The Department of Commerce B.Com (B&I) organized an industrial visit to Sugar Factory Limited, Sivagangai, on February 7, 2025. Totally, 37 students from II year B.Com (B&I) along with Mrs.V.Padmavathy, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce (B&I) and Dr.A.Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce (B&I) visited the factory. The students were briefed on the various processes of sugar. The students were able to witness the production process of sugar in the factory. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for students to witness the real-time operations of a large-scale sugar manufacturing unit and to gain practical insights into the sugar industry’s functioning, management, and technological advancements. This visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application for the students of the department.
Outcome of the Program
- Students gained a comprehensive understanding of how sugar is produced, from raw material reception to final packaging.
- The visit helped students witness the technological innovations employed in modern sugar mills, especially in terms of automation, energy efficiency, and waste management.
