The Department of Commerce (B&I) successfully conducted a six-day Value-Added Course on Soft Skills for III B.Com (B&I) students from October 06 to 11, 2025.
The sessions were facilitated by Dr. S. Venkatesh, Associate Professor of English, The Madura College, Madurai, and Mr. P. Venkatachalam, National Institute, Madurai. The expert trainers provided intensive training on Spoken English, Personality Development, Aptitude, and Reasoning Skills. The program was designed to enhance students’ communication abilities, self-confidence, logical reasoning skills, and overall personality development—skills essential for their academic growth and future career prospects.
The objectives of the program were:
- To improve fluency and proficiency in Spoken English.
- To develop effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- To build confidence, leadership qualities, and positive body language.
- To provide training in aptitude and reasoning skills for competitive exams and placements.
- To prepare students for interviews and group discussions.
The sessions were conducted through interactive lectures, group activities, and practice-based learning by experienced resource persons. Major topics covered included:
- Spoken English practice (Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Sentence Formation)
- Personality Development (Self-introduction, Goal Setting, Time Management)
- Aptitude Skills (Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Problem Solving)
- Logical and Verbal Reasoning Practice
- Mock Interviews and Group Discussions
Outcome of the Program
The course proved to be highly beneficial for the students. They gained:
