Students from the Department of BBA actively took part in an extension activity at Nedumadurai Government School, Madurai on 12.12.2018. They donated erasers, pencils and sharpeners for the students. An awareness program on “Sanitation and Hygiene” was arranged. This was the impact of a survey on “Sanitation and Hygiene” conducted at Nedumadurai village. Finally, as a supporting measure for the green initiative, free tree saplings were donated to the school.
On behalf of Department of CS & IT an industrial visit was arranged for II B.Sc CS (SSS) students on 12.12.2018 at Gateway Software Solutions, Coimbatore. The HR of Gateway Software Solutions conducted very informative session for the students.
He motivated the students to select particular domain like web development, mobile apps development & software testing etc to get a good job in IT industry. Also he discussed the importance of aptitude & reasoning skills to enter into IT industry. Finally students interacted with him by asking questions.
ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai had organized a workshop on “Letter of Credit”. Mr.B.V.Eswaran, Former Chief Manager, Syndicate Bank was invited as the resource person. The resource person highlighted the various documentation procedures regarding letter of credit and its significance in the field of Logistics & Shipping. Totally 58 students participated and got benefited through this program.
The Department of BBA has signed a MOU with CII – Institute of Logistics, Chennai for conducting a Value Added certificate course on “Logistics & Shipping Management”. The first video conferencing class for students of 2017 – 20 batch started on 04.12.2018. The objective of this value added certificate course is to enhance the employability skills of the students in the logistics and shipping industry.
A group of advanced learners from the Department of BBA organized a Business Quiz contest on 08.12.2018. Students actively participated in the contest. The advanced learners created an opportunity for themselves to learn, practice and experience leadership skills and the nuances of organizing.
Mr.SASI KUMAR Alumni of MC&HM dept (2014-17 batch) has been interacted with our present first year students on 07.12.2018. He is working in fleet management, shipping company as a chief cook for past one year and he has given career counseling and he shared his experience in the field of shipping industry to the first student.
He had privileged to assist each & every student becoming as a chef for fleet management company and also he has delivered the duties and responsibility has in the ship. Document required joining in the ship and safety awareness to the students
As a premier institution of Madurai, SLCS continued to enjoy immense confidence of the recruiters for placement for the batch of 2016-2019. Initially the City Union Bank conducted the campus recruitment drive for the third year students of Commerce Department in our college campus on 05.12.2018.Four panel members from the City Union Bank, Head Office, Kumbakkonam interviewed around 16 students .The recruitment drive consists of descriptive test, On-line aptitude test and personal interview. Each and every student performed well. The recruiters felt happy and also were satisfied about the performance of the students. The Department felt really happy that all the students participated with confidence and enthusiasm.
Department of Commerce organized a Career counseling on Insurance Opportunities to B.Com graduates, Mr.Seenivasan, Secretary, Madurai Institute of Insurance, explained the placement opportunities available to B.Com graduates an motivated them to clear licentiate examination, which would help them to get more job opportunities in insurance Industry.48 students, participated and got benefited.
The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management students has participated the one day state level work shop cum demonstration program on focusing of innovative ‘’Powder Cream Icing Techonolgy’’organized by Karaikudi Bakery owners Association on 04.12.2018 at Courtallam.
There are 65 second year students and 6 faculty members was participated in the work shop and the Chief Guest Chef kaaleeshwaran has demonstrated to the students /Bakers/Chefs/Entrepreneurs in Art Craft Skills under Technology up Gradation program of KBOA’’ Supported by Desotta School of Baking ,Karaikudi.
The workshop cum demonstration also contains modern icing craft skills, theoretical instruction, and practical oriented general manufacturing practices as per updated trends of bakery industries.
Mr.P.Thirunavukkarsu, Head of the Department, Mr.P.Kishore Kumar, Instructor and 5 students, Mr.M.Suriya (17351), Mr.B.Vetrivendhan (17355), Mr.M.Balaji Kannan (17311), Ms.S.Vibitha (17308) & Ms.P.Uma (17307) from the II Animation conducted Extension Activity on 30.11.2018 for the students of 8th Standard in Government High school, Valaiyangulam on topic “Everyday Life with Design” & “E Learning”. Totally 100 students were benefited. We taught students about Traffic symbols, Colour harmony and how to use the social media properly. we got good feedback from the staffs and students.
