Seminar on “Employability skills required in the post covid era”

ZEAL, BBA Association of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a seminar on “Employability skills required in the post covid era” on 29.10.2021. Mrs.K.Kanya, Senior Consultant, Ernest Young was the resource person. Totally 110 students comprising of I, II and III year BBA participated and got benefited through the program. The resource person explained in detail about the skills needed and the strategies to be employed for developing these skills.

BOARD OF STUDIES

The department of Food Science and Processing Management conducted the Board of Studies Meeting on 29October 2021 at 01.00 P.M. through this https://meet.google.com/mqm-xcsc-hqm Google Meet link .Mrs. Deepalakshmi, Head i/c and Chairman of the BoS welcomed the gathering and explained about the skeleton of the entire syllabus and the revisions made for the upcoming Even Semester for during the academic year (2021-2022). Dr. J.B. Sharmila, Associate Professor & Head, Dept. of Home Science, Sri Meenakshi College for Women, Madurai was invited as the University Nominee. Mr. P V Gopimanivannan, Head, Department of Food and Dairy Technology, Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College Madurai and Ms. ShivPoornima Anbuselvan, Visiting Professor, Dr.G.Sakunthala College of Nursing, Trichy took part in the BoS meeting as the Course Experts.  Dr.Singaravadivel, Director, Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology Government of India, Tanjore was invited as an Industry Expert & Ms. Abinaya, Product Analyst, Ruby Food Products Madurai as Alumni. Dr.R.Sujatha- Principal, Dr.S.Priya – Dean-Academics and IQAC Asst.Coordinators of SLCS were presented as Special invitees. The Department Faculty members, a Parent and a Student participated as members in the Board of Studies Meeting. All the members gave their valuable suggestions and recommendations for framing the syllabus.

PARENT TEACHERS’ MEETING – II

The Department of B.Com (B&I) conducted an online   PTA (Parents Teachers Association) Meeting II for the students of II & III B.Com ( B&I) on 29.10.21. Ms. V.Padmavathy, Head,B&I conducted for III Year, Ms. Nithya Kalyani, Assistant Professor, B&I conducted for II Year. The faculty members  explained to the parents about their wards’ attendance and II internal mark details and also informed them about the upcoming summative examination.

Hospitality Education Network Association Meeting

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized the Hospitality Education Network (HEN) Association Meeting on 28.10.21 at our student’s class room. The meeting started with a prayer song.  Mr. Jagadesh .K, III MC&HM, vice president of the association welcomed the gathering. Mr.C.Suresh Kumar, Head of the department delivered key note address. In his speech, he motivated the students how to develop the thinking capacity of everyone. Mr.Dharun perumal .K, III MC&HM, president of the association, spoke about the upcoming event of the association and he also asked the support from the association member for sales day celebration. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by the association Secretary T.Prabhu, II Year MC&HM.

Corporate Etiquettes

The program “Corporate Etiquettes” was organised by the “Lakshya” Department Association of MBA Program on 28th Oct 2021 at 11.30 am through Google Meet (YouTube Live). The key note speaker for the event was Prof. Kremena Krumova Stancheva (Bulgaria), Faculty, Arab Open University, Muscat, Oman. The event was organised to facilitate the learning and comprehending various aspects of basic corporate etiquettes for MBA students. 108 MBA students benefited out of this event.

ASSOCIATION MEET – “KALAISARAL”

“Kalaisaral”, the Association Meet, was conducted by the Techno Fest Association Members on 28.10.2021at Nautical Science Annexure Block. Students from I,II and III B.Sc CS (SSS) participated in the event. Ms.Subashree of II B.Sc C.S (SSS) compered the programme. The event started with the welcome address given by Ms.Ramya of III B.Sc CS(SSS). Special address was given by Mr.K.Aruchunan, Vice Pricipal, SLCS. Mrs.N.Anuradha, Head of the Department gave the felicitation address.

II & III year students conducted several non-technical events in order to welcome the I year Students. They encouraged their juniors to maintain team coordination throughout their college life. Students from II CS (SSS) conducted various non-technical events for III year CS students. II year students organized these events and made the session as a memorable moment for their seniors. Totally 128 (I year = 35, II year = 52, III year = 41) students participated in this program.

Finally II & III year students presented saplings to their juniors as a memento. The session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms.R.Rajalakshmi of III B.Sc CS (SSS).

International Animation Day 2021

The D. P. Roy Choudhury Association of Animation Department organized a one-day Session on “Thol Pavai koothu” for the I, II & III Year Students of Animation Department on 28.10.2021, Thursday at the Auditorium. The Program commenced with a welcome address by Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, HOD i/c cum Asst. Prof., Department of Animation.

Kalaimamani Mr.A.Muthulakshmana Rao & his team performed a program on shadow puppet and shared their experiences. The Guest, Principal, Dean and HoD awarded the shield & certificate for the best students under different categories. The students actively participated; all the students gave positive feedback. Totally 100 students participated in the program.

Fresher’s Day Programme

      Fresher’s Day Programme for I B.Com(B&I)  Students was organized by the Department of Commerce (B&I) on 27.10.2021.The programme commenced with a Prayer followed by Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Vidhya of III B.Com(B&I) .   The presidential address was delivered by Dr.R. Sujatha, Principal, and felicitation address was given by Dr.K.Archunan, Vice-principal and Dr.S.Priya Dean- Academics. Ms.V.Padmavathy – Head of The Department.Mr R.Damotharan, Mrs.R.Nithya Kalyani, and Mrs.G.Karthika conducted the Ice Breaking Session.  Second and Final year Students of B.Com(B&I) organized  the programme. The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks.

Awareness Program on “Disaster management”

The Department of Fire and Industrial Safety Collaborated with the Herbert William Heinrich Safety Association, Environmental Health and Safety club and Indian Red Cross Society jointly organized an awareness program on “Disaster management” and commemorated the International disaster risk reduction day on 27th October, 2021. Totally 296 students from SLCS and 16 students UVS electropathy medical college attended this awareness program. Third year B.Sc., (F&IS) student, Mr.M.Sakthi Periyasamy delivered the welcome address. Dr.R.Sujatha Principal gave her Presidential address and shared her own experience on reacting in the midst of the disaster management. She also insisted the students to response quickly by showing the humanity at the time of facing accidents. Vice Principal, Dr.K.Archunan and Dr.S.Priya Dean -Academics gave felicitation address.

     Chief Guest Mr. P. M. Stalin (Indian Red Cross Society) Thiruparamkundram division, Program officer gave the introduction of Indian Red Cross Society Thiruparamkundram division. One of the SLCS students stated the History of Red Cross society along with the importance of humanity, human value and moral thinking and the way they work for the society. Mr. M. P. Jones (Indian Red Cross society) Program Officer explained the type of disaster and preventive measures for the disasters. Mr.R.Vengadesh, Fire officer (Fire and rescue station Periyar) demonstrated on how to extinguish the fire and he also indulged the students about the moral value followed in our life.

Factory Visit to St John’s Container Freight Station

ZEAL, BBA Association of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai organized a factory visit to St John’s Container Freight Station, Tuticorin on 27.10.2021. The students learnt in detail the various import and export procedures involved in the movement of containers. The logistics operations involved in this process were also explained in detail. The students had a great learning experience. Totally 109 students comprising of I, II and III year BBA participated and got benefited through this visit.
