“Thaagam” – Best Short film award

Student R.Hariharan and his team members M.Arunkumar, B.Karthick, S.Karthick and S.Ganesh Babu from 1st year B.Sc.VisCom had won the Best Short film award for their short film “Thaagam” in the Rally for River Competition Organized by ISHA , Madurai. The short film dealt with the water scarcity and its effects in the near future. The event was held on Sep 04, 2017.

Media Support-Alaq Rehabilitation trust

Alaq Rehabilitation Trust had organized an event titled “Vaa 2017” a one day motivation event for differently abled people. The event was organized on Sep 03,2017 at TVS School, Madurai. To service to the society the students of Visual Communication department voluntarily participated in the event for media support. The students have taken video and photograph of entire event. Career counseling – UG

Department of Visual communication conducted a Career counseling session on 24/08/2017, for the 2nd & 3rd year B.Sc Viscom.

Mr. M. Raghukalidasan is the mentor of 3rd year Viscom students. He counseled the 3rd year students about career opportunities in current media industry.

Totally 19 students participated in the event. The staff who took the workshop were immensely experienced and professional. The interactions made sure that there was no low point in the session. It gave everyone a clear perspective for the long run. All the factors affecting the choice of the students were addressed and the myths and superstitions regarding the choices were removed to a large extent. They showed presentations and various forms which were and organized and broken down into particular streams. It was very informative and interactive and even quite fun. They quite well managed to persuade the parents to attend their sessions being conducted separately too.

Hands on Images – Community development program

A Student’s Day out ——Mr. S. Harish of 2nd year Film and TV Production of SLCS, rendered a awareness program titled “Hands on Images” for the student Community living in Eliyarpathy, through the Student association ‘Medius Coronet’ on  30th July 2017.The children in this village of different age categories participated and had a day out with the Camera Technology. Since it is a first try of the association it was tried with very minimum students but reached a long.

MEDIUS CORONET

The inaugural function of “MEDIUS CORONET” A Students’ Association,Department of Visual Communication was held on Tuesday, July 25,2017.  Prof.T.Thivakar, Film & Television Institute of India was the Chief Guest of the program. The Chief Guest, Principal Dr.P.Saravanan, Vice Principal Mr.K.Archunan and Head of the Department Mr. C.Manikandan inaugurated the students’ association. Student Mr.R.Shanmugapriyan was elected as Secretary of the association. Ms. Esther and EL. Shanmuga Priya were elected as Joint Secretaries. Mr.C.Ajith Kumar, Mr. M.Mani Azhagu, Mr. P.Arumugam, Ms.M. Bhamini and Ms. M.Thirumala were elected as Executive Committee members.

Short- films Senguruthi, Avan and Panjali directed by the Chief Guest were screened and discussed. Staff members and the students of the department were participated.

MASS DEVELOPMENT OF NEW MEDIA

The department of Visual Communication has conducted a Guest lecture on “The development of New Media”. The program was held on June 28, 2017. Mr.G.K. Anandh Varshan, Program Producer, Radaan Media was the chief guest of the Program. He discussed about structuring a  program, producing  techniques, and the  business behind  the  television industry. Since  the  programs  produced now  is  reaching nook and corner  in  this  world, and  the  viewers  who are  watching  the  program at any time, He has  given  some advices to produce many creative programs to reach the global viewers. The students  and  professors  of  Visual Communication  has  participated  in  this  session.

Latest scenario of film making – Guest Lecture

The Department of Visual Communication has organized a Guest Lecture on Latest scenario of film making on May 06, 2017. Mr.Adhiroopan, Director of Mupparimanam Tamil movie was the resource person of the program. He has trained our students in ideation to screen, Promotion, Marketing and Distribution methods of current scenario of film production. Role of acting in a film and handling the leading artist in film Production also shared by the guest. The students of B.Sc. Viscom and M.Sc. Viscom Students were participated and benefited.

SINTHANAI SIRPY

Dinamalar and The Department of Visual Communication and Animation of our college had jointly organized the “Sinthanai Sirpy” a State level competition for +1 & + 2 students. The competitions are designed in the manner to bring the latent potential and creativity of the students. Photography, Mobile Video, Writing, Drawing, Painting and Radio Jockey are the various competitions.

Nearly Two hundred and fifty students from southern districts were participated in the competition and shown their creativity. Dr. Lakshmipathy, Publisher, Dinamalar, Dr. M.Chandran, Correspondent, Sri Aroubindo Mira Group of Educational Institution, Speaker S.Raja, Dr. Ramnath, Principal, SLCS, Radio Jockeys Jackson Durai and Kalyani are the Chief Guest for the event. Cash prize was awarded to the winning participants for all events. Mr. C.Manikandan, Head, Visual Communication, Mr.P.Thirunavukkarsu, Head, Animation and Staff members of these departments had organized the event. Radio program for neighbouring rural communities by our 3rd year student Ms. M. Preetha

2017      Miss M. Preethaof III year Film and Television Production had participated and presented lectures on the Topic of “Tour and travel” in Shyamalavani CR 90.4, A Community Radio for the people, by the people and of the people. The programs are presented for the community people living in and around radius 15kms from the Shyamalavani 90.4.  The program titles as follows:
