Webinar on “ The First Step Towards Writing a Research Paper”

The School of Animation and Media Studies (SAMS), in collaboration with the Curriculum Development Cell (CDC), successfully conducted a webinar titled “The First Step Towards Writing a Research Paper” on April 25, 2024, at 3:00 PM via Google Meet. This session was graced by two eminent speakers: Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS), Madurai, and Dr. M. Vijayakumar, Associate Professor & Placement Coordinator from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. Dr. S. Priya, Dean Academics, SLCS and Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c cum Assistant Professor, SAMS – SLCS were the conveners of the event. A total of 102 students                  participated in the session.

Dr. R. Sujatha provided valuable insights into structuring research papers and highlighted the significance of academic integrity in scholarly work. Her presentation delved into the importance of adhering to ethical practices in research, including proper citation and plagiarism prevention.

Dr. M. Vijayakumar elaborated on effective research methodologies, emphasizing the need for a well-defined problem statement and a comprehensive literature review. He also addressed the nuances of drafting a compelling abstract, formulating hypotheses, and designing experiments or studies to support research objectives.

The webinar also covered significant topics that were particularly useful for NET (National Eligibility Test) aspirants. It also emphasized critical aspects of research writing, including selecting relevant and impactful topics, conducting systematic reviews, and ensuring clarity and coherence in writing. The webinar served as a foundational guide for budding researchers, inspiring them to approach academic writing.
