Career Guidance Programme cum Alumni Interaction on “Opportunity Zones – Graphic Design in Corporates

D.P.Roy Choudhury Association of Department of Animation organized a Career Guidance programme cum Alumni Interaction on “Opportunity Zones – Graphic Design in Corporates” on 10.12.2022 from 09.30 a.m. – 10.30 a.m. at Animation Academic Lab – I.

Mr.M. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Animation welcomed the gathering.  Ms. BhuvaneswariMeena (2015-18 batch), Visual Design Associate,
Level – III, AmazonPvt. Ltd, Chennai, acted as the chief guest of the event.

She addressed that the graphic designer has many responsibilities ranging from conducting themselves in a professionaland ethical manner in their work to employing well thought through solutions based around sustainabledesign processes and practices in the corporate sectors. It is the role of a graphic designer to use colors, text, images, and symbols to assist with their company’s design process and make communications easier to understand for all audiences.

She also insisted that Graphic designers come in many forms: web/online, 2D & 3D animation print, video, multimedia, branding, illustration.A graphic designer’s portfolio should include their most recent and impressive projects. A diverse portfolio is ideal for providing a quick summary of accomplishments and abilities. It is also important that a designer’s portfolio is credible with reviews and references in addition to their work. She shared experiences with 2Adpro &Amazon and the pipeline followed by them which gave an insight to the aspiring students.

The programme endedsuccessfully and totally, 69 students from I &III year B.Sc. Animation& P.G. Diploma were benefitted through this event.

PROFESSIONAL & ADMINISTRATIVE TRAINING ON “PERSONAL INVESTMENT METHODS”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell & Placement Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai, jointly organized a Professional & Administrative Training on “Personal Investment Methods” on 10.12.2022 at 2.15 pm in the College premises for the welfare of the Teaching & Non-Teaching Staff Members. Dr. R.Sujatha, the Principal of SLCS & A Team from Bajaj Capital were the Resource Persons. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Assistant Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Dr.S.Priya, the Dean Academics graced the session through her active participation.

Dr.R.Sujatha enlightened the Staff Members by presenting and explaining about various investments. She also explained the importance of saving for future with her own experiences. The session was really an eye opener for all the students.

Followed by her, a Team from Bajaj Capital took over the session and explained about the plans which will be a helpful one for the staff members. Totally, 57 Faculty members and 11 non-teaching staff members participated in the training session. Mr.Maniraj, the Placement Officer proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Session on “Problem Solving and Ideation Workshop”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, along with Institution’s Innovation Council- SLCS conducted a Session on “Problem Solving and Ideation Workshop” on 09.12.2022. Mr. R. Ramachandran, Field Coordinator, EDII Hub, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, was the chief guest.  He discussed the various problems that are expected during business operations when they have a start-up company. He further explained the major difference between start-up & entrepreneurship and various steps involved in start-up such as Ideation, Pre – Incubation, Incubation and Acceleration. He discussed the various strategies to identify and forecast problems during our business and out of the box thinking for problem solving.  Finally, he discussed the various feasibilities such as Technical, Financial and Marketing Feasibilities for making a start – up company. Totally, 48 students of I BBA, 30 Students of II BBA eagerly participated in the program.

Professional Training Program on “How to get Research Grants for Projects from Government Sectors”

Department of Animation organized a Professional Training Program on“How to get Research Grants for Projects from Government Sectors” on 09.12.2022 through Google Meet.

The programwas initiated by Mr. P. Kishore Kumar, Head i/c Cum AP, Dept. of Animation, welcoming of the gathering. Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Marketing & Technical Head, ScopikEdutech Pvt. Ltd, Chennai, was the resource person for the day.

He gave a valuable insight into the process for finding, applying for, and securing funding. He addressed that, “These kind of funding schemes aims to encourage emerging and eminent researchers for individual-centric and competitive mode of research funding to undertake R&D activities in frontier areas of various domains. Funding is vital in ensuring sustainability of certain projects and it can play a very important role in arranging for the required funding process. Government funding agencies always want to see that you have made efforts to prepare your projects. It is essential that you display a sense of seriousness and keen to successfully deliver the projects that you are intended to carry out. It is always good to use evidence as a proof of any planning; this is a solid statement to persuade the funders that you are confident about what you are going to do and provides you with much needed training and co-ordination. At last, he concluded with how to write the project proposal and how to take it further.

The program ended productively and totally 8 faculty members were benefitted.

SLCS-Samaaj Seva – Outreach Activity on “SWACHHTA HI SEVA”– Cleanliness is Service”

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a SLCS-Samaaj Seva—outreach Activity on “SWACHHTA HI SEVA- Cleanliness is Service”, as a cleaning activity at Valandur Temple, Madurai, on 08.12.2022. The students created awareness among the rural people by providing pamphlets to them and suggesting them to create a green environment in their surroundings. As a part of the program, they collected plastic waste, and cleaned the temple. Students actively participated in the program by giving in their full support, which made it a great success. The people in the village appreciated the efforts made by the students and the co-ordinator. Totally, 38 students and 3 faculty took part in this program.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an Industrial Visit for II year students on 08.12.2022 at Cumbum Valley Winery Factory, Theni.  The industrial visit helped our students to gain practical knowledge on industrial processes related to core management concepts. They learned the key stages of the wine making process with advanced machines. The students were glad to see the preparation of red wine. A wine maker, Mr. M. Karthik Kumar, explained the facts on who checks the quality of grapes during the harvest season. They intricately check grapes’ taste as well as sugar and acid levels. Students also visited the stockroom where the wine is stored in huge oak barrels. Totally, 38 students and 3 faculty members participated in this visit.

Ø In blog creation event, the theme was given to the students a day before for developing an application on “India Vision towards 2040”.  The students created and presented their blog with various innovative ideas like Cleanliness throughout the country, Advanced technology in medicine and Artificial Intelligence in education.

Ø In Poster Presentation event, the theme was given to the students a day before for designing a poster on “Future World in my Perception”.  The students designed many innovative posters by using the tools and templates available in the canvas software tool.

“Skill Development Activity”

ZEAL Association, Department of BBA, conducted a Skill Development Activity for the students of I BBA on 06.12.2022 at AV Room of Annex Building. The program was presided over by Dr. B. Meenakshi Sundaram, Assistant Professor, Department of BBA. The purpose of this program is to bring out the skills and talents of the students. The students exhibited their skills on Paper presentation, Logistics Business Quiz, Ad Zap Act, Best Manager skills and Stress Management. The skill development program was supported by II BBA Students. Prizes were distributed to the winners and runners. Totally, 53 students of I BBA and 30 Students of II BBA participated in the program.

CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

Art & Media Club &D. P. Roy Choudhury Association, Department of Animation, celebratedthe“International Human Rights Day 2022” on 06.12.2022 at our Animation Academic Lab.

As a part of the Celebration, a Drawing Competition was conducted in the Topic: All Humans…All Equal. The main aim of this competition to exhibit the student’s talents and also to create aware of the Human rights and responsibilities. The students created magnificent sketches on paper with colors. It was related to the present scenario, where students could engage in skillful learning through the medium of Art.

Students participated with great enthusiasm and zest. Indeed the competition provided a platform for theircreative expression.

TotallyXX students from all the departments were participatedin this event.
