VALUE ADDED COURSE ON “PREPARATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS”

The Department of Commerce (Honours) ACCA of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organizes a value-added course on “Preparation of Financial Statements” on all Saturdays from 28.08.2021 to 11.12.2021. The course is resourced by Dr. K.Archunan, Vice Principal, SLCS. A lecture was delivered on applying accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities, including analysis and interprets financial statements. All III Year ACCA students participated in this course.

Webinar on “Research Methodology”

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Department of Animation & Research Cell of SLCS jointly organized a webinar on “Research Methodology” in association with IQAC on 27.08.2021 (Friday) between 02.30PM and 03.30PM through the Google Meet. The programme started with a prayer song and the welcome address was delivered by Ms.I.Swethaof III year Animation. Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professorwelcomed the gatherings and delivered the felicitation address. Dr.K.Rajesh Kumar,Head of the Department, BBA-SLCS was the resource person. The webinar covered the techniques from identifying research problems till writing a research Paper. The students were given an in-depth knowledge about the pipeline of the research, objectives of research, formats etc. He explained the concepts with the real life example which make the students understand very easily. The students interacted with the resource person and got cleared their doubts. Totally 60 students were benefitted through this programme. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.Saravanan, Assistant Professor, Department of Animation.

Webinar on “Cold Cuts “

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management conducted a Webinar, under the title “Cold Cuts and its presentations” on 27.8.2021 for the students (50) of third years. Mr.C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering. Chef Ramu Butler ,   Chef cum Restaurateur “B at Bay” Kochi was the resource person for this programme. Chef Ramu Butler emphasized the importance of Larder department in five star hotel kitchens, Cruise liner and its function and way of storage of all perishable foods both raw and cooked. He also explained very famous dishes prepared in cold kitchen like Aspic, Mouses, cold soup, salad etc. In recent years, the demands for ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products have been surging, owing to factors such as changing lifestyles. This webinar motivated and encouraged the students to understand the cold cuts besides it made a memorable experience for all the participants.

Webinar on “Cyber Forensics”

The Department of Computer Science (SSS) organized a “Webinar on Cyber Forensics” for III year students on 26-08-2021 through Google Meet. The programme started with the welcome address delivered by Ms.Deepthi of III B.Sc CS(SSS). Mr.S.Vivek, CEO, Ozone Cyber Security,Trichy was introduced in the special address delivered by Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department,CS(SSS). Mrs.V.Gayathri, AP,CS(SSS) gave a felicitation address and explained the purpose of organizing Cyber Forensics webinar.

Mr.S.Vivek, the resource person, explained the role of cyber security in Cyber Forensics domain and shared his knowledge about Cyber Forensics in real time. He further emphasised on the coordination of cyber investiagtor and the law enforcement team, various proprietory tools in cyber forensics domain.Finally the session ended with vote of thanks rendered by Mr.Pranava Kumar of III B.Sc CS(SSS).

Totally 41 students got benefited through this program.

Webinar on “Cryptography and Network Security using Java”

On 25th August, 2021, the Technofest Association, Department of Computer Science (Security System Specialization) organized a webinar on “Cryptography and Network Security using java” for II year students (Batch: 2020 – 23) through google meet. Mr. N. Aashiq Ahamed, Cyber Security Analyst, Ozone Cyber Security was the resource person. The entire session was compered by Ms. A. Subhashini, and Mr. Bala Ganesh of II CS(SSS). The keynote address was given by Mrs. N. Anuradha, Head of the Department. The felicitation address was delivered by Mrs.K. P.Maheswari Assistant Professor. The special address was given by Mrs. S. Nirmala Devi, Assistant Professor. The resource person explained the importance of learning cryptography and its implementation through java programming. He also demonstrated cryptographic functionality through online tools. He explained job opportunities in cryptography by sharing his experience as a Cyber Security Analyst. Totally 51 studentsparticipated in the webinar and they made the event interactive and got all the doubts clarified.  Finally vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. S. Jeyaraman of II CS(SSS).

Webinar on Business accounting and Taxation

The Department of Commerce organized a “Webinar on Business Accounting and Taxation”    for III year students on 23-08-2021. The programme started with the welcome address rendered by Mrs. V.Padmavathy, Head of the Department.  Mrs.S.Praveena, HR Manager, Synergy B-School, Madurai was the resource person. She addressed the students through google meet. In her lecture she elucidated upon the significane of Business Accounting and Taxation.She offered career counseling to the students by informing the current scenario,  duties and responsibilities of accounting professionals and also mentioned the job portals available. Around 50 students participated and got benefited through this online session.

Recruitment Process in Accenture Pvt Ltd Company

On 20.08.2021, Alumnus of Computer Science Department,Mr.K.G.Harshan,(Batch: 2012 – 2015) Recruiting Analyst, Accenture PvtLtd, Chennai interacted with thestudents of II&III B.ScCS (SSS), through Google Meet.He shared his industry experience with the students. He advised the students to prepare for the interview during the college days itself. He explained the need of current IT industry and procedure for attending the interview. He also shared his views on the recruitment process in Accenture. Overall 94 students benefitted through this interactive session. The students clarified their queries during the interactive session.

WEBINAR ON “WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY”

World Humanitarian day is held every year to pay tribute aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian lives. The Department of Languages in association with IQAC celebrated World Humanitarian Day through a webinar on 19th August, 2021 at 11.30pm in Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science. The program was conducted through online mode. Mrs. S. Neela, Assistant Professor of Hindi, SLCS was the resource person. She delivered the speech on the topic “Respect Humans and Save Humanity”. In her speech, she insisted to cultivate the habit of helping tendency and count their deeds that benefited others every day. She also reiterated that the qualities like compassion, love, and patience should be sown in everyone’s heart to spread humanity and to make the world a better to live in. Towards the end of the session, students were benefited through her inspirational speech.  Totally 67 students attended the session and a feedback link was sent to receive their responses.

WEBINAR ON “WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY”

The Medius Coronet Association of Visual Communication department conducted a webinar on “World Photography Day” for the students on 19.08.2021. Totally 45 students (I B.Sc-11, II B.Sc-14, III B.Sc-16, I M.Sc-1, II M.Sc-3) participated in this event.  Mr. Babu Shajan Kevin, Head Incharge, Department of Visual Communication, inaugurated the session at 11.00 am and spoke about the College and the Department. Mr. C. J. Rajkumar, Chief Guest of the day gave lectures on camera and the job opportunities available. Ms. Susmitha from II B.Sc Visual Communication proposed the vote of thanks and the event concluded with the National Anthem.

Mr. C. J. Rajkumar gave an elaborate lecture about the camera industry and on the new technology. The students enthusiastically participated by raising many queries regarding photography.

Association Inaugural Function

Marine Catering and Hotel Management Department organized the “Hospitality Education Network (HEN) Association” inaugural function on August 19, 2021. The inaugural function started with a welcome speech by Mr.R.Ganesh, Instructor, Department of MC&HM. Mr.C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the department delivered key note address. He spoke about the importance of Hospitality Education Network Association and said it that involved in the planning and integration of student technical activities. It promotes a sense of group responsibility and plays the critical role of student representation for preparing themselves to the Hospitality Industry. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by the new student association President-Mr.Dharun Perumal.K, III Year MC&HM.
