In commemoration of World Food Day on October 16th2024, the Department of Food Science and Processing Management has conducted Interdepartmental competitions on 16.10.2024in our college.World Food Day2024 was celebrated with the theme “Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future”.The program was inaugurated by Dr. R. Sujatha, the principal of SLCS, Madurai, who discussed the importance of knowing whether the food is in good quality or not and the presidential address was delivered by Dr. T. Guru Baskar, vice principal of SLCS, Madurai, who addressed the problem of hunger and the food wastage.

Students from other departments have participated in various events including Food Photography, Regard before you Discard and Poster Contest. Students, Mr. Navin Prasath (24124), Mr.S.Vsanthan (24136), Mr.M.K.Rameshwaran (24131) of I Marine Catering and Hotel Management department secured the First, Second and Third Place in Food Photography competition.Ms.G.Lakshmi Priya (23701) and Ms.S.Vimala (23702) of II M.Sc., Visual Communication department secured the First Place, Mr.D.Deepan Kumar (23061) and Mr.S.Vasu (23068) of II Fire and Industrial Safety department secured the Second Place, Mr. E.PranavPraghadeeswaar (24455) and Mr.V.V.K.Mithun(24449) of I B.Com Banking and Insurance department secured the Third Place in Regard before you Discard competition. Ms.K.Jeevitha (244408) of I Honours department secured the First Place, Ms.S.Raksha (24211) of I Computer science department secured the Second Place, Ms.Thilagavathi (244422) of Honours department secured the Third Place in Poster Contest Competition. The valedictory session featured a speech by Dr. S. Priya, Dean of Academics, who prioritized the food and its crucial rolein everyone’s life. Prizes were distributed to the winners.
