74th REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

Adhering to the restrictive norms that curtailed celebrations, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science had a meaningful Semi-sesquicentennial Republic Day ceremony on 26.01.2023 without much ado but with the sincerest devotion to the nation. Department of Languages in association with the Physical Education department made the arrangements for the 74th Republic Day celebrations. The celebration began with the euphonious rendition of the prayer song. The honorable President of the College, Dr. R. Lakshmipathy, unfurled the National flag and delivered the Republic Day Address. Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, SLCS, conveyed her Republic day wishes with a small message that indicates every faculty should be a role model to their students and every student should possess teachers as their role model. Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal, shared his Republic Day wishes to the faculty and staff members. The Dean Academics, Dr. S. Priya, Heads of the Departments, faculty members, staff members and students have participated and showed their patriotism. The celebration came to an end with the National Anthem. Totally, 127 students and 62 faculty members attended the Republic Day celebration.

National Youth day 2023

Department of Languages & Extra Curricular Cell in association with SLCS- Institution’s Innovation Council organized a Talent Exposure program for students to celebrate “National Youth Day 2023” on 13.01.2023 at 11 am at our college premises. Mr. Madurai Muthu, a leading stand-up comedian from Madurai is invited as the chief guest for the celebration. The objective of this event is to make the students understand the importance and contribution of exposing their talents and extra-curricular activities for the betterment of their future and celebrate young generation as a wealth that cannot be ceased. Totally, 28 students and 4 faculty members participated in the program. Students enjoyed a lot and made the day a memorable one.

BHARATHI BHAASHA UTHSAV COMPETITION

Department of Languages celebrated Bharathi Bhaasha Uthsav on the eve of 141st birth anniversary of Maha Kavi Bharathiyar on 12.12.2022. Quiz and Elocution competitions were conducted. The students were asked to write the verses on the title ‘Barathiyin Kanavu India’ or ‘En Desam En Paarvai’ or ‘Barathi Endroru Naveena Kanavu’.  Ten students from different departments have participated in the competition.

Quiz competition was conducted between12.00 to 1.00 pm. In the first round, 45 students have participated and 20 students have been qualified for the second round. Finally, three students have been declared as winners of the competition. The winners are as follows:

National Education day 2022

Department of Languages in association with SLCS- Institution’s Innovation Council organized Essay Competition and Poster Making Competition to commemorate “National Education Day 2022” with the theme Changing Course, Transforming Education” on 17.11.2022 at 11 am in S62 of our college premises. The objective of this event is to make the students understand the importance of the Education at present for the betterment of their future and to celebrate Education as a wealth that cannot be ceased.  Totally, 25 students participated in Poster Making Competition and 11 students participated in Essay Competition. The event came to an end with blissful enlightment of the students on education.

Seminar on Kanavu Meipada On 15.07.2022

Department of Languages & Extra Curricular Activities Committee organized a seminar on the  program  “KANAVU MEIPPADA”  for students on 15.07.2022 at 11a.m in the college auditorium. The objective of this program is to motivate the students in the aspects of career growth and enrich the skills through the curriculum.  The Chair Person of the seminar is Mrs. Bharathi Sathyanarayanan, a motivational speaker. She insisted the students to improve their reading habits, discipline and to respect the  parents. The Principal headed the program.   Dr.K.Archunan  Vice principal and Dr.S.priya Dean Academics  have made the program a successful one. Totally,199 students and 9 faculty members participated in the program.  Students enjoyed a lot and made the day a memorable one.

27th Annual Day Celebration

Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS) organized 27th Annual Day celebration on 16th March,2022 at our college auditorium  at 2 pm.The programme commenced with a prayer song .This was followed by a  welcome address given by Dr.S.Priya,Dean-Academics. During the address she elaborately introduced all the Heads of the Departments highlighting their personal traits and their contribution for the development of the department.Dr. R.Sujatha, Principal delivered the felicitation address. She dwelt upon the aspirations and overwhelming expectations of the students who made a mark in the competitions and got covetous positions and prizes in various competitions. Next Dr.K.Archunan gave a special address elucidating upon the importance of discipline and regard for the elders and teachers among the students who are going to be the pillars of our nation. The Annual Day report was read out by the principal. The Heads of the Departments were also requested to distribute the prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted through clubs.The competitionssuchasDrawing,Photography,FacePainting,TamilTranslation,VaarthaiVilayattu,Aringarai Arivom,Tongue Twister,Poster Making, Brain Games, Mime, Singing (solo), Rangoli Mehandi were organized through various clubs of our college. Apart from this, the best outgoing students, Proficiency in academics from various departments and best volunteers representing NSS,RRC and Eco club students were given away prizes for their contributions. The students were honored for clearing their International Certifications organized by various departments. Vote of thanks was given by Shahithya.K, II B.Sc CS (SSS). The programme came to an end with the national anthem.

SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL MOTHERS’ LANGUAGE DAY

Department of Tamil, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science commemorated the International Mothers’ Language day through a seminar on 21.02.2022. Mr. A. Vinoth, Member, National Committee for Minorities Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India and Dr. M. G. Sethuraman, Professor, Department of Chemistry, The Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul, were the Chief Guests for the celebration. Mrs. N. Selvi, Assistant Professor of Tamil, delivered the welcome address.  Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal presided the presidential address. Dr. K. Archunan, Vice Principal and Dr. S. Priya, Dean-Academics, delivered the felicitation address. Mrs. R. Suganthi Hepzibha, Assistant Coordinator (IQAC) cum Assistant Professor of English, introduced the Chief Guest. The Chief Guests insisted the importance of National & Spiritual devotion. The students were also motivated by the Guests to speak the mother language without the impact of the foreign language. Mrs. H. Geetha, Assistant Professor of Tamil, proposed the vote of thanks. Students dedicated various language songs such as, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi, Sanskrit and Hindi. Totally, 274 students participated and enjoyed the session.

73rd REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

The Principal of SLCS Dr.R.Sujatha, hoisted the National flag and delivered the Republic Day Address. Followed by her, the Vice Principal Dr.K.Archunan, shared the Republic Day wishes to the Faculty and Staff Members.  The celebration was concluded with the National Anthem. Totally 37 (21 Faculty, 1 from COE, 8 non-teaching staff and 7 students) members attended the Republic celebration.

INDIAN ARMY DAY

The department of Languages of SLCS salutes the sacrifice of soldiers who were martyred protecting the country and its citizens. In remembering this, the department celebrated the Indian Army Day on January 17th, 2022 (since January 15th, 2022 was a holiday). The students were given a task to take up a e-quiz to know more facts about the act of valour of our majestic Indian Army. Totally 176 students participated in the e-quiz circulated through the google form. The e-certificates were also sent to all the participations.

Saluting all the Indian Army men for their bravery, dedication and patriotism. Happy Indian Army Day!

AWARENESS ON USAGE OF MASKS & SANITIZERS

On 08.01.2022, the department of Languages, Mathematics and Physical Education of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science along with the support of Madurai Corporation Avaniyapuram Police Check post, Mandela Nagar organized SLCS Samaaj Seva – an extension activity to create awareness on the usage of masks and sanitizers among the public due to the fast spread of COVID-19. Totally 7 students and 5 faculty members were involved in distributing the masks and sanitizers to the public in the nearby shops, bus commuters and in the petrol bunk.
