The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized a one day industrial visit to Hotel Taj , Pasumalai – Madurai on 7.8.2017. 1st year students along with three faculty members (Mrs. G.S.Subbulakshmi , Mr. Maheshkumar and Mr.Jacob Jebaraj) participated in the Industrial Visit. Mr. Moses Jebaraj, Training Manager and Mr. Premkumar, Human Resource Manager gave a speech on career growth in the hospitality industry.
Six students from the Dept of Marine Catering and Hotel Management from Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, have participated in Ideal Home Exhibition which was organized by Dinamalar Daily, Madurai at Thamukkam, Madurai from 3.8.2017 to 7.8.2017. The students worked for Madras coffee House stall for serving and selling their products. They issued certificates and Remuneration of Rs. 1000/- per student for 5 days. They also provided food for free of cost.
The department of Marine Catering and hotel Management has organized Training in Food safety and Hygiene for the staff working in the canteen and Mess staff on 30.07.2017. We have provided safe working environment training to the workers make sure to understand the principles of basic food safety and how to apply knowledge to control hazards and prevent food poisoning.
The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management have organized Career Counseling Program on 29.7.2017. All the third year students of various discipline participated in this career counseling programme. Mr. Sandip Chothe,Training Manager, Fleet Management, Mumbai was the resource person. Dr. P. Saravanan, Principal, gave welcome address. and Mr.K. Archunan, Vice Principal gave the Vote of Thanks, Mr.C.Sureshkumar, Head, Dept of MCHM, was the Programme Co-ordinator.
The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management have organized the Faculty Development Programme for various department staffs in our college campus on 29.7.2017 at 3.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Dr. P. Saravanan, Principal, gave the welcome speech. The Resource Person (Chief Guest) was Mr. Sandip chothe, Training Manager, Fleet Management,Mumbai. Mr. C. Sureshkumar, Head, Dept of MCHM was the Programme Co-ordinator addressed all the faculty members and he expressed the aim of organizing this programme for the faculty members. Mr. Sandip Chothe explained the various aspects of teaching and learning process.
The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized a intra – departmental cookery competition “Fancy de cookies” on 27.7.2017. Head of the Department and faculty members judge the performance of the students and awarded marks. Winners were

The Department of Marine catering and Hotel Management conducted two days SEMINAR on the topic of “TO THE TABLE ” from 26.07.2017 – to 27.07.2017. Dr.P.Saravanan , PRINCIPAL – SLCS as Chief Guest and inaugurated the Seminar , Mr.C.Suresh kumar, HOD gave an inspirational speech, Mr. Rishikeshkumar, III year student gave the vote of thanks. The students of second and third year had taken the seminar on various Food and Beverage service related topics.
The department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management has organized an intra – departmental cookery competition “Art de la Cuisine” on 25.7.2017. The Dr. P. Saravanan, Principal, Mr.K. Archunan, Vice Principal and Mr. C. Sureshkumar, Head Dept of MCHM acted as judge and distributed the prizes for the students .
The department of Marine Catering and hotel Management has organized Training in Floor Cleaning Equipment for the staff working in the canteen and Mess on 22.07.2017. We have given training to the workers the cleaning services that more focused some areas like bathrooms, floors and lobbies.
The “Chennai Cooking Challenge” have organized the National Level Competition and the theme designed as “Battle of Biryani – 17”. The Programme conducted in IHM, Tharamani- Chennai Campus on 8th July 2017.
Around 200 professional, 100 students and 100 Non – Professionals participated in this grand competition. Mr. M. Sasikumar & Mr. A.M. Karthick of Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science Battle this competition in student’s category and won the First Prize as Gold Medal.
