff members undoubtedly benefited. This extensive programme was arranged successfully by the NSS Program Officer Mr.R.Dhamotharan.

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

The Department of Visual Communication students participated in a PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP on 22.03.2021. A total number of 20 students participated in this event.  The inaugural session started at 10.30am. Mr. Selvam Adhavan and Mr. Arun Chief Guest of the day gave a lecture on camera equipment. Mr. Thamen Ansar delivered a key note address. Mr. Praveen proposed the vote of thanks and the function ended with the National Anthem.

“The Retro cameras and Flash and Natural Light” is the topic for the session, Mr. Selvam Adhavan gave a wonderful lecture on Retro cameras and Mr. Arun gave a hands on Practice to the camera lightings and camera composition. The session was very useful to the students. The students enthusiastically participated in this event and asked technical oriented questions to the professional; finally the program was a grand success.

Guest Lecture on “Ideal Approach to NAAC A&A Process”

The IQAC of SLCS organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Ideal Approach to NAAC A&A Process” on 20.03.2021 in the College premises. The Principal of SLCS, Dr.R.Sujatha welcomed the Guest and the faculty members. IQAC Coordinator,Dr.R.Parthiban projected the NAAC Status of SLCS to the Guest. IQAC Assistant-Coordinator cum Assistant Professor of English,Mrs.R.SuganthiHepzibha introduced the eminent Chief Guest,Capt.Dr.N.ArunNagendran, IQAC Coordinator cum Associate Professor of Zoology, Thiagarajar College (Autonomous), Madurai, Re-Accredited with A++ Grade by NAAC.

The Resource person shared his experiences about their college’s SSR Preparation and the visit of NAAC Peer team.He also expounded about the nuances in collecting data and evidence. The Heads of the Departments and Criteria In-charges attended the interactive session.Many doubts regarding seven Criteria were raised, which was clearly clarified by the Resource person. He also gave a few suggestions, which will be taken into account in future endeavors.All members were enlightened through the informative session.

Cultural Heritage of India

Cultural Heritage of India was introduced as an extra credit course in the academic year 2020-21 for the 2019-22 batch students. It was resourced by DHAN Foundation, a leading National Professional NGO, who handled the session for 15 hours. It was conducted on 13th February,27th February ,6th,13th  & 20th  of March 2021.The objective of the course is to make the students explore native aspects of knowledge and not only harmonies their way of life but also bring about Moral and Material development of India. It is also aimed to also infuse interest in the students to understand native literature, religion, philosophy and cultural heritage. A total number of 387 students participated and benefitted with a certificate of completion. An extra credit of one is awarded to students who fulfill the criteria of attendance, assignments and online test at the end of the Programme. The feedback was collected at the end of the programme.

 

TECHIE QUEST CLUB-TREASURE HUNT COMPETITION

The members of Techie Quest Club conducted an Intra college competition of “Treasure Hunt” on 20.03.2021 at 3.00 pm at F40 Hall. All the I year and II year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator Mrs.J.Varalakshmi,Asst.Prof. of CS, welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

Totally 123 members participated in this event. The participants were divided into two batches. This event was conducted separately for each batch. This event had 6 clues and the given time was 30 minutes. The participants who had found out the final clue in short time was declared as the winners. Finally three participants were selected as prize winners. It was really an entertaining and energetic event for the participants.

TECHIE QUEST CLUB-DUMB CHARADES COMPETITION

The members of Techie Quest Club organized an Intra College competition of “Dumb Charades” on 20.03.2021 at 2.00 PM in F32 Hall. All the I year and II year students from various departments participated in this event. The club coordinator Mrs.J.Varalakshmi,Asst.Prof. of CS  welcomed the participants and announced the rules and regulations of this event.

                   Totally 60 students participated in this event. Two students have participated per team. This event had three rounds consisting of technical round, general round and National Leader round. Finally three teams had been shortlisted for awarding prizes. It was really an entertaining event not only for the participants but to everyone present there.

WORKSHOP ON “ANITALK ON TEXTURING”

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a one day Workshop on “Anitalk on Texturing” on 20.03.2021 between 02.30 P.M. – 05.00 P.M. at Animation Lab-III. Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor, introduced the resource person, Mr. Krishna Babu, Texturing Supervisor, Bangalore. The key objectives of this workshop was to enlighten the students about the knowledge of Texturing and its importance, wrapping up the UV in 3D Model, Process of Painting, and essential software required in the industry. He also explained the pipeline of the texturing process and showed some examples to the students.

The Students showed their involvement towards the session by raising queries which were clarified by the resource person. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms.I.Swetha of II year Animation. The Department Faculty members Mr.M.Purushothaman, Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim and Mr.N.Naveendra Kumar made all the arrangements for this workshop. 45 students benefitted through this workshop.

MENTOR MEETING REPORT

On behalf of the department of CS, the fourth Mentor Meeting for the Even semester 2020 – 21 was conducted on 19.03.2021 between 3.00 PM and 3.50 PM in the class room S50, Academic Labs and in the shade of trees. All mentors of the department met their mentees separately. Students spoke about their talents and areas of interests to their mentors. They shared their grievances and personal problems. Students, also, gave their feedback about college life.

The Minutes of the Course Committee Meeting

The Department of Computer Science conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 19-03-2021 at 11.15 AM to get the students’ opinion and grievances, if any, regarding academics, before the Internal Test-I. In this meeting, wherein 18 students and 4 faculty members participated, the syllabus coverage and comprehension of each course were discussed. Only the first year students participated in this meet due to social distancing. Students gave valuable feedback and were assured that their inconveniences will be taken care of and academic standards maintained through Management decisions.
