National Conference On Emerging Techniques in Food Processing

The second year students of the Department of Food Science and Processing Management have participated in the National Conference on Emerging Techniques in Food Processing organized by Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology on 27/06/2019 and 28/06/2019 along with Ms. D. Subhashree, Asst. Prof., FSPM. On day one, 27/06/2019 conference commenced with registration followed by various online workshops on recent advancement in food processing by the resource persons from USA, UK. After that there was a Hands-on demonstration and visit to IIFPT facilities such as Computational modeling and nanoscale processing unit, Modern rice mill and Food product development lab, Incubation centre, Food Safety and quality testing lab & Food Biotechnology lab, Food engineering lab, Non-destructive quality evaluation lab, Postharvest pest management lab, Food packaging lab. On day two, 28/06/2019 the conference commenced with the inaugural ceremony by the Hon’ble Minister of Food Processing Industries Mr. Rameshwar Teli. After inaugural ceremony there were invited talks on various topics such as 3D printing of foods, Non thermal Processing of Food, Nanotechnology of Food Systems, Ultrasound Processing, UV applications, Ozone Processing, Pulsed Electric field Processing, Digital Image and Soft X-ray processing, High Pressure Processing, Irradiation of foods, Intelligent Packaging, Block chain Processing in Food Supply chain.

WORKSHOP

The II & III year students of Computer Science (SSS) Department have attended the two days workshop on “Advanced Ethical Hacking”, which was held on 11th and 12th JULY 2019 at M.I.E.T. Engineering College, Trichy. 28 Students and 2 Faculties from our college have attended the workshop. This workshop was conducted by Ozone Cyber Security team. Students and Faculties have gained the knowledge about the system rooting, android rooting, mobile hacking which can be done by automatic or manual rooting. They also learnt about how the wifi works and how the access to the wifi can be denied. And they have also got the awareness of works done by Black Hackers and the ethics of White Hackers.

Campus Recruitment Drive

Department of Animation, organised the Campus Recruitment Drive for the final year students (Batch 2017-20) on 08.07.2019 & 09.07.2019. A Multi National Company 2ADPro, Chennai conducted the Interview for them. 27 Students were selected. Mr.Nirmal, HR Manager & Mr.Ramesh Dhanasekaran, Head Training Division from the company conducted the Interview. Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Department, Mr.V.Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator and Faculty members Mr.M.Purusothaman, Mr.P.Kishore Kumar and Mr.M.Abdul Aziz Hakkim made all the arrangements.

TECHTALK

Department of Computer Science(SSS) conducted TechTalk event for the students of II year of Computer Science Department on 05, July 2019 at Seminar Hall. The session was started with the presentation by the students, P.NirmalRaj and P.K.Dilip Kumar of II CS, on “Artificial Intelligence”. And there was also presentation on the medicine application project by Karthiyaini & R.K.Naga Divya. This session gave the students some knowledge about the Artificial Intelligence and how the project was developed and its use.

BRIDGE COURSE

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a bridge course for the first year students from 2.7.2019 to 4.7.2019.   Mr. C. Sureshkumar, Head of the Department addressed the students and informed about the rules and regulations, Department Discipline, Academic details, Syllabus, Lesson plan, Attendance, Department Activity for the Academic year 2019, introduced the faculty members and Courses handling staff , and handed over the Bridge course manual, lesson plan, time table, attendance log sheet to the class representative. The respective staff members started their bridge course according to the schedule given by the Head of the Department.

DEPARTMENT ORIENTATION PROGRAM

On behalf of Department of CS orientation programme has been conducted on 02.07.2019 at 08.00 AM in Seminar Hall for I B.Sc CS (SSS) ‘A’ & ‘B’ students. Our department HOD Mrs.N.Anuradha introduced the subjects which they are going to study in I semester also she informed the faculty in-charges for each class.

Students from our department interacted with I year students by introducing the facilities and opportunities in our department. Also association members elaborated about Technofest Association and roles & responsibilities of association members.

Orientation Program 2019

SLCS conducted an Orientation Programme for the First Year Students of UG and PG on 01.07.2019. The Programme commenced with the lighting of the Kuthuvilakku by the parents at 10.30am in NS hall of SLCS. The Presidential Address was delivered by the Principal, Dr.B.Ramamoorthy and the Felicitation Address was given by IQAC Advisor, Dr.R.L.Ramnath. The Heads of the Departments briefed the aim and objective of the respective departments and introduced their faculty members. College rules, Exam rules, Hostel rules and Library rules were also elaborated to the parents and the students. The working of Women Empowerment Cell and Women Welfare Committee were also highlighted. A word on grooming, notice board usage, and importance of discipline were stressed by the Heads of the Departments.

Number of Value added courses provided by each department and placement opportunities were highlighted. In addition to that Driving and Passport availing facility were also briefed to parents. Welcome address and vote of thanks were delivered by senior faculty of the college.

Exposure Visit

ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai had organized an Exposure Visit to SNP Dairy Unit on 29.06.2019. The logistics and Supply Chain operations related to the procurement of raw milk to the dispatch of milk packets and the related byproducts were explained in detail. The students also witnessed the production process. The visit was really useful and very informative to the students.

National Conference On Emerging Techniques in Food Processing

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management student has participated National Conference on “Emerging Techniques in Food Processing” for two days (27.06.2019  &  28.06.2019 ) organized by IIFPT  at Tanjore.

There are 21 students were participated in this program. The chief guest from various countries have effectively delivered their speech in the subject covers with Latest  equipment techniques used in Food Processing unit and the Entrepreneurship development to the students in current scenario.

Debate on “Management of water crisis”

ZEAL, BBA Association, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai had organized a debate on “Management on water crisis” on 22.06.2019. Water scarcity has become a critical issue in our country. Students actively participated in the debate highlighting the role to be played by the public and the government. Interesting and feasible remedial measures were also explained by the students.
